Usage experience

We will use “VOLTME Revo 140W” and look at its charging performance. First, let’s take a look at what happens when charging a 14-inch MacBook Pro. I will try charging the USB-C1, which can output up to 140W, using MagSafe 3.

As a result, the value was 81.450W. It is certainly fast, but it seems modest considering the maximum power of 140W.

I checked the power supply information from the Mac’s system information, and the wattage was recognized as 100W. Well, why is this? After doing some research, I found out that the 14-inch MacBook Pro I am using is not compatible with 140W high-speed charging.

In the first place, to enable high-speed charging exceeding 100W, the “USB charger, cable, and charging device” must all support “USB PD EPR (Extended Power Range)”.

In this case, the “USB charger (VOLTME Revo 140W)” and “cable (USB-C to MagSafe 3)” are compatible with USB PD EPR, but the “14-inch MacBook Pro” is not compatible. This means that 140W was not output.

As of May 2023, only the “16-inch MacBook Pro” is compatible with 140W fast charging, so if you are using other MacBooks or Windows laptops, you will not be able to charge at 140W. However, if you’re wondering if this product is useless, that’s a different story.

Even if it does not support “USB PD EPR”, USB PD itself supports charging up to 100W, and even when using multiple ports at the same time, the output of each port is unlikely to drop. It has characteristics.

Specifically, the combination shown above has a maximum output of 140W, so even if all three ports are used at the same time, USB-C1 can output 65W and USB-C2 can output 45W. This is powerful enough to charge a MacBook Pro and a MacBook Air at high speed at the same time, so if you have multiple devices, you can fully utilize the power of this product.

*Additional note: Regarding durability under high load

As I received in the comments, there is a phenomenon where the device shuts down when charging at the maximum high load of 140W. Unfortunately, I don’t have a 16-inch MacBook Pro, so I can’t try full 140W charging, but instead, I tried charging two devices at the same time: an M1 MacBook Air and a 14-inch MacBook Pro.

Since the two USB-C ports charge at the same time, the output should be 130W (65W x 2).

I tried charging both the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro at the same time from almost 0% battery. If you use two USB-C ports at the same time, the output per port will be 65W. When I checked it with a USB checker, I found that the output was close to 65W, which is almost in line with the specifications.

I tried charging two devices at the same time for about 40 to 50 minutes. Both PC batteries were able to charge to over 90%, almost fully charged, but during this time, under my environment, there were no shutdowns.

While charging, I also touched the charger itself. I could certainly feel the heat, but it wasn’t so hot that I couldn’t touch it, and it didn’t seem like it was shutting down.

After that, I checked its temperature while fast-charging with three devices, and I recorded a maximum of 49.1 degrees C (120.4 degrees F). Although this is warm, it’s average for GaN chargers of this size.

Conclusion

“VOLTME Revo 140W” is a powerful USB charger that has 3 USB ports and can output up to 140W. Although there are not many USB chargers that support 140W output, it is compact-sized in the 140W class and is easy to use, with the plug also being foldable. Unfortunately, there are very few devices that support 140W charging. At the moment, the only product available is the 16-inch MacBook Pro.

There are indeed only a few compatible devices, but the advantage is the large output of each when charging multiple devices at the same time. If you want to charge your laptop, tablet, smartphone, etc. all at once at high speed, the power of “VOLTME Revo 140W” will come in handy.

Design

The PHYLINA S450 features a novel, lightweight design. The polycarbonate bottom shell has a clear butterfly design. Standard soles are made from 100% virgin PTFE. There is a USB-C charging port on the lower front of the mouse.

The initial value of debounce time (Debounce) is set arbitrarily. We recommend changing it to an appropriate value to avoid chattering.

You can change button assignments, scroll speed, brightness, DPI light color, LoD (Lift-off Distance) settings, etc. You can also change the initial values ​​assigned to DPI (400, 800, 1600, 2400, 3200, 6400).

It has an interface very similar to Pulsar and Lamzu dedicated apps. Therefore, the software cannot be launched at the same time as it conflicts with a competitor’s dedicated application. However, it is not a resident app, so it is a good idea to start it when configuring the settings.

The Uperfect UDock X 15.6 Pro’s slim frame houses a 12,000mAh battery. It charges at a max of 15W through USB-C. Uperfect claims it can get a maximum of 4-5 hours of usage after 3 hours of charging. This aligns with our findings.

While a 4-5 hour screen-on time is impressive for a small laptop, a 3-hour charging time can be considered slow by modern standards. That’s especially true when laptops of this size are starting to standardize 65-100W charging through USB-C. This maxes out batteries within 30 minutes. If you’re using the UDock X 15.6 Pro as a daily driver, there’s no going around it– you’re plugging this in at the end of every day. At least, it’ll look good on your nightstand.

Design and Appearance

The manufacturer has implemented not only a full-fledged keyboard, like in laptops but also added a touchpad panel with two button zones.

All necessary service and hot combinations are present, including FN. You can quickly control volume, brightness, and playback, and use standard operating system commands.

The set of interfaces is decent for such a “baby”. On the right, we find an on/off key, an OTG-compatible USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack, so use those if you want to listen to music.

On the left are the inputs- two USB-C ports and a mini HDMI port (for video and other data communication). The top USB-C port is only for charging up the LapDock and its large capacity battery, while the center USB-C port is used for connecting your external device like a mouse and keyboard.

In addition, We find speakers on the middle side of the upper front protrusion. However, the sound quality is… well, as expected. Think of it as office supplies.

The Uperfect UDock X LapDock is a rather large device with a display measuring about 15.6 inches wide and a very large keyboard covering the entire display. The display is a 15.6-inch model with a 1920 × 1080 pixel resolution and 16:9 ratio. It is an IPS panel with solid brightness, a 60Hz refresh rate, and 72% sRGB coverage. These are the typical specifications of a budget laptop screen. However, I have seen much worse, in much more expensive models.

Anyway, the content looks great on the display, and it is a touchscreen so that you can interact with the connected device, in most cases, with the display. The top and two sides of the LapDock have narrow bezels, while a one-inch bezel is found at the bottom.

The UPERFECT also has a touch-enabled OSD menu that makes it easy to adjust brightness, color, and a variety of other settings.

Specific control of the LapDock is made through an on-screen display that appears in the lower right corner when you swipe from right to left side. There, you can select the remaining battery capacity, volume, brightness, and interface.

Connect to Mini PC

The keyboard worked as well as the trackpad and the monitor’s touch screen worked too. When launching our website (www.igeekphone.com) on the Smartphone, it converted to full-screen mode while playing the cool video, and audio played through the UPERFECT’s built-in speakers.

Conclusion

I think it will be a useful device for those who need a large screen or 1080P resolution. I think it’s a good idea to have this device on your desk and use it as a display with a keyboard that you can immediately connect to your smartphone.

Presently, Sabrent has provided a number of storage options for SD memory cards for both mobile phones and photographic cameras, starting with economical options such as the V30 and the mid-range V60, up to the high-end V90, which we will start testing first, passing through the other options, and we will review in this review a memory card for photographic cameras of the SDXC type. The memory reading unit rests inside the box with a plastic cover on the USB Type-C. Besides, there is a warranty card and the need to register the unit to extend the warranty up to two years.

The unit and the technologies it offers

The unit comes with the standard dimensions for SD memory cards, with a length of 32 mm, a width of 23.88 mm, and a thickness of 2 mm, which are standard dimensions for memory cards for photographic cameras, with a plastic body that can withstand temperatures from -25 to 85 degrees Celsius. The card depends on operating chips from Toshiba and a PS8601 controller, and the total weight of the unit Storage reaches 2.835 grams.

The memory card provides good space for all uses, starting from simple uses for shooting photos with an area of ​​64 GB and even uses that include creating content, with an area of ​​512 GB. The memory mainly supports devices that operate on modern systems to provide the best performance and take advantage of the speed of the card and comes with the exFAT system with areas of 64 GB and up. 512GB, such as DSLR and Mirrorless cameras, as well as small mobile cameras that offer 4K, 6K, and 8K imaging capabilities.

There are different levels of protection that make the memory unit strong and withstand vibration, and water.

The read and write speed for the 256 GB version reaches 280 MB, read and write speed reaches 250 MB, becoming in the Class 10 UHS-II speed category, based on the TLC Flash chip, model BICS5, with 112 layers. There is a button on the memory card to close writing to it when needed.

When there is a need to transfer data from the memory unit and there is a need for a high speed of data transfer instead of the limited speeds of the camera interface, most of which rely on USB 2.0, there is a unit for reading storage memories provided by the company called the Sabrent USB Type-C Card Reader to support reading two memories at the same time, even the UHS interface. II and MicroSDXC SD 4.0 for reading speeds of up to 312MBps, with speeds divided between the two ports depending on usage.

Real-Life Testing

We used the card at the beginning of use with a photographic camera, and we did not find any problem with using the card for long periods or a decrease in the shooting speed while recording content in a large space and then installing the memory card on the laptop, especially with shooting 2K RAW videos on the Canon camera used for continuous shooting with degrees. The temperature did not exceed 30 degrees in a photography room with a temperature of 23 degrees.

On the other hand, we’ve brought forth a fresh approach to evaluating portable storage units and memory cards. Our method relies on just two benchmarks to provide a precise assessment of the performance of these storage devices. We’ve concentrated our testing efforts on USB sticks, SSDs, external HDDs, and memory cards. The Blackmagic Disk Speed Test is a handy tool to gauge how fast storage devices like hard drives or SSDs can read and write data. In this instance, we put it to the test with the Sabrent Rocket V90 storage device. The outcomes were quite impressive, showing a reading speed of 223 MB/s and a writing speed of 180 MB/s. These numbers suggest that the Rocket V90 performs admirably when it comes to moving data to and from the storage device.

Having a faster read speed can really speed up how quickly you can get to your stored data, and this can be super important in certain situations, like when you’re doing video editing and you need to access and work with large files fast. On the flip side, having a faster write speed can mean quicker data transfer rates, which comes in handy when you’re trying to back up a ton of data.

Card Reader

The SABRENT USB Type-C SD/MicroSD UHS-II Card reader delivers some really impressive transfer speeds! It’s able to match the theoretical rates of the UHS-II card format. When we put it to the test, the results were truly outstanding! We popped in a Sabrent UHS-II card and it achieved a remarkable read speed of 264MB/s and a write speed of 266MB/s. This is a pretty impressive result, and in fact, it’s the fastest we’ve ever seen from an external SD card reader! It even edges out the built-in reader on the MacBook Pro, albeit by a small margin.

The Type-C connection is really reliable too. I mean, it’s pretty impressive that it only took nine minutes to copy 114GB of data from the internal hard drive. This card reader is way faster than other SD card readers I’ve used, and it really lets you make the most of your cards and devices. When you’re dealing with high-resolution image files and videos, a faster transfer rate is a game-changer, and this card reader definitely delivers on that front.

Practical testing

Let’s start by examining the protocols supported by the type-C port. In practical testing, it can perfectly handle mainstream protocols like PD, QC, PPS, and FCP, with only a few private protocols posing challenges. The overall performance is impressive.

Charging my Lenovo Xiaoxin 10th-gen notebook, which doesn’t natively support Type-C charging, was made possible with a dedicated Lenovo decoy cable. The voltage was correctly identified at 20V, and the current ranged between 2A and 3A, maintaining charging power above 40W throughout the process. The combination of the notebook’s built-in battery and the 30000mAh power bank can easily sustain a full day of laptop use on the go.

Charging my 2019 iPad Air yielded a voltage reading of 15V and a current of 1.5A (with the tablet’s battery at around 61%). Apple products, known for their charging compatibility, had no issues here, making for a seamless experience.

After a few days of use, I discovered a new application—pairing the power bank with the XGIMI Z6 projector. Although this projector falls into the micro-projection category and lacks an internal battery, it can easily be transformed into a wireless device with the AOHi MAGCUBE P30.

The projector consumes about 50W, and the fully charged power bank provides extended operation.

The standout feature of this AOHi power bank is its type-C port’s support for two-way 100W fast charging. In actual testing, both charging and discharging power stabilized at around 95W.

With its 288Wh battery capacity and 300W inverter, it’s clearly meant to be a power station used to charge and power small devices like phones, tablets, laptops, eReaders, and similar electronics. But as I will show you in today’s review, that does not mean it’s not packed with features.

The power station and solar panel – two products

Unboxing

The presentation is correct, it even has a handle to facilitate the transport of the unit. This box in turn came inside another corrugated cardboard box that served as the first protection.

On the back, we find the specifications of the S300, where at a glance we can see the main specifications of the equipment.

When we open the box of the S300 we find a pouch with the rest of the accessories.

Once we remove the pouch and the manual, we have direct access to the S300 generator. The good thing is that the ALLPOWERS S300 station comes protected to avoid surprises with the carrier and the handling of the box.

Materials and first impression

As soon as we take the S300 out of the box, we realize that its weight is considerable for how compact it is, which already confirms what in my opinion is one of the main advantages of this device compared to other alternatives on the market. Externally, everything is quality plastic, the structure is solid, and even the handle seems quite resistant.

Functionality and Design

On the front, it has 2 Type G plugs since we have the UK model, although it is also marketed with the American socket. Just below we have an orange button that turns on the left lighting LED that follows it, a button to activate Bluetooth, a DC switch, another AC, the screen, and the right LED that is also accompanied by its own switch.

The appearance is that of a small car battery, to give you an approximate idea of how compact this generator is. The colors and design are correct for this type of device which tends to suffer a lot while we work with them, black and gray with some orange details on the handle and buttons.

If we go to one of the sides, we have the inputs for both its included power adapter and an Anderson type for MPPT or solar charging. In addition, we have the 12V cigarette lighter type connector that is used to power a large number of devices originally designed for the car but that can also serve as an input to charge the unit from the car cigarette lighter, so its behavior is bidirectional.

We go to the other side to find three USB 2.0 ports according to the color code, a USB-C port, and two 12V / 5.0A DC outputs of 5.5×2.5mm barrel type. Again, there are ventilation grills that allow the generator to be kept cool, and on this side, we can also see a fan that would help with this task.

On top of the unit, there is a 5W Qi charging pad. Nowadays most new phones and earbuds can charge wirelessly, and that lets you use the ports for other devices.

If we turn the ALLPOWERS S300 around we find 4 non-slip rubber feet that help keep the unit stable while protecting the plastic from damage and in turn cover the screws that give access to the internal part of the generator.

The sticker gives us the main characteristics, indicating the exact model: AP-SS-003, the capacity, the outputs, and inputs, as well as the certificates it has. In addition, we can see that we specifically have the S300 V2.0 model as seen in the upper right corner of it.

Going back to the front, it has two Type G plugs in which we can connect the devices that we want to power from our ALLPOWERS battery. Besides there are two LED lights, both have a small button next to them to turn them on and off.

The screen

One of the things I like most about electric generators is the control we have over what we connect. Being able to know the exact consumption at any given moment at a single glance allows us to get to know our equipment better and get more out of it.

The ALLPOWERS S300 solar generator display is adequate, similar to what we see in other solutions on the market, providing the information correctly and with a good level of brightness.

The way to activate the screen is to press any button on the station, and it will remain active for several seconds showing us the information of the station. Among these data, it is worth noting that we can see the estimated time until the battery runs out if the current consumption is maintained, that is, a linear estimate that changes over time depending on whether our devices demand more or less energy from the generator.

In addition, we can know the functions that are active, such as AC, DC, charging, or Bluetooth. It also tells us if any of the USB ports are in use.

Mobile App

ALLPOWERS has an APP that connects to the S300 via Bluetooth to give us true remote control of our generator and that has some very useful features.

This APP shows us the state of charge of the solar generator, as well as an estimate of the remaining energy available for current consumption. In addition to this information, we can remotely control the activation of the AC and DC sockets, as well as how to turn the LED lights on and off or change the frequency of the output DC wave to the 50 and 60Hz standards for those sensitive equipment that requires a specific frequency.

Once linked to the station via Bluetooth, we can access all the functionality.

We can see the current state of the charge as well as the power demand of the connected devices and turn the outputs on or off at a click away.

Pairing with the APP

To use the application, we must activate Bluetooth on the S300 by keeping the button dedicated to this functionality pressed and having Bluetooth turned on in our mobile, then open the ALLPOWERS application and select the station that will be detected whenever we are close to it, being the coverage radius of approximately 10 meters, something in accordance with the Bluetooth 4.0 standard, although it must be taken into account that if there are obstacles such as walls or glass, this coverage area could be reduced.

Testing

Perhaps the most exciting part of this type of review is when we put the devices through different tests and this was not going to be the exception. We have designed a series of tests that will allow us to see how far our ALLPOWERS S300 solar generator can go, Some are simple and others require some time and effort, so we will gradually add them.

Laptop + Smartphone + Speaker

Let’s start with something simple, imagine a situation where you do not have access to electricity or where you simply prefer to take free and clean energy from the sun to run a computer, a monitor, a tablet, and a speaker. Something quite common, at least in my house it is normal to use these devices at the same time quite frequently.

The total consumption of all these devices connected at the same time is 41W, so we have about 4 hours ahead of us and our battery is at 70% charge.

To maintain the longevity of the battery, we will always try to use it between 20% and 90% – a range in which it suffers much less than with a full discharge or full charge, it is a way of taking care of lithium batteries while also we work in a safer range.

Working for more than 4 hours with the station I have been able to verify that the times are met, the estimate indicated on the screen has been quite close to reality and I have only stopped early to stay within the proposed load range.

It’s worth noting that while I’m testing, I can remotely monitor the station’s performance very comfortably. In this way, I have also been able to verify that at times the consumption of the computer increased due to the work I am doing on it, which can be seen in the following screenshot.

Many ways to charge

When charging our ALLPOWERS S300 solar generator, we have different charging methods, the basic one is through the supplied transformer cable that is connected through a barrel-type connector. We can also charge the S300 using a solar panel and an Anderson-type connector and through the USB-C port. We can also combine the latter with the other 2 to increase the loading speed.

Charge via Solar Panel and USB-C with a GAN charger

Finally, you can charge off a solar panel using the Anderson Powerpole port, which is why these power stations are often called solar generators. There’s a built-in MPPT controller for more efficient solar charging and the input supports 16.6V to 24V up to 5A, which would be a maximum of 120W with the right solar panel in perfect conditions.

I tried the power station with the Allpowers AP-SP-027 100W solar panel, which is a fairly compact single-fold panel with polycrystalline cells.

There’s no IP rating but it’s listed as waterproof. Unlike the power station, it comes with a generous assortment of cables to connect to the popular integrated MC4 connectors.

All the cables are stored in a zipped pouch, together with two legs that have to be velcroed onto the solar panel. These two legs can be partially unvelcroed and pulled out to tilt the solar panel towards the sun, after opening up the velcro closure.

There’s an MC4 to Anderson cable to connect to the Allpowers. But there’s also a MC4 to DC 5521 with several adapters including the 7.9mm connector.

In the test, Allpowers AP-SP-027 100W solar panel got me about a 55W recharging speed. In my solar recharge test, I could recharge the power station from about 34% to 88% over about 5 hours. So, I think it should be a good match and the Allpowers manual quotes 10 hours to charge the 300W Allpowers off this panel.

On the other hand, this power station of ALLPOWERS does dual-feature recharging. The unit has an AC charging brick to recharge the power station via the DC input at 65W. You can also recharge this power station from the USB-C port at 60W, provided you have a 60W or higher Power Delivery charger. When you use the two input ports simultaneously, this power station can recharge at about 125W, much faster than the 65W AC recharging.

Conclusion

The AllPowers S300 is a portable power station that offers great capacity, power, and versatility. So it is the perfect portable power station for somebody that is looking for a small portable battery, but also the latest and greatest features. It will not power a microwave or your house, but it will charge your small electronics during a power outage or a camping trip. That’s all some buyers are looking for, and the Allpowers S300 can do that. It can’t do much more, but that’s fine.
