MIUI 10: Release Date

Xiaomi has said that Mi Mix 2s and Redmi Note 5 will see a new update preview on 1st June. Xiaomi Mi Note 3 and Redmi Note 3 will see a new update preview in July. Users of Mi MIX 2 and Mi 6 have already received the update. Some users have claimed on the MIUI forum that they have experience power draining issue after installing the MIUI 9.5. Others have claimed that the MIUI 9.5 is automatically disabling alarm clock notifications and WeChat messages.

Xiaomi is already aware of the issue and has confirmed through its engineers that there is a temporary fix to resolve the issue. It requires users to disable Google Framework and Google Mobile Services. For users with Chinese variant of Xiaomi phones that are facing these issues, they are advised to even remove GMS apps like Gmail, Google Search and Play Store.

The official forum has error logs of the issue. It shows that Google Mobile Services was sending out very high number of alerts that caused the devices to lose battery power and it also affected apps like alarm and WeChat. Xiaomi is likely to release a new patch in the near future to resolve the issue.

One should be aware of the fact that the rollout of the MIUI 9 Global ROM had started in November 2017 after it was made official in July. However, it is only now that the Chinese manufacturer has given out an official confirmation on the devices that are eligible to get updated to MIUI 9 in India.

The MIUI 9 update is now available as OTA update. It means users of the aforementioned phones who have not installed the MIUI 9 update will soon see a notification on the arrival of the update. Alternatively, users can manually check for the availability of the update by going to Settings > About Phone > System update. Xiaomi phone users are advisable to perform a data backup for updating to MIUI 9.
