Huawei is reportedly expanding its foldable PC lineup with a new compact MateBook Fold, expected to debut in the fourth quarter of 2026. According to information shared by Chinese tech tipster ZhiJiao Digital, the upcoming device will introduce a smaller form factor while retaining Huawei’s premium foldable notebook experience and adding a new external display for enhanced convenience.

The report comes as Huawei prepares to unveil an updated version of its existing MateBook Fold later today, which is expected to retain its signature 18-inch foldable display and overall design.

Compact Foldable Design with External Display

Unlike the current large-screen MateBook Fold, the new model is said to focus on portability without sacrificing productivity.

One of its biggest upgrades is the addition of an external display, allowing users to perform everyday tasks without unfolding the main screen. The cover display is expected to support functions such as:

Viewing and replying to WeChat notifications

Previewing calendar events and schedules

Creating quick notes

Scanning QR codes

Screen projection and casting

Accessing other lightweight productivity tools

This design aims to make the device more practical for quick interactions while commuting or during short work sessions, reducing the need to fully unfold the laptop for simple tasks.

Igeekphone News August 4, 2026 – Apple is reportedly preparing a major upgrade to its mobile photography system with the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro series, which is expected to debut in September 2026. According to recent leaks, the new flagship will become the first iPhone model to feature a variable aperture camera, marking a significant step forward in Apple’s smartphone imaging technology.

The rumored camera innovation would allow the iPhone 18 Pro to dynamically adjust the amount of light entering the lens, bringing smartphone photography closer to the behavior of traditional cameras.

iPhone 18 Pro May Introduce Variable Aperture Main Camera

According to leaked information, the iPhone 18 Pro will feature a triple-camera system consisting of three 48MP sensors.

The main camera is expected to support a variable aperture mechanism with the following specifications:

Aperture range: f/1.6 to f/4.0

Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) support

48MP main sensor

Interestingly, these aperture specifications are reportedly identical to those of the Huawei Pura 80 Pro, which also introduced a variable aperture system with an adjustment range from f/1.6 to f/4.0.

If confirmed, Apple would be adopting a technology that has already appeared in some high-end Android smartphones, while integrating its own computational photography advantages.

How Variable Aperture Improves Smartphone Photography

Traditional smartphone cameras typically use a fixed aperture lens, meaning the amount of incoming light cannot be physically adjusted. Variable aperture technology changes this by allowing the lens opening to expand or contract, similar to how the human eye adjusts its pupil.

This provides several key benefits.

Improved Low-Light Photography

In darker environments, such as nighttime scenes or indoor photography, the aperture can open wider to allow more light to reach the sensor.

The increased light intake can help:

Reduce image noise

Improve detail preservation

Produce cleaner low-light photos

Enhance overall image quality

This allows the camera to capture brighter and more natural images without relying entirely on software-based processing.

Better Exposure Control in Bright Environments

Under strong lighting conditions, the aperture can narrow to reduce excessive light entering the sensor.

This helps:

Prevent overexposed highlights

Improve image balance

Preserve fine details

Enhance edge clarity

The ability to adjust aperture gives the camera greater flexibility across different shooting conditions.

More Natural Depth-of-Field Effects

One of the biggest advantages of variable aperture is improved control over depth of field.

Previously, smartphone portrait effects relied heavily on computational photography algorithms to simulate background blur. While modern AI processing has become increasingly advanced, software-generated bokeh can sometimes struggle with complex edges and natural transitions.

With a wider physical aperture, the iPhone 18 Pro could create genuine optical background separation, resulting in:

More natural blur

Smoother transitions between foreground and background

Better portrait photography

Improved close-up shots

This could bring smartphone photography closer to the look of professional cameras.

Greater Creative Control for Users

Variable aperture could also provide users with more creative flexibility.

Instead of relying on fixed camera settings, photographers may be able to adjust aperture according to their needs, switching between:

Wide aperture for strong background blur and portrait shots

Narrow aperture for landscape photography with greater overall sharpness

This would give smartphone users more control over their images and expand the creative possibilities of mobile photography.

Powered by Apple’s A20 Pro Chip

Beyond camera improvements, the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to introduce Apple’s next-generation A20 Pro chipset.

The processor is rumored to be manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process technology, making it one of Apple’s most advanced mobile chips to date.

The A20 Pro is expected to deliver improvements in:

Image processing performance

Artificial intelligence workloads

Computational photography

Gaming performance

Overall system efficiency

The combination of advanced camera hardware and a more powerful AI-focused processor could significantly enhance Apple’s photography pipeline.

A New Era for iPhone Camera Technology

Apple has traditionally focused on improving smartphone photography through sensor upgrades, computational algorithms, and image processing software. The introduction of a variable aperture lens would represent a shift toward more advanced optical hardware.

If the leaks prove accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro could combine:

Triple 48MP camera system

Variable aperture main lens

Advanced OIS stabilization

A20 Pro 2nm processor

Next-generation AI image processing

With smartphone camera competition becoming increasingly intense, the iPhone 18 Pro’s rumored variable aperture system could become one of its most important upgrades and a major milestone in Apple’s imaging development.

Apple has not yet officially confirmed the iPhone 18 Pro specifications, so final camera features, pricing, and availability will need to wait until the company’s official launch event.

Huawei is reportedly preparing the second generation of its unconventional foldable smartphone lineup. According to a new leak, the Huawei Pura X2 is expected to debut in March 2027, building on the distinctive wide-folding design introduced with the original Pura X.

The information comes from Chinese tipster SuperV, who claims the upcoming device will retain the series’ signature form factor while introducing refinements to its display proportions for an improved viewing experience.

A Different Take on Foldable Smartphones

When Huawei unveiled the original Pura X in March 2025, it introduced a fresh approach to foldable smartphones by adopting a 16:10 aspect ratio for its inner display rather than the nearly square panels commonly found on book-style foldables.

Despite featuring a relatively compact 6.3-inch display, the Pura X offered a usable screen area comparable to significantly larger flagship smartphones. According to Huawei, the device’s display measures approximately 114.89 cm², nearly matching the 115.47 cm² display area of Apple’s 6.9-inch iPhone 16 Pro Max.

This design allowed Huawei to deliver a larger effective viewing area while maintaining a compact form factor that is easier to carry than traditional foldable devices.

Pura X2 May Introduce a New Display Ratio

According to the latest leak, the Huawei Pura X2 will continue to feature a 6.3-inch inner display, but Huawei is expected to refine the screen proportions.

Instead of the original 16:10 aspect ratio, the new model is reportedly moving to a 2:1 display ratio for both the inner and outer screens. While the overall screen size is said to remain unchanged, the revised proportions could offer a more balanced visual experience for everyday tasks and multimedia consumption.

Although Huawei has yet to confirm any specifications, the adjustment suggests the company is continuing to optimize its unique foldable design based on user feedback.

Optimized for Modern Content

One of the key advantages of the Pura X series has been its focus on improving the way modern content is displayed.

Traditional book-style foldable smartphones typically feature nearly square internal displays. While these provide a large canvas for productivity and multitasking, they often leave substantial unused space when displaying widescreen videos, resulting in prominent black bars.

Because most streaming content, online videos, and short-form media are produced in aspect ratios close to 16:9, Huawei’s wider display format allows more of the screen to be utilized during video playback. The result is a larger effective viewing area with reduced letterboxing, creating a more immersive entertainment experience without increasing the overall size of the device.

By positioning the Pura X series between conventional book-style foldables and compact clamshell models, Huawei has created a distinctive third category in the foldable smartphone market.

A Successful Foundation

The original Huawei Pura X reportedly became one of the company’s most successful foldable devices, with Chinese industry sources claiming cumulative sales of approximately 1.5 million units. While Huawei has not officially disclosed sales figures, the model’s innovative wide-folding design was widely regarded as one of the standout smartphone concepts of 2025.

Its combination of portability and expanded usable display area helped differentiate it from competing foldable devices, earning strong interest among consumers looking for an alternative to traditional foldable designs.

What to Expect

Although Huawei has not officially announced the Pura X2, current rumors suggest the company is focused on refining rather than reinventing the concept. By retaining the compact 6.3-inch display while introducing a revised aspect ratio, Huawei appears to be aiming for an even more practical balance between portability, productivity, and multimedia performance.

If the reported launch window proves accurate, the Huawei Pura X2 is expected to debut in March 2027, with additional details regarding its hardware, camera system, chipset, pricing, and international availability likely to emerge in the months leading up to its official announcement.

Huawei is expected to expand its foldable smartphone portfolio once again with the launch of the Mate XT2, the successor to its pioneering triple-fold device. According to the latest industry leaks, the upcoming flagship could debut in September, bringing a completely redesigned folding mechanism, enhanced durability, and Huawei’s next-generation Kirin processor.

While Huawei has yet to officially confirm the launch date, multiple reports suggest the Mate XT2 is nearing its official debut, although it remains unclear whether it will be unveiled alongside the anticipated Mate 90 series or at a separate event.

A New U-Shaped Triple-Fold Design

According to information shared by Chinese tipster Focus Digital, the most significant upgrade to the Mate XT2 is its new U-shaped triple-fold architecture, replacing the S-shaped folding design used by its predecessor.

The redesigned mechanism allows both side panels to fold inward simultaneously, fully enclosing the flexible main display when the device is folded.

Unlike conventional outward-folding designs, the primary screen remains completely protected inside the chassis during everyday use, minimizing the risk of scratches, impacts, and accidental damage.

This new structure is expected to offer several advantages:

Better protection for the flexible display

Reduced exposure to everyday wear and tear

Improved resistance to scratches and drops

Enhanced long-term durability

A cleaner and more refined folded appearance

Improved Crease Management

One of the biggest criticisms of foldable smartphones has been the visibility of display creases. According to the latest leak, Huawei has made substantial progress in this area.

The Mate XT2 is said to combine its new U-shaped folding mechanism with Huawei’s self-developed precision hinge and updated flexible laminated materials, resulting in significantly improved crease control.

The redesigned hinge is expected to distribute stress more evenly across the flexible panel, helping the display remain flatter when fully opened while maintaining structural rigidity when folded.

If the reports prove accurate, the Mate XT2 could deliver one of the smoothest folding displays currently available in the industry.

Secondary External Display for Everyday Tasks

Another notable addition is a dedicated rear external display, allowing users to perform common tasks without unfolding the main screen.

According to the leak, the secondary display will support functions such as:

Making and receiving phone calls

Viewing and replying to messages

Mobile payments

QR code scanning

Quick notifications

Other frequently used daily functions

This approach could improve convenience while also reducing the need to repeatedly unfold the large internal display, potentially extending the lifespan of the flexible screen.

10.2-Inch Internal Display

The Mate XT2 is expected to retain its 10.2-inch internal display, preserving the tablet-like experience introduced by the previous generation.

Several display upgrades are reportedly planned, including:

A 120Hz refresh rate for smoother scrolling and animations

UFG (Ultra-Flexible Glass) protection

Higher light transmission

Improved touch responsiveness

Further reduction in visible display creases

These enhancements aim to deliver a more natural viewing and interaction experience while improving overall display durability.

Powered by Huawei’s Next-Generation Kirin Chip

Under the hood, the Mate XT2 is rumored to become the first device powered by Huawei’s next-generation flagship processor, widely expected to be marketed as the Kirin 9050 series.

Although Huawei has not officially confirmed the chipset’s specifications, it is expected to deliver significant improvements in CPU performance, graphics processing, AI computing capabilities, and overall energy efficiency compared with previous Kirin platforms.

The smartphone is also expected to ship with the latest version of HarmonyOS, further strengthening Huawei’s software and hardware integration for multitasking, productivity, and large-screen experiences.

Launch Expected in September

Huawei has not yet announced an official launch schedule for the Mate XT2. However, current reports point to a September debut, with additional information likely to emerge in the coming weeks.

If the leaked details are accurate, the Mate XT2 could represent a major evolution in foldable smartphone design. Its innovative U-shaped triple-fold mechanism, improved crease management, protected internal display, secondary external screen, and next-generation Kirin chipset suggest Huawei is continuing to push the boundaries of foldable mobile technology.

As always, these specifications remain based on leaks and industry reports until Huawei makes an official announcement.

Huawei’s upcoming Nova 16 SE has surfaced in newly leaked hands-on images, offering an early look at the smartphone’s refreshed design ahead of its official unveiling. According to images shared by Chinese tipster Super Dimension, the device adopts a redesigned camera layout, introduces a striking new gradient color option, and is expected to feature Huawei’s Kirin 8020 chipset alongside the company’s latest Red Maple Color Camera technology.

Huawei is expected to officially announce the Nova 16 SE during its All-Scenario New Product Launch Event on August 5.

New Camera Design Inspired by Flagship Trends

The leaked images reveal that the Nova 16 SE features a prominent horizontal rectangular camera module on the rear panel. The arrangement of the camera lenses bears similarities to recent flagship smartphone designs, with three large circular lenses positioned within the module.

The back panel also prominently displays both the Huawei and nova branding near the bottom, maintaining the visual identity of the Nova series while introducing a more premium aesthetic.

New Gradient Color Pays Tribute to the Pura 90 Pro Max

One of the most eye-catching aspects of the leak is the introduction of a brand-new gradient color finish.

In addition to traditional black and white variants, Huawei is reportedly preparing a vibrant gradient version that appears to draw inspiration from the Huawei Pura 90 Pro Max, the company’s flagship smartphone launched earlier this year.

The Pura 90 Pro Max introduced the distinctive Orange Sea colorway, featuring a seamless transition from lake blue at the top to warm orange at the bottom. Combined with an industry-first dual-color gradient metal frame, the design created a striking visual effect reminiscent of the ocean meeting the sunset.

The Nova 16 SE adopts a similar design philosophy but with its own interpretation. According to the leaked images, the color gradually transitions from a lighter upper section into a vivid orange finish toward the bottom, giving the device a youthful appearance while maintaining strong visual recognition.

The design also reflects Huawei’s continued interest in gradient finishes, echoing the iconic color treatments introduced during the era of the Huawei P20 and P30 series.

Powered by the Kirin 8020

Internally, the Nova 16 SE is expected to be equipped with Huawei’s Kirin 8020 processor, positioning the smartphone within the upper mid-range segment.

According to previously released performance information, the Kirin 8020 delivers substantial improvements over earlier Kirin platforms:

CPU multi-core performance improved by 52%

GPU performance increased by 26%

NPU (AI processor) performance improved by 128%

These enhancements are expected to provide smoother multitasking, stronger gaming performance, faster AI processing, and improved overall system responsiveness.

Red Maple Color Camera for More Accurate Color Reproduction

Another notable feature expected to debut on the Nova 16 SE is Huawei’s Red Maple Color Camera technology.

Rather than functioning as a conventional camera sensor, the Red Maple Color Camera operates as a multi-spectral sensor designed to analyze ambient light and accurately capture color information within a scene.

By collecting spectral data from the surrounding environment, the system can improve color reproduction and deliver photos with more natural and lifelike tones under a variety of lighting conditions.

This technology has previously appeared in Huawei’s premium devices and now appears to be making its way to the Nova series, bringing flagship-inspired imaging capabilities to a broader audience.

Official Launch on August 5

Huawei is expected to unveil the Nova 16 SE alongside several other new products during its All-Scenario New Product Launch Event on August 5.

While Huawei has yet to officially confirm the smartphone’s full specifications, the latest leaks suggest the Nova 16 SE will combine a refreshed premium design, a distinctive gradient finish, upgraded imaging technology, and the new Kirin 8020 processor to strengthen Huawei’s position in the competitive mid-range smartphone market.

More information, including pricing, regional availability, camera specifications, and additional hardware details, is expected to be revealed during the official launch event.

The foldable phone category doesn’t have a clear leader yet. We can’t call it the Samsung Galaxy Fold because its initial launch stumbled. The relaunch showed that while Samsung may be the top mobile brand in the world, it’s far from perfect. No one has reported any significant issues. There are minor issues.

The Galaxy Fold wasn’t the first foldable phone to hit the market. That title goes to the Royole FlexPai. It proved the foldable-flexible phone era had begun. It drew the attention of tech fans. They tested its durability with enthusiasm and conducted teardown analyses. The FlexPai quickly sold out in China, making a lasting impression on the industry.

Samsung began developing flexible screens as early as 2016. Bendable screens and rollable displays hinted at foldable phones. They were on the horizon. Around this time, patents and designs from brands like Lenovo, LG, OPPO, and Huawei began to surface. Of them, Samsung was the top contender. Its rumored foldable phone, the Galaxy X, fueled market speculation and excitement.

Foldable phones are creating a buzz. People are checking out the latest tech and logging into apps like Dragon Slots login. The race to lead this category is heating up.

The Galaxy Fold’s Rocky Start and the Rise of the Foldable Phone Rivalry

Samsung did announce the Galaxy Fold. The mobile industry excitedly embraced it. Then, the reports of broken displays after a few days disappointed it. The company postponed the market release. It canceled employee training and the big launch. The foldable phone underwent a process of redesign and a bunch of testing.

Samsung finally relaunched the Galaxy Fold, which was soon sold out in South Korea. It has been a long journey for the Galaxy Fold.

The Huawei Mate X is a rival to the foldable smartphone, but it has not been released yet. Huawei has always tried to compete with Samsung. The foldable phone category is no exception. Unfortunately, because of the problems with the Galaxy Fold, Huawei had to delay the release of the MateX . They wanted to avoid similar problems and criticism.

Meanwhile, Motorola won the fight by releasing the RAZR foldable phone. It’s a fresh rendition of the famous Moto RAZR line, which came out during the early 2000s. The release has been cooking since the start of 2019. The authorities granted a patent, and the rumor mill started churning. It was quickly confirmed. Then, in November, the Motorola RAZR foldable phone became official. The old icon gets a more modern take with the foldable display.

With the arrival of the Motorola RAZR, the foldable phone arena is suddenly shaking. Samsung has another rival. The Huawei Mate X isn’t available, at least not yet. We know more OEMs will try to use their foldable phones. The industry will only ask one thing: Are foldables worth it?

Are Foldables Worth It?

For comparison, the price of the Samsung Galaxy Fold is about $1,980, while the Huawei Mate X costs some $2,400. The new Moto RAZR will sell for $1,500 at retailers. It’s cheaper than the $1,300 Royole FlexPai. These devices go for over a thousand bucks. That is a lot of money, but many people are still willing to buy foldable phones. Some may not care. But, for practicality, we want to know if a foldable phone is worth buying.

The foldable phone business is relatively young. It hasn’t proven anything yet. We like the big screen that can shrink. But, foldable screens are still imperfect. The phone’s size isn’t exactly comfortable. It may not even fit in your hand.

We do not doubt that newer and foldable phones will be better. We can look forward to advanced mobility, performance, speed, and more. The foldable phone category can still be innovative, but we hope the price will decrease.

Igeekphone, July 28 – Apple’s traditional September iPhone launch event could undergo its biggest transformation in more than a decade. According to multiple reports from supply chain sources, the company is considering splitting its next-generation iPhone lineup into two launch windows, with premium models arriving in late 2026 and mainstream models following several months later.

If accurate, the strategy would represent a significant shift in Apple’s product release cycle, potentially reshaping its manufacturing plans, marketing strategy, and competitive positioning.

It is important to note that Apple has not officially confirmed these reports, and both the release schedule and product lineup remain subject to change.

A Two-Phase Launch Strategy

Current supply chain reports suggest Apple plans to unveil the following devices during its traditional September 2026 launch event:

iPhone 18 Pro

iPhone 18 Pro Max

Apple’s first foldable iPhone

The remaining models would reportedly debut in spring 2027, including:

iPhone 18

iPhone 18e

Second-generation iPhone Air

The rumor gained additional attention after the chairman of Japanese electronic component manufacturer Taiyo Yuden, one of Apple’s camera component suppliers, reportedly stated that a major U.S. customer had postponed the launch of a key product until the first quarter of 2027. While the company did not explicitly mention Apple, the timing aligns with recent supply chain speculation.

September 2026 Could Focus Entirely on Premium Devices

Under the rumored strategy, Apple’s autumn event would become an exclusive showcase for its highest-end smartphones.

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max would continue serving as Apple’s flagship models, while the company’s long-awaited foldable iPhone would represent its biggest innovation in years.

Rumored upgrades for the Pro lineup include:

Variable-aperture main camera

Next-generation LTPO+ display technology

Apple’s custom-designed C2 modem

New in-house wireless connectivity chip

Satellite-enhanced 5G communication

Improved battery life

More advanced imaging capabilities

Rather than introducing a dramatic redesign, Apple is expected to focus on refining core technologies such as performance, cameras, battery efficiency, and connectivity.

Foldable iPhone Expected to Become Apple’s Ultra-Premium Flagship

The foldable iPhone is widely expected to adopt a book-style inward-folding design similar to existing foldable smartphones.

When unfolded, it is rumored to offer a display approaching the size of a compact iPad, creating a hybrid smartphone-tablet experience.

Industry estimates suggest pricing could exceed US$2,000, with some analysts predicting a price closer to US$2,500.

Rather than targeting high shipment volumes, Apple’s first foldable device is expected to serve as a technology showcase, highlighting the company’s advances in:

Hinge engineering

Foldable display technology

Software optimization

Industrial design

Durability

As with any first-generation foldable device, manufacturing remains considerably more complex than conventional smartphones, with challenges including display yields, hinge reliability, chassis thickness, and software adaptation.

Why Delay the Standard iPhone 18?

The reported postponement of the standard iPhone 18 appears to be driven primarily by manufacturing and supply chain considerations.

Apple’s smartphone portfolio has expanded significantly in recent years. Producing six new iPhone models—including Pro, Pro Max, Air, e-series, standard, and foldable versions—within a single launch window would place enormous pressure on suppliers of processors, displays, camera modules, structural components, and assembly lines.

Launching premium devices first would allow Apple to prioritize production capacity for its highest-margin products while easing manufacturing demands for the broader lineup.

Chip Supply Could Also Influence Apple’s Plans

Another major factor may be Apple’s transition to 2nm semiconductor technology.

According to industry speculation, the A20 Pro processor could initially be reserved for the Pro models and the foldable iPhone, where higher profit margins help offset the increased manufacturing costs of cutting-edge chips.

Delaying the standard iPhone 18 by several months would provide additional time for semiconductor yields to improve and production costs to decline before mass production begins.

Because the standard iPhone typically accounts for the largest shipment volumes, postponing its release could reduce competition for limited supplies of advanced processors, displays, and manufacturing resources.

A New Sales Strategy Across the Year

Apple’s current sales cycle is heavily concentrated between September and December, driven by new product launches, the holiday shopping season, and major retail promotions around the world.

By splitting launches across two seasons, Apple could create two major sales peaks annually:

September 2026

iPhone 18 Pro

iPhone 18 Pro Max

Foldable iPhone

Spring 2027

iPhone 18

iPhone 18e

New iPhone Air

Such a strategy would help maintain consumer interest throughout the year while reducing Apple’s dependence on a single holiday quarter.

It would also extend marketing opportunities, improve inventory management, and potentially stabilize revenue across multiple fiscal quarters.

Potential Risks

While the strategy offers several advantages, it also introduces new challenges.

The standard iPhone has traditionally represented one of Apple’s highest-volume products. Without it during the autumn launch season, consumers unwilling to purchase a more expensive Pro model may simply postpone upgrading.

Because the first-generation foldable iPhone is expected to have limited production volumes, it is unlikely to fully compensate for the missing shipments normally generated by the standard model.

If Pro models also receive price increases, some customers could choose to keep their existing devices for longer, extending replacement cycles and reducing overall unit sales.

Longer Lifecycle for Older Models

Another consequence of the reported strategy is that the iPhone 17 would remain Apple’s mainstream non-Pro offering for approximately 18 months.

This would help Apple reduce inventory depreciation by extending the commercial lifespan of previous-generation models and minimizing rapid price declines immediately after new launches.

However, it would also leave the iPhone 17 competing against significantly newer Android flagship devices throughout much of 2026, potentially making it appear less competitive in areas such as AI capabilities, camera technology, battery capacity, and charging performance.

Greater Opportunities for Android Manufacturers

The delayed arrival of the standard iPhone 18 could create additional opportunities for Android smartphone makers, particularly in China and other highly competitive markets.

If only premium-priced iPhone models are available during autumn 2026, many consumers shopping in the upper mid-range segment may instead consider flagship devices from brands such as:

Huawei Mate series

Xiaomi flagship series

OPPO Find series

vivo X series

By the second half of 2026, many Android manufacturers are expected to offer next-generation processors, advanced periscope telephoto cameras, larger batteries, faster charging technologies, and increasingly sophisticated on-device AI features.

Meanwhile, Apple could still be selling the previous-generation iPhone 17 as its mainstream offering, potentially weakening its competitive position in markets where specification-driven purchasing decisions remain influential.

Outlook

Although none of these reports have been officially confirmed, the rumored split-launch strategy reflects Apple’s increasingly diverse product portfolio and the growing complexity of manufacturing premium smartphones.

If implemented, the approach would prioritize profitability and supply chain efficiency by launching high-end models first, while giving mainstream devices their own dedicated spotlight several months later. It would also mark one of the most significant changes to Apple’s iPhone release strategy since the product line was introduced.

For now, the industry will be watching closely to see whether Apple breaks with its long-established September launch tradition—or whether the standard iPhone continues to debut alongside its Pro counterparts as it has for years.

Igeekphone News, July 28 – Huawei is reportedly preparing to expand its Nova 16 lineup with the introduction of the Huawei Nova 16 SE. According to Chinese tech tipster Dingzhao Digital, the new smartphone is scheduled to debut on August 5, bringing back the SE series after a three-year absence.

The upcoming device is expected to feature a refreshed gradient design, Huawei’s Kirin 8020 processor, and the company’s flagship-inspired Red Maple Imaging technology, marking the first time this advanced camera system is expected to reach the mid-range Nova SE lineup.

Nova SE Series Returns After Three Years

Powered by the Kirin 8020

At the heart of the Nova 16 SE is the Kirin 8020, Huawei’s latest mid-range mobile chipset.

According to the leaked information, the new processor delivers notable performance improvements over its predecessor:

52% higher multi-core CPU performance

26% faster GPU performance

128% improvement in NPU (AI processing) performance

These upgrades are expected to provide smoother everyday performance, improved gaming capabilities, and significantly enhanced on-device AI features.

Flagship Red Maple Imaging Comes to the Mid-Range

One of the Nova 16 SE’s most notable features is expected to be Huawei’s Red Maple Color Camera, a technology previously reserved for higher-end devices.

Unlike a conventional camera sensor, the Red Maple Color Camera functions as a multispectral sensor, designed to capture environmental light and color information with exceptional precision.

The sensor reportedly features more than 1.5 million multispectral channels, enabling it to record image-level spectral data from the surrounding environment.

During image processing, the camera system combines this spectral information with data captured by the primary camera and other imaging sensors. Huawei’s AI algorithms then analyze and compare the information to generate colors that more closely match the real-world scene.

The result is expected to include:

More accurate color reproduction

Improved white balance

Reduced color deviation

More natural-looking photos

Enhanced consistency across different lighting conditions

This technology aims to address one of the longstanding challenges of smartphone photography—accurately reproducing colors as they appear to the human eye.

Bringing Flagship Imaging to More Users

The Nova 16 SE is expected to become Huawei’s first mid-range smartphone to feature Red Maple Imaging technology, extending a flagship-level camera capability to a more affordable price segment.

By combining the Kirin 8020 platform with advanced AI-powered imaging, Huawei appears to be positioning the Nova 16 SE as a compelling option for users who prioritize photography without stepping up to the company’s premium flagship models.

Expected Launch

Based on the latest leak, the Huawei Nova 16 SE is expected to be officially unveiled on August 5.

OPPO has reached another milestone in charging technology, with the upcoming Find X9 Ultra becoming the first smartphone to receive certification under the latest UFCS 1.2 unified fast charging standard.

According to an announcement from the FCA Terminal Fast Charging Industry Association, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra has officially passed fast charging conformity and compatibility testing, earning the industry’s first UFCS 1.2 smartphone certification along with authorization to use the UFCS trademark.

The achievement follows the OPPO Pad 5 Pro, which previously became the world’s first tablet certified under the UFCS 1.2 standard. Together, the certifications position OPPO as the first manufacturer to complete the deployment of the latest UFCS standard across both smartphones and tablets.

What Is UFCS 1.2?

UFCS (Universal Fast Charging Specification) is a unified fast charging protocol developed to improve compatibility between charging devices from different manufacturers.

The initiative was jointly launched by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) alongside leading Chinese smartphone makers including Huawei, OPPO, vivo, and Honor, with contributions from chipset vendors and other industry partners.

The standard is designed to solve one of the biggest challenges in the mobile industry: the fragmentation of proprietary fast charging technologies. By establishing a common charging protocol, UFCS aims to deliver faster, safer, and more universally compatible charging across a wide range of devices.

UFCS 1.2 Brings Better Compatibility and Safety

Compared with the previous version, UFCS 1.2 introduces several key improvements:

More intelligent power negotiation for optimized charging performance

Expanded compatibility with higher-power devices

Enhanced safety protection throughout the charging process

Improved interoperability between proprietary and universal fast charging systems

One of the defining features of UFCS 1.2 is its dual-compatibility architecture, allowing manufacturers to maintain their own high-speed charging technologies while ensuring compatibility with third-party UFCS-certified chargers.

For consumers, this means greater flexibility when using chargers and accessories from different brands without sacrificing charging performance or safety.

OPPO Find X9 Ultra Supports Up to 100W Charging

According to the certification details, the OPPO Find X9 Ultra will support:

100W wired SuperVOOC fast charging

50W wireless fast charging

100W proprietary UFCS integrated fast charging

44W public UFCS universal fast charging

The device’s compatibility with both OPPO’s proprietary charging ecosystem and the broader UFCS standard means users will be able to take advantage of high-speed charging across a wider range of certified third-party chargers.

Whether at home, in the office, or while traveling, compatible UFCS charging accessories should provide a more convenient and consistent charging experience.

A Broader Vision Beyond Smartphones

Although UFCS was initially developed for mobile devices, its long-term ambitions extend far beyond smartphones.

The standard is designed to support a wide variety of consumer electronics, including:

Smartphones

Tablets

Portable speakers

VR headsets

Smart accessories

Future versions are also expected to expand into higher-power applications such as electric vehicles and small household appliances, creating a more unified charging ecosystem across multiple product categories.

Strengthening OPPO’s Leadership in Charging Technology

With the Find X9 Ultra becoming the first smartphone to achieve UFCS 1.2 certification, OPPO continues to strengthen its reputation as one of the industry’s leaders in fast charging innovation.

As charging standards become increasingly important in an ecosystem with countless devices and accessories, broader adoption of unified protocols like UFCS could significantly reduce compatibility issues while delivering faster, safer, and more convenient charging experiences for users worldwide.

While OPPO has yet to officially unveil the Find X9 Ultra, its early certification under the latest UFCS standard suggests the flagship will place a strong emphasis on next-generation charging technology alongside its premium hardware.
