Huawei is reportedly preparing the second generation of its unconventional foldable smartphone lineup. According to a new leak, the Huawei Pura X2 is expected to debut in March 2027, building on the distinctive wide-folding design introduced with the original Pura X.
The information comes from Chinese tipster SuperV, who claims the upcoming device will retain the series’ signature form factor while introducing refinements to its display proportions for an improved viewing experience.
A Different Take on Foldable Smartphones
When Huawei unveiled the original Pura X in March 2025, it introduced a fresh approach to foldable smartphones by adopting a 16:10 aspect ratio for its inner display rather than the nearly square panels commonly found on book-style foldables.
Despite featuring a relatively compact 6.3-inch display, the Pura X offered a usable screen area comparable to significantly larger flagship smartphones. According to Huawei, the device’s display measures approximately 114.89 cm², nearly matching the 115.47 cm² display area of Apple’s 6.9-inch iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Because most streaming content, online videos, and short-form media are produced in aspect ratios close to 16:9, Huawei’s wider display format allows more of the screen to be utilized during video playback.
