According to information shared by a well-known Chinese tech blogger, the upcoming release focuses on a complete reconstruction of the system’s underlying architecture rather than incremental feature additions.

A Fresh Start Beyond MIUI

The biggest highlight of HyperOS 4 is said to be its “zero legacy” architecture.

According to previous leaks, Xiaomi’s software engineers have completely removed outdated code and legacy software development kits (SDKs) inherited from the MIUI era. As a result, HyperOS 4 is expected to become the first Xiaomi operating system built entirely without legacy MIUI components.

This extensive cleanup is designed to improve system efficiency while simplifying future software development and long-term maintenance.

Core System Rewritten with Modern Technologies

On the technical side, Xiaomi has reportedly rebuilt many of HyperOS 4’s core modules using the Rust programming language alongside the Flutter framework, replacing much of the older Java- and Kotlin-based architecture that accumulated over years of MIUI development.

The transition to a modern software stack is expected to provide several benefits, including:

Improved system stability

Better security through Rust’s memory-safe architecture

More efficient resource management

Easier future software maintenance

A stronger foundation for AI-powered features

This represents one of the most ambitious architectural changes Xiaomi has made to its mobile operating system.

Significant Performance Improvements

The underlying redesign is also expected to deliver noticeable gains in everyday performance.

According to the leaked information, HyperOS 4 offers:

Higher background app retention

Lower idle memory consumption

Faster application launching

More efficient resource scheduling

Improved multitasking performance

Perhaps most importantly, Xiaomi is reportedly addressing one of Android’s long-standing pain points: gradual performance degradation over time.

The company claims the new architecture dramatically reduces the slowdown that many smartphones experience after months or years of use, allowing devices to maintain smoother performance throughout their lifespan.

Better Experience for Mid-Range Devices

The lightweight kernel redesign is also expected to benefit more affordable smartphones.

By optimizing system resource scheduling, HyperOS 4 should allow mid-range and entry-level Xiaomi devices to deliver a smoother and more consistent user experience without requiring flagship-level hardware.

This optimization reflects Xiaomi’s broader strategy of improving software efficiency rather than relying solely on increasingly powerful chipsets.

New Liquid Glass-Inspired Interface

Alongside performance improvements, HyperOS 4 is also rumored to introduce a refreshed visual identity.

The new interface reportedly adopts a liquid glass-inspired design language, featuring translucent effects and dynamic animations similar to the design trends currently emerging across the mobile industry.

Users will reportedly be able to choose between two visual styles:

Transparent Mode

Soft Mode

The updated interface is designed to create a more modern, fluid, and immersive user experience while offering greater personalization options.

Enhanced Cross-Device Connectivity

Xiaomi is also expected to further expand its cross-device ecosystem with HyperOS 4.

The update reportedly improves connectivity and collaboration between Xiaomi smartphones, tablets, wearables, smart home products, and other ecosystem devices, making transitions between devices faster and more seamless.

These enhancements align with Xiaomi’s long-term strategy of building a fully connected intelligent ecosystem.

Rollout Schedule

According to the leaked roadmap, Xiaomi plans to prioritize its newest flagship devices during the initial rollout.

The first smartphones expected to receive the stable version include:

Xiaomi 17 series

REDMI K90 series

Other flagship models launched within the past year

Meanwhile, Xiaomi’s upcoming Xiaomi 18 series is expected to ship with HyperOS 4 pre-installed, allowing buyers to experience the redesigned operating system immediately out of the box.

Looking Ahead

If the leaked information proves accurate, HyperOS 4 will represent far more than a routine software update. By eliminating legacy MIUI code, rebuilding core components with modern programming technologies, and introducing a redesigned user interface alongside deeper ecosystem integration, Xiaomi appears to be laying the groundwork for the next generation of its software platform.

With an official announcement reportedly planned for early August, more details about HyperOS 4—including its complete feature set, supported devices, and rollout timeline—are expected to emerge in the coming weeks.

Combining 4K resolution, ALPD laser technology, HDR support, and a projection size of up to 150 inches, the Mijia 1S offers impressive performance while requiring only a few inches of space from the wall.

Ultra-Short Throw Design

One of the standout features of the Xiaomi Mijia 1S is its ultra-short-throw projection system. Unlike traditional projectors that need to be mounted several meters away from the screen, the Mijia 1S can project a massive 100-inch image from approximately 24 cm (9.4 inches) away from the wall. With a throw ratio of just 0.23:1, users can enjoy screen sizes ranging from 80 to 150 inches while keeping the projector neatly positioned on a TV cabinet.

True 4K Resolution with Laser Projection

The projector features a native 4K resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels, delivering exceptional detail and clarity for movies, sports, gaming, and streaming content. Powered by ALPD 3.0 laser display technology, the Mijia 1S produces bright and vivid images while maintaining excellent color accuracy and long-term reliability. Xiaomi rates the laser light source for up to 25,000 hours of operation, providing years of maintenance-free entertainment.

Brightness and Contrast Performance

With a brightness rating of 2,000 ANSI lumens, the Mijia 1S performs well in dimly lit and moderately bright rooms. The projector also features a 3,000:1 contrast ratio, helping deliver deeper blacks and improved shadow detail. While dedicated home theater environments will unlock its full potential, everyday viewing remains enjoyable even without complete light control.

Many users of Redmi Note 13 series notice battery drain issues where the system itself (MIUI/HyperOS system processes) consumes unusually high power. This can reduce screen-on time and make the phone feel less efficient even when apps are not heavily used.

In most cases, this is caused by background system activity, misconfigured settings, or software optimization issues rather than hardware defects.

Below is a complete guide to help you identify and fix the problem.

1. Check Battery Usage First

Before making changes, confirm what is draining your battery:

Go to:
Settings → Battery → Battery usage

Look for:

“System”

“Android OS”

“MIUI / HyperOS services”

If system usage is consistently high (above 25–40%), optimization is needed.

2. Restart the Phone (Quick Fix)

A simple restart can immediately reduce system drain caused by:

Stuck background processes

Temporary system bugs

Sync loops

Hold power button → Restart → check battery again after a few hours

3. Disable Unnecessary Background Autostart

Many system apps run in the background unnecessarily.

Steps:
Settings → Apps → Permissions → Autostart

Turn OFF for:

Unused Xiaomi apps

Third-party apps not needed for notifications

This reduces system wake-ups.

4. Limit Background Activity

Go to:
Settings → Battery → App battery saver

For high-drain apps:

Set to “Restrict background activity”

Or “Smart restrict”

This prevents system services from constantly waking apps.

5. Turn Off Always-On Network Scanning

System drain often comes from constant scanning.

Disable:

Wi-Fi scanning

Bluetooth scanning

Path:
Settings → Location → Location services → Disable scanning

6. Reduce Sync Frequency

Cloud and account sync can heavily affect system power usage.

Check:
Settings → Accounts & sync

You can:

Turn off auto-sync for unused accounts

Reduce sync frequency for Xiaomi Cloud, Gmail, etc.

7. Update System Software

Battery drain is often fixed in updates.

Go to:
Settings → About phone → System update

Install:

MIUI updates

HyperOS updates

Security patches

Many “system drain” bugs are patched in updates.

8. Clear Cache Partition (Advanced Fix)

System cache corruption can increase battery usage.

Steps:

Power off phone

Enter recovery mode

Select “Wipe cache”

9. Check for High Refresh Rate Impact

Redmi Note 13 supports high refresh rates, which increase system workload.

Try:

Switch from 120Hz → 60Hz
Path:
Settings → Display → Refresh rate

If battery improves significantly, system load is partly display-related.

10. Disable Unnecessary System Features

Turn off features you don’t use:

Always-on display

Nearby device scanning

NFC (if unused)

AI assistant features

Dynamic wallpapers

These contribute to background system activity.

11. Check for Rogue Apps Triggering System Drain

Sometimes system battery usage is actually caused by apps.

Look for:

Social media apps running constantly

VPN apps

Poorly optimized games

Uninstall or restrict suspicious apps.

12. Factory Reset (Last Resort)

If nothing works, a reset may be needed:

Settings → About phone → Factory reset

Use this only if:

System drain persists after updates

Phone behaves abnormally

Battery drops even in idle mode

Why “System” Uses So Much Battery on Redmi Note 13

Common causes include:

MIUI/HyperOS background optimization

Push notifications and sync loops

Software bugs after updates

Aggressive system logging or indexing

Final Summary

If your Redmi Note 13 system consumes power too quickly, the issue is usually software-related and fixable. Start with simple steps like restarting, restricting background apps, and updating the system. If needed, move to deeper fixes like cache wiping or factory reset.

In most cases, users see noticeable improvement after adjusting background activity and updating the system.

Igeekphone 3/26: According to Gizmochina on March 25, Xiaomi has officially stopped updating MIUI.
After the release of HyperOS, Xiaomi upgraded millions of devices to the new operating system, while many devices were added to the list of discontinued support.

However, in 2026, two overseas devices continued to receive MIUI updates – Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+. The operating system of these two devices was Android 13, and they continued to receive security patches and minor version updates. Their last update was the firmware version V14.0.44.0.TGOMIXM released in December 2025. The official website mentioned that support would be discontinued on March 24, 2026.

Now, both devices have officially stopped all types of software updates, marking the complete discontinuation of the traditional MIUI.

MIUI was actually the first product of Xiaomi. It was released earlier than any of Xiaomi’s hardware products. It was first launched in August 2010 and was based on the Android 2.2 Froyo system. The early versions of MIUI were distributed as custom ROMs for third-party Android phones.

On October 17, 2023, Xiaomi announced the new operating system, Xiaomi HyperOS, and gradually replaced MIUI.

Recently, a new Xiaomi product with the model number 2608BPX34C has appeared in the GSMA certification database, indicating that Xiaomi is preparing a new member for its high-end MIX foldable screen series.

Media speculation suggests that this device might be the highly anticipated Xiaomi MIX Trifold.

In response to this, a digital blogger claimed that the engineering model of Xiaomi’s three-fold phone in 2022 was the Z-fold, but it was cancelled due to the severe overheating of the Snapdragon 8 Gen1.

On September 3, 2024, the National Intellectual Property Administration disclosed the design patent of Xiaomi Corporation’s three-fold mobile phone, with the authorization announcement number being “CN308817132S”.

The application date of this patent is December 21, 2022. The designers are Jiang Xinyi and Wang Yi, and the patentee is Beijing Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., LTD. The patent presents two design sketches, with the overall design adopting a Z-shaped folding method.

This shows that as early as two years ago, Xiaomi had already been conducting relevant technical research and patent reserves for its foldable phones.

It is worth noting that as early as the beginning of 2019, Lin Bin, co-founder of Xiaomi, had already unveiled Xiaomi’s first dual-folding smartphone. At that time, a series of technical challenges were overcome, including flexible folding screen technology, four-wheel drive folding hinge technology, flexible cover plate technology, and MIUI adaptation.

In addition, the media reported that Xiaomi is expected to release two new foldable screen models: Xiaomi 17 Fold and Xiaomi MIX Flip 3 in the first quarter of 2026.

It is learned that the company will continue to implement a dual-track strategy of simultaneously releasing flip and split foldable screens. These new models are expected to make further improvements in optical performance, hinge engineering and system optimization, offering better structural durability and battery efficiency.

Igeekphone reported in July this year that Qualcomm released the Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip to mainly popularize 5G networks, hoping to pull the price of 5G mobile phones down to $99 (Igeekphone note: currently about 701 yuan).

The Snapdragon 4s Gen 2 chip supports Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 5 and is equipped with a Qualcomm Kryo CPU with two 2GHz performance cores and six 1.8Ghz efficiency cores.
