OnePlus 16 has officially launched in China, bringing a major focus on high-frame-rate mobile gaming. Announced on October 12, 2026, the new flagship is one of the first smartphones powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform. It combines the new processor with an upgraded gaming kernel and three dedicated gaming chips designed to improve network stability, touch response and display performance.

The biggest highlight is support for native gaming at up to 185 frames per second (FPS) in selected titles. OnePlus is also introducing enhanced frame-generation technology, aiming to deliver smoother visuals while maintaining responsive controls.

Rather than relying on chipset performance alone, the OnePlus 16 uses a combination of hardware, software and game-specific optimization to push mobile gaming forward.

OnePlus 16 Targets Native 185FPS Mobile Gaming

High frame rates can make fast-moving scenes appear smoother, particularly in competitive shooting games where quick reactions matter. However, a powerful processor alone cannot guarantee a consistent high-FPS experience. The display, graphics processing, game optimization and system resource management must work together.

To address these demands, OnePlus has equipped the OnePlus 16 with its next-generation Fengchi Gaming Kernel. According to the company, the software supports native 185FPS gameplay in compatible games and introduces a 185FPS frame-generation feature designed to increase visual smoothness without adding extra latency through its implementation.

The phone also supports native 165FPS gameplay in Honor of Kings with the game’s highest graphics-quality mode, according to OnePlus.

For shooting-game fans, the company lists native 185FPS support for several popular titles, including Peacekeeper Elite, Delta Force, Arena Breakout, CrossFire: Legends, Nizhan: Future and Lost Light. More games are expected to join the supported lineup through future compatibility updates.

It is important to distinguish native frame rates from generated frames. Native FPS refers to frames rendered by the game itself, while frame-generation technology creates additional frames to improve perceived smoothness. The two approaches can produce different results in responsiveness and image consistency.

Actual frame rates will also depend on the game, graphics settings, operating temperature and software version. The advertised 185FPS capability therefore applies to supported gaming scenarios rather than every mobile game.

Three Dedicated Gaming Chips Handle Network, Touch and Display

OnePlus has developed a three-chip gaming system to complement the Snapdragon processor. The setup includes the G3 gaming network chip, T3 Lingxi touch chip and P4 super display chip. Each component targets a different part of the gaming experience.

G3 Gaming Network Chip Focuses on Lower Latency

Network delays can affect competitive games even when a phone produces high frame rates. The G3 gaming network chip is designed to improve connectivity during latency-sensitive gameplay.

OnePlus reports that the chip reduces average cellular gaming latency by 13.39%. The company also claims an 18.5% improvement in Wi-Fi transmission stability and an 11.5% improvement in Wi-Fi network-grabbing capability.

These figures are based on manufacturer-reported results. Real-world performance will vary with signal strength, router conditions, network congestion and the server hosting a game.

T3 Lingxi Touch Chip Improves Control Response

The T3 Lingxi touch chip is designed to optimize touch input and control precision. OnePlus says it has worked with game developers, including teams behind shooting games, to fine-tune touch handling and introduce more customizable control settings.

For games that depend on rapid aiming, movement and repeated on-screen actions, touch responsiveness can be an important part of the overall experience. The effectiveness of these improvements will depend on individual games and how players configure their controls.

P4 Super Display Chip Supports High-Refresh-Rate Gaming

The P4 super display chip focuses on display processing for high-refresh-rate scenarios. According to OnePlus, it features a 20% increase in transistor count and a 25% improvement in data-handling performance compared with its predecessor.

These hardware changes are intended to help the display system manage demanding visual workloads. However, transistor count and data-handling figures alone do not establish the phone’s sustained gaming performance or power efficiency.

Together, the three chips show how OnePlus is approaching mobile gaming as a complete system. Network reliability, touch response and display processing can all influence gameplay, alongside the raw power of the main processor.

Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Powers the New Flagship

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 provides the processing foundation for the OnePlus 16. Qualcomm announced the new flagship mobile platform at Snapdragon Summit on September 22, 2026.

The chipset uses a 2nm manufacturing process and Qualcomm’s custom Oryon CPU architecture. Its prime CPU cores can reach clock speeds of up to 5GHz, while its performance cores can reach up to 4GHz, according to the supplied launch specifications.

Qualcomm has also introduced FlexCache, an expandable cache technology designed to allocate cache resources dynamically according to workload demands. This approach is intended to help the system respond to different processing requirements, including gaming and other intensive applications.

For the OnePlus 16, the platform provides the hardware foundation needed to process demanding game logic and graphics workloads. The phone’s actual sustained performance will still depend on cooling, power management and software optimization.

The new chipset is also part of a broader flagship rollout. Qualcomm has named Xiaomi, vivo, RedMagic, REDMI, OPPO, OnePlus, Motorola, iQOO and HONOR among the brands adopting its sixth-generation flagship platforms.

As more devices enter the market, buyers will have additional options for comparing processor performance, gaming features and overall flagship value.

For background on how an earlier Snapdragon flagship platform performed in demanding mobile games, see our Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 gaming performance review.

OnePlus 16 Selected as an Official Peacekeeper Elite Competition Phone

OnePlus says the OnePlus 16 has become an official competition phone for the new season of the Peacekeeper Elite Professional League.

The partnership complements the phone’s focus on high-frame-rate gameplay, network optimization and touch response. In competitive gaming, these areas can influence how consistently a device handles fast movement, aiming and real-time interactions.

An official tournament role provides context for the phone’s gaming ambitions, but it does not automatically establish that every player will perform better. Results depend on individual skill, game settings, network conditions and the competition’s equipment requirements.

What the OnePlus 16’s Gaming Features Mean for Buyers

The OnePlus 16’s key selling point is the way its hardware and software work together. Native 185FPS support in selected games, an updated gaming kernel and three dedicated gaming chips give the phone a clear focus on competitive mobile gaming.

For players, the most important questions are whether their favorite games support the advertised frame rates, how consistently those frame rates can be maintained during long sessions and whether the phone balances performance with heat and battery consumption.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 provides a high-performance foundation, but clock speeds and manufacturing-process specifications cannot fully predict real-world results. Independent testing would be needed to assess sustained frame rates, thermal behavior and power consumption under comparable conditions.

Game compatibility also deserves attention. Not every title supports the same frame-rate limits, and some features may require software updates or may be available only in particular regional versions.

Buyers considering the OnePlus 16 should therefore look beyond the 185FPS headline and check the games they play most often, the supported settings and the availability of the phone in their market.

Readers comparing OnePlus’ flagship gaming evolution can also explore our OnePlus 13 review, covering performance, display and gaming.

Final Verdict

The OnePlus 16 arrives as a gaming-focused flagship built around Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform. Its native 185FPS support in selected games, Fengchi Gaming Kernel and G3, T3 and P4 gaming chips are designed to address performance, connectivity, touch controls and display processing together.

The launch also expands Qualcomm’s sixth-generation flagship ecosystem, which should give consumers more high-performance smartphone options as additional models arrive.

The next step is real-world validation. Consistent frame rates, responsive controls and effective heat management will determine how much of the OnePlus 16’s advertised gaming potential translates into everyday use.

OnePlus is preparing another major display upgrade for its next flagship smartphone. The company has confirmed that it is working with BOE on the fourth-generation Oriental Screen, which will make its global debut on the upcoming OnePlus 16.

According to OnePlus China President Li Jie, OnePlus and BOE will hold a technology communication event on October 9 at 10:00 a.m. to introduce the new display technology. The companies are expected to explain how the fourth-generation Oriental Screen improves everyday viewing, scrolling, and motion clarity.

Rather than focusing only on higher specifications, OnePlus says the new panel is designed to improve the parts of the display experience users notice every day.

OnePlus 16 Will Be the First Phone With the Fourth-Generation Oriental Screen

The OnePlus 16 will be the first smartphone to use BOE’s fourth-generation Oriental Screen.

Li Jie said the new display is designed to make content look clearer, scrolling feel smoother, and moving images appear more defined. OnePlus also plans to explain the underlying display technologies in simpler terms during the upcoming presentation.

This approach is important because smartphone displays are no longer judged by resolution alone. Refresh rate, motion handling, touch response, brightness, power efficiency, and image clarity can all affect how a phone feels during everyday use.

The fourth-generation panel therefore appears to continue OnePlus and BOE’s strategy of improving the overall display experience rather than simply increasing a single specification.

From 165Hz to 185Hz: OnePlus Pushes Refresh Rate Higher

The most notable change is the reported 185Hz refresh rate.

Last year’s OnePlus 15 introduced the third-generation Oriental Screen, which combined a 1.5K resolution with a 165Hz refresh rate. At the time, this was positioned as a solution to the long-standing challenge of combining high resolution with very high refresh rates on smartphone OLED panels.

The fourth-generation screen takes the refresh-rate figure even further.

The OnePlus 16 is expected to support a maximum refresh rate of 185Hz while also offering a global 165Hz refresh rate mode. That means the higher-refresh-rate experience is not limited only to selected applications or specific scenarios.

For everyday activities such as scrolling through social media, browsing websites, and reading articles, a 165Hz global mode could make animations and page movement appear more continuous than on conventional 120Hz displays.

Why a High Refresh Rate Matters Beyond Gaming

A higher refresh rate is often associated with gaming, but its benefits are not limited to games.

When scrolling through a long webpage or moving between menus, the display can update the image more frequently. This can make motion appear smoother and reduce the perception of stuttering during fast movement.

The difference may be particularly noticeable to users who are already accustomed to high-refresh-rate phones.

However, refresh rate alone does not guarantee a better display. The quality of the OLED panel, response time, display driver, software optimization, and power management all influence the final experience.

That makes OnePlus’ upcoming display announcement particularly interesting. The company is emphasizing not just the 185Hz number but also improvements to transparency, smoothness, and motion clarity.

OnePlus and BOE Previously Used 165Hz as a Key Breakthrough

The fourth-generation Oriental Screen builds on technology introduced with the previous generation.

The third-generation Oriental Screen, launched with the OnePlus 15, combined a 1.5K-class resolution with a 165Hz refresh rate. OnePlus and BOE reportedly achieved this through changes to the display circuitry, driving technology, and display algorithms, along with new X3 luminous materials.

Before this development, ultra-high-refresh-rate smartphone displays were more commonly associated with lower resolutions such as 1080p.

By combining higher resolution with a 165Hz refresh rate, the third-generation panel attempted to address the trade-off between image sharpness and refresh speed.

OnePlus now appears ready to take that approach another step forward with the fourth-generation panel.

OnePlus 16 Could Offer 185FPS Gaming

The new display technology could also have a direct impact on mobile gaming.

According to OnePlus, the OnePlus 16 already supports native 185FPS+ gaming at high image quality in Delta Force. The company says its updated Fengchi gaming engine is designed to help the phone maintain a high frame rate during extended gaming sessions.

This is particularly relevant for competitive shooters, where rapid camera movement and quick target tracking can benefit from a more responsive gaming phone display.

If the hardware and software can consistently deliver frame rates close to the panel’s 185Hz capability, the higher refresh rate could provide smoother motion in fast-paced games.

This is particularly relevant for competitive shooters, where rapid camera movement and quick target tracking can benefit from a more responsive display.

At the same time, sustained high-frame-rate gaming places significant demands on the processor, graphics hardware, cooling system, battery, and display. The real-world performance of the OnePlus 16 will therefore depend on how effectively these components work together.

The Fourth-Generation Oriental Screen Has a Bigger Goal

The OnePlus 16’s display upgrade is not simply about moving from 165Hz to 185Hz.

OnePlus is positioning the fourth-generation Oriental Screen around three everyday improvements: clearer viewing, smoother interaction, and sharper motion.

That distinction matters because extremely high refresh rates can become difficult to appreciate if other parts of the display experience remain unchanged. A well-balanced panel needs to combine refresh rate with response speed, image quality, touch performance, and efficient power consumption.

The upcoming technology communication event should provide more information about how OnePlus and BOE achieved these improvements.

What to Expect From the OnePlus 16 Display

Based on the information released so far, the OnePlus 16’s display is expected to focus on several key areas:

These specifications make the OnePlus 16 one of the more interesting upcoming smartphones for users who prioritize display performance.

The fourth-generation panel therefore appears to continue OnePlus and BOE’s strategy of improving the overall display experience on OnePlus flagship phones rather than simply increasing a single specification.

OnePlus 16 Could Raise the Bar for High-Refresh-Rate Phones

The smartphone display market has gradually moved from 60Hz to 90Hz and 120Hz panels, while premium gaming-focused phones have pushed refresh rates even higher.

The OnePlus 16’s reported 185Hz panel suggests that the next stage of competition may focus on making ultra-high refresh rates useful outside of gaming as well.

When scrolling through a long webpage or moving between menus, the display can update the image more frequently, which is why high-refresh-rate smartphone displays have become increasingly common on premium phones.

If OnePlus can combine 185Hz gaming with a consistent 165Hz experience across everyday applications, the fourth-generation Oriental Screen could become one of the phone’s most important features.

More technical details should emerge when OnePlus and BOE officially introduce the fourth-generation Oriental Screen on October 9. Until then, the claimed specifications should be treated as announced information rather than a complete assessment of the panel’s real-world performance.

For users interested in high-refresh-rate smartphones, however, the OnePlus 16 is already shaping up to be a notable device to watch.

OnePlus 16 is moving closer to its official debut in China, with the upcoming flagship now appearing in the country’s 3C certification system. The certified device carries model number PYB110, and the listing indicates support for up to 100W wired charging.

This latest certification follows earlier regulatory approvals, giving the OnePlus 16 a clearer path toward its official launch. Previous reports linked the same device to China’s wireless communication approval and network-access certification, including support for the N79 5G band. With the latest 3C approval, the OnePlus 16 has now completed the major certification steps reported for its Chinese launch.

9,000mAh Battery and 50W Wireless Charging

Battery capacity is one of the most notable specifications currently associated with the OnePlus 16. According to information shared by Digital Chat Station and reported by multiple Chinese technology outlets, the phone is expected to use a 9,000mAh dual-cell battery.

The reported figures list a typical capacity of 9,000mAh and a rated capacity of 8,780mAh. The same source also claims that the phone will support 50W wireless charging, giving the device both high-capacity battery hardware and fast wired and wireless charging options.

Triple Camera Setup Reportedly Planned

The OnePlus 16 is also expected to receive a three-camera rear system. Current leak-based specifications point to a 200MP primary camera using a 1/1.4-inch sensor, accompanied by a 50MP ultra-wide camera.

A 50MP periscope telephoto camera with a reported 1/1.95-inch sensor is also part of the rumored configuration. These camera details remain based on leaked information rather than a complete official specification sheet, so the final hardware should be confirmed at launch.

Next-Generation Snapdragon Chipset

Performance is another major part of the OnePlus 16’s rumored hardware package. Reports identify the phone as using Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen6 platform, with leaked details pointing to a TSMC 2nm manufacturing process.

The rumored processor configuration includes an eight-core 2+3+3 CPU design, while graphics processing is said to be handled by an Adreno 850 GPU. Since Qualcomm and OnePlus have not yet provided a complete official specification list for the phone, these processor details should currently be treated as reported specifications.

165Hz Display and ColorOS 17

The OnePlus 16 will support a system-wide 165Hz refresh rate and will be among the first devices to ship with ColorOS 17 based on Android 17, bringing the latest software platform to OnePlus’ upcoming flagship.

According to current reports, the high-refresh-rate system is designed to work beyond selected gaming scenarios, while gaming may push the refresh rate as high as 185Hz. This makes the display experience one of the key areas OnePlus is highlighting ahead of the phone’s release.

OnePlus 16: What We Know So Far

The latest certification gives the OnePlus 16 a clearer regulatory footprint, while several of its major specifications are still coming from leaks and industry reports. Confirmed information currently includes the PYB110 model number, 100W wired charging certification, 165Hz system-wide refresh rate, and ColorOS 17.

Other reported specifications include the 9,000mAh battery, 50W wireless charging, 200MP main camera, periscope telephoto lens, and next-generation Snapdragon processor. OnePlus has not yet announced the phone’s complete specifications, pricing, or official launch date, so those details should be treated as preliminary until the company makes them official.

Apple has officially introduced the AirPods 5, bringing a notable upgrade to its entry-level wireless earbud lineup without increasing the starting price.

The biggest change is that Apple is no longer offering a separate non-noise-cancelling version. Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is now standard on AirPods 5, making this the first generation in the series to include ANC across the lineup.

Prices start at $129, while the version with a wireless charging case costs $149. That means Apple has added a major feature without raising the entry-level price.

AirPods 5 Keep the Familiar Half-In-Ear Design

At first glance, AirPods 5 look largely unchanged from the previous generation. Apple continues to use a semi-in-ear design, rather than switching to silicone ear tips.

This design choice creates an interesting balance. Traditional in-ear earbuds can generally provide stronger passive isolation because their ear tips form a tighter seal, while semi-in-ear earbuds can feel more comfortable during extended listening.

For users who dislike the pressure associated with sealed in-ear headphones, AirPods 5 may therefore offer a more comfortable approach to noise cancellation.

ANC Becomes a Standard Feature

The headline upgrade is active noise cancellation.

Apple says AirPods 5 deliver up to a 50% improvement in noise reduction compared with AirPods 4. Instead of requiring buyers to choose a more expensive noise-cancelling configuration, Apple has made ANC part of the standard AirPods 5 package.

The earbuds also support Adaptive Audio, which can automatically balance Active Noise Cancellation and Transparency Mode according to the surrounding environment.

This makes the AirPods 5 more practical for users who move between quiet indoor spaces, busy streets, public transportation and other changing environments.

Up to 5 Hours of Listening on a Single Charge

With Active Noise Cancellation enabled, AirPods 5 can provide up to five hours of listening time on a single charge.

The charging case extends total listening time to up to 20 hours, giving users several additional charging cycles throughout the day.

While the five-hour figure is not class-leading compared with some larger wireless earbuds, it is reasonable for compact semi-in-ear headphones. The case is also important for users who typically listen in shorter sessions and recharge the earbuds between uses.

IP57 Protection Adds More Durability

AirPods 5 also receive an IP57 rating, giving the earbuds greater protection against dust and water exposure than many basic wireless earbuds.

That additional durability could be useful for everyday activities such as commuting, walking or exercising. However, an IP rating should not be interpreted as making the earbuds suitable for every type of water exposure.

Apple Intelligence Features Expand Their Role

The new AirPods 5 also support several Apple Intelligence-related features, including real-time translation and access to broader knowledge-based functions.

This reflects Apple’s wider strategy of turning its earbuds into more than simple audio accessories. With tighter integration between hardware, software and Apple’s AI features, AirPods can increasingly serve as a hands-free interface for information and communication.

The usefulness of these features will naturally depend on device compatibility, supported languages and Apple’s software ecosystem.

AirPods 5 Price and Availability

Apple is keeping the entry price at $129, despite adding Active Noise Cancellation as a standard feature.

The pricing is:

AirPods 5: $129

AirPods 5 with wireless charging case: $149

The decision to maintain the previous starting price makes ANC the most significant value improvement in this generation.

What Makes AirPods 5 Different?

The AirPods 5 are not a dramatic redesign, but Apple has focused the upgrade on features that can have a noticeable effect on everyday use.

The combination of standard ANC, Adaptive Audio, a comfortable semi-in-ear design, IP57 protection and Apple Intelligence features gives the new earbuds a broader feature set without moving the starting price above $129.

For users who prioritize comfort and want noise cancellation without the tighter fit of traditional in-ear earbuds, AirPods 5 could be one of the more interesting additions to Apple’s audio lineup.

Nubia is continuing to build anticipation for its upcoming NaviX Ultra smartphone, with the company revealing more details about the device ahead of its official launch.

According to Nubia’s latest teaser, the NaviX Ultra will feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and an OLED display supplied by BOE. The company has also confirmed that the new smartphone is scheduled to launch sometime this month.

One of the phone’s major highlights will be its AI smartphone capabilities. The NaviX Ultra is expected to come with the Doubao smartphone assistant, while reports from LatePost indicate that Nubia has adjusted how it plans to work with major third-party apps such as those from Alibaba and Tencent.

Rather than relying on a system that reads the screen after obtaining user permission and then simulates taps and other human-like interactions through GUI technology, the new approach is reportedly designed to change how the AI assistant interacts with these popular applications.

Flagship Snapdragon Chip Could Power the NaviX Ultra

Although Nubia has not yet officially confirmed the exact Snapdragon model, previous reports suggest that the NaviX Ultra could be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, Qualcomm’s next-generation flagship mobile platform.

The phone is also rumored to pack a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, which would give it a substantial capacity for users who prioritize long daily endurance. Charging support is expected to include 90W or 100W wired fast charging, along with wireless charging.

If these specifications are confirmed, battery life and charging speed could become two of the phone’s major selling points.

Triple-Camera Setup and High-Resolution Front Camera

Photography is expected to be another important part of the NaviX Ultra.

The smartphone is rumored to feature a 50MP primary camera, paired with an ultrawide camera and a periscope telephoto lens. This combination would give the device greater flexibility for everyday photography as well as longer-distance shots.

On the front, the NaviX Ultra could use a 50MP high-resolution selfie camera, potentially making it attractive to users who place a strong emphasis on selfies, video calls and front-facing imaging.

What the NaviX Ultra’s AI Agent Could Actually Change

The most interesting part of the NaviX Ultra is not simply that it comes with an AI assistant. Its bigger ambition is to make the AI agent part of the way the phone operates. Instead of asking an assistant a question and then manually opening another app to complete the task, users can give the phone a broader instruction and let the agent determine the steps required to reach the desired result.

This could make everyday tasks feel very different. For example, a user might ask the NaviX Ultra to compare prices, organize information, plan a trip, or complete a sequence of actions across supported applications. The key difference is the move from AI that provides an answer to AI that attempts to complete a task.

That distinction is important. Traditional smartphone AI is generally strongest when it handles individual functions such as summarizing text, generating content, translating languages, editing photos, or answering questions. An agentic phone takes a more task-oriented approach: it needs to understand the user’s intention, determine what actions are required, and coordinate those actions across different parts of the phone.

The NaviX Ultra also highlights an important change in how AI assistants may interact with third-party apps. Rather than simply relying on an AI model to understand a conversation, the phone needs appropriate connections to the services it wants to control. Reports indicate that the NaviX Ultra is pursuing cooperation with major app providers and compatible interfaces, meaning the practical range of its cross-app capabilities may depend on which services support the required integration.

This is potentially more significant than another chatbot feature because it changes the user’s role. Instead of learning which app to open and which menu to select, the user can focus on describing the intended outcome. In theory, the phone handles more of the intermediate steps.

However, this approach also needs to prove itself in real-world use. AI agents can encounter problems when an app changes its interface, a requested action requires confirmation, or a service does not provide the necessary access. For that reason, the NaviX Ultra’s real value will depend not only on its AI model but also on the number of supported services, the reliability of task execution, and how well the system handles failed or incomplete actions.

If Nubia and its partners can make these interactions reliable, the NaviX Ultra could represent a meaningful shift from a smartphone with AI features to a smartphone where AI becomes a more active layer of everyday interaction.

Distinctive Colors and a Dedicated AI Button

Nubia is also expected to give the NaviX Ultra a recognizable exterior design.

The phone is reportedly set to arrive in Blue Realm, Dream, Black and White color options. One particularly noticeable detail is an orange-colored AI button, which appears to be designed to provide quick access to the phone’s artificial intelligence features.

At the rear, the smartphone is expected to adopt a horizontal camera module, giving the NaviX Ultra a distinctive visual identity compared with many current flagship phones.

Launch Expected in September

The Nubia NaviX Ultra is currently scheduled to debut this month, although the company has yet to reveal all of its specifications and pricing details.

For now, the combination of a next-generation Snapdragon platform, BOE OLED display, large silicon-carbon battery, high-resolution cameras and dedicated AI controls makes the NaviX Ultra an interesting upcoming flagship.

More information should become available as Nubia continues its official countdown toward the launch.

QCY has built a reputation for offering capable audio products at prices that don’t feel excessive, which is exactly what made me curious about the QCY H3S. While they may look fairly conventional at first, the experience is a little more interesting once you spend some time with them. From the feature set to the everyday performance, the H3S offers quite a bit for its price, making it worth a closer look if you’re shopping for an affordable QCY wireless headphone.

Is the QCY H3S actually a good budget headphone for long battery life?

Basically, it has dual drivers, which you usually don’t see unless you’re paying a lot more, and the battery life is honestly kind of wild, they’re claiming over 100 hours of playback, and while I didn’t sit there timing every minute obviously, it definitely lasts forever. It also has adaptive noise canceling, and it works better than I expected, especially in places with constant background noise like fans or traffic. The fit’s pretty comfortable too, because some headphones start annoying me after like an hour. They didn’t. It also supports LDAC audio and some higher-quality audio codecs, so if you actually care about better sound quality and have a device that supports it, that’s nice to have.

Design

So, after using these for a while, I noticed the weight is actually pretty balanced, like around 240 grams or something, and they don’t really start hurting your head even after a few hours, which surprised me because I wear glasses and most headphones end up squeezing the sides of my head after like 30 minutes. They didn’t.

The headband kinda shapes itself to your head over time and the cushions are soft enough that you almost forget they’re there, plus the earcups go fully over your ears instead of sitting on them, which iis way better for long music sessions or gaming late at night.

Anyway, all the buttons are shoved onto the right side. Which is fine. You’ve got the USB-C charging port there too, and the main button does basically everything, turning them on, pairing Bluetooth, pausing music, taking calls, all that stuff, and then there are separate buttons for volume and ANC which I honestly prefer because digging through touch controls drives me crazy sometimes. The H3S’s adaptive noise cancellation is more useful to evaluate by listening environment than by looking at a single specification.

The earcups also rotate and fold like 90 degrees so tossing them into a backpack is easier, and the IPX5 rating means a little rain or gym sweat isn’t a big deal, which is a plus. Oh and the box comes with a USB-C cable and the manual too, although let’s be real most people probably won’t read it.

Easy to Use

So, the QCY H3S basically keeps all the controls on the right side, which honestly made it easier for me because I didn’t have to keep feeling around both earcups trying to remember where stuff was, and after like two days I could use everything without even looking. There’s one button for ANC that switches between the different modes, and the power button sits in the middle. Hold it down to turn the headphones on or off. Quick press pauses the music too, which is nice.

Anyway, right next to that there’s the volume buttons. Pretty standard stuff. The USB-C charging port is also on the same side, which is a plus in my book because some headphones put things in weird spots for no reason and it gets annoying fast. I noticed the button layout feels simple overall. Not fancy.

Sound Quality

So yeah, all the sound stuff is basically tucked into the Sound tab. You’ve got the usual Music, Game, and Cinema modes first, and then there’s a bunch of EQ presets like Bass, Rock, Classical, Spatial, all that stuff. I noticed they actually let you make your own presets too, which is nice because honestly half the time the default ones sound weird depending on what you’re listening to. The ANC settings are in there as well, and you can switch between Transparency, full Noise Cancellation, or just turn it off completely. And when ANC is on, there are extra options like Wind Noise Reduction, Indoor, Commute, Loud, and Adaptive mode, which kinda feels like overkill at first but after messing around with it for a bit it actually makes sense, especially if you’re moving between places a lot during the day. You can pick the modes yourself or just let the headphones figure it out automatically. Which is a plus.

Anyway, when it comes to the actual sound of the QCY H3S, that part’s always tricky. Sound is super subjective. Like, what sounds amazing to me might sound way too bass-heavy to somebody else, or too flat, or whatever. In my case the headphones sound pretty decent overall, but it really depends on the kind of music you listen to and even where you’re using them. Some people want super clear vocals. Others just want the bass to hit harder. That’s just how it is.

Noise and Connectivit

So, the ANC (active noise cancellation headphones) stuff on the QCY H3S is actually pretty good. You get a bunch of different modes to mess around with, like one just for wind noise, plus some presets depending on where you are, and you can tweak how strong the filtering feels too, which is kind of nice because most cheap headphones just give you one button and that’s it. There’s also this adaptive mode where the headphones figure things out on their own, and it worked better than I expected, especially when moving between quieter rooms and outside noise. No weird ear pressure either. Which is a plus. But yeah, it still works best when music is playing, so don’t expect it to magically block everything while sitting silent.

Anyway, signal stability was solid too. No random cutouts. No annoying disconnects. I walked a few meters away from my phone a couple times, through walls even, and it kept playing fine, which in my book already puts it ahead of some other budget headphones I’ve tried because those usually start freaking out the second you leave the room, and then you end up reconnecting Bluetooth over and over again for no reason. Battery life was pretty much what the company claimed too. So yeah. No complaints there.

102 Hours vs 58 Hours: The Battery Number You Should Actually Care About

The headline battery figure for the QCY H3S is 102 hours, but that number needs context. QCY specifies up to 102 hours with ANC turned off and up to 58 hours with ANC enabled.

For most buyers, the 58-hour figure is arguably more useful because ANC is one of the main reasons to buy the H3S in the first place. Turning ANC on reduces the claimed runtime by roughly 44 hours, showing how much the noise-cancellation system changes power consumption.

Even 58 hours is substantial for an over-ear headphone. It means the H3S can realistically be treated as a travel-oriented device without requiring frequent charging.

However, neither number should be treated as a universal real-world result. Playback volume, Bluetooth codec, spatial audio, ANC behavior and other settings can affect battery consumption.

The important takeaway is therefore not simply “102 hours.” It is that the H3S provides unusually large battery headroom for a headphone in this price class, while still offering a respectable claimed runtime when ANC is active.

What Makes the QCY H3S Different?

The QCY H3S is interesting less because it has a long specification list and more because several features normally associated with higher-priced wireless headphones appear together here. Its combination of dual drivers, adaptive ANC, LDAC support, 360° spatial audio, and a claimed battery life of more than 100 hours gives it a clear value proposition.

The important distinction is that the 100+ hour figure is a manufacturer claim, so it should not be presented as guaranteed real-world playback. Battery life can vary depending on ANC, codec, volume, spatial audio, and other settings.

QCY H3S vs Budget Wireless Headphones

Don’t make a giant generic comparison table unless you have verified specifications.

Instead, explain:

Choose QCY H3S if:

you don’t like the weight or size of over-ear headphones

Which H3S Features Actually Matter?

Not every specification on the QCY H3S has the same practical value.

LDAC matters most to Android users with compatible devices who want higher-bitrate Bluetooth audio. It won’t automatically make every recording sound better, but it gives the H3S more flexibility than basic Bluetooth headphones.

Adaptive ANC is arguably more useful for everyday buyers. The H3S can adjust noise cancellation depending on the environment, while additional modes allow users to choose different listening conditions through the QCY app.

The dual-driver design is more unusual. QCY uses a 40mm mid-bass driver together with a 13mm tweeter, allowing the headphone to separate lower and higher frequencies physically rather than relying on one driver to reproduce everything.

360° spatial audio is more situational. It can make movies and compatible content feel more immersive, but it isn’t a feature everyone will want enabled for normal music listening.

That leaves battery life as the H3S’s simplest advantage. You don’t need to be an audiophile to appreciate charging less frequently.

Verdict

Final Verdict

The QCY H3S isn’t impressive because it has one headline specification. Its appeal comes from the combination of features: dual drivers, LDAC, adaptive ANC, spatial audio and a large battery in a 240g foldable design.

The most important battery figure is not the advertised 102 hours, but the 58-hour claim with ANC enabled. That makes the H3S much more practical for commuters and travelers who want noise cancellation without constantly thinking about charging. Compare it with QCY MeloBuds N70 Review here.

At around $50, the H3S also avoids the biggest compromise of many budget headphones: it doesn’t force buyers to choose between long battery life and modern features.

Its limitations remain predictable. ANC cannot be expected to match premium flagship headphones, sound quality is highly dependent on personal preference and EQ, and the over-ear design is less portable than earbuds.

For buyers who prioritize battery life, adjustable ANC and feature density over brand prestige, the QCY H3S is one of the more interesting budget headphones to consider.

Can Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Elite finally make a Windows tablet fast enough to compete with traditional x86 laptops without giving up battery life?

We’ve recently had the opportunity to test the new Surface Pro (13-inch), Microsoft’s latest premium 2-in-1 powered by Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon platform. Like last year’s Surface Laptop (13-inch), this year’s Surface Pro continues Microsoft’s transition toward ARM-based Windows PCs. Microsoft also retains its somewhat unusual naming convention, officially branding the device as “Surface Pro, 13-inch” with a comma separating the product name and screen size—a naming style that’s become uniquely Microsoft.

While the processor architecture has evolved, the Surface Pro continues to showcase everything that has made Microsoft’s flagship Windows devices stand out over the years: premium craftsmanship, elegant industrial design, and exceptional versatility.

Its 13-inch 3:2 touchscreen is ideal for productivity, reading, note-taking, and creative work. Paired with the Surface Slim Pen 2, it offers an experience traditional laptops simply can’t match. Attach the optional magnetic keyboard cover, and the tablet instantly transforms into a full-featured laptop without compromising the familiar Windows workflow.

Microsoft also continues to emphasize sustainability. The new Surface Pro features:

100% recycled aluminum alloy enclosure

100% recycled rare-earth metals in its magnets

100% recycled cobalt in the battery

While these environmentally friendly materials may not be a deciding factor for every buyer, they reflect Microsoft’s ongoing commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its hardware without sacrificing durability or build quality.

Because the Surface Pro is fundamentally a tablet, its hardware layout naturally differs from a conventional laptop.

The device features physical power and volume buttons on the side, much like a smartphone, making them easy to reach whether you’re holding the tablet in portrait or landscape orientation. Although this arrangement may seem unusual to laptop users, it quickly becomes intuitive in everyday use.

Connectivity is minimalist but modern.

In addition to Microsoft’s proprietary Surface Connect magnetic charging port, the tablet includes two identical USB4 Type-C ports. While two ports may sound limited compared to many laptops, both are fully featured and support:

Built on Qualcomm’s third-generation Oryon CPU architecture, the chip delivers substantial improvements in both performance and energy efficiency over its predecessor.
One interesting aspect of Microsoft’s AI ecosystem is that Windows 11 AI+ currently relies almost entirely on the CPU and NPU for on-device AI acceleration. As a result, ARM-powered laptops like the new Surface Pro actually offer one of the best native experiences for Microsoft’s latest AI capabilities.

For an ultra-portable ARM tablet without a dedicated GPU, these are impressive numbers. The graphics performance is now comparable to current-generation integrated graphics found in mainstream Intel Core Ultra and AMD Ryzen mobile processors, making casual gaming and GPU-accelerated creative workloads far more practical than before.

While this Surface Pro isn’t intended to replace a gaming laptop, it comfortably handles lightweight games, indie titles, emulators, cloud gaming, and even many older PC games with ease.

5. Memory, Storage & Surface Slim Pen 2

Our review unit comes equipped with 24GB of LPDDR5 memory running at 9,523MT/s, providing ample bandwidth for multitasking, creative applications, and AI workloads.

Although memory benchmarking tools such as AIDA64 still operate under translation mode on Windows ARM, the results indicate that memory performance is fully in line with expectations for a premium ultraportable device.

Storage performance is equally solid.

Microsoft includes a 512GB PCIe 4.0 SSD, and benchmark testing with both native ARM and translated x64 versions of CrystalDiskMark showed virtually identical results, suggesting that Microsoft’s storage subsystem suffers almost no measurable performance penalty under emulation.

Overall SSD performance reaches the level expected from a modern PCIe 4.0 drive, providing fast boot times, responsive application loading, and excellent file transfer speeds.

During ATTO Disk Benchmark testing, write performance dipped only during the largest sustained transfers, likely because the SSD exhausted its high-speed cache. This behavior is typical of many consumer PCIe 4.0 SSDs and should have little impact on everyday use.

The included Surface Slim Pen 2 remains one of the best styluses available for Windows devices.

Although its flattened body initially appears smaller than a conventional pen, it measures approximately 135mm in length, making it just as comfortable to hold during long writing or drawing sessions. In practice, it feels much more natural than its appearance might suggest.

Because it’s a first-party Microsoft accessory, Windows 11 offers seamless native support without requiring any additional software installation.

Nearly every pen function can be customized directly through the Windows Settings app, resulting in an exceptionally polished user experience.

During handwriting tests in Microsoft Paint, pen latency was virtually imperceptible. Ink appeared instantly beneath the pen tip, making note-taking and sketching feel fluid and responsive.

The pen’s rear button functions as an eraser by default—simply flip the pen over to erase handwritten content, closely mimicking the experience of using a traditional pencil.

6. Battery Life & Thermal Performance: ARM Efficiency Sets a New Standard

One of the biggest advantages of Qualcomm’s ARM platform is its exceptional power efficiency, and the new Surface Pro (13-inch) fully demonstrates just how far Windows on ARM has come.

Although we were unable to disassemble the device due to Microsoft’s tightly integrated construction, hardware monitoring software confirmed that the tablet houses a 54.5Wh battery, which is quite generous for such a slim and lightweight 2-in-1.

Outstanding Battery Life

To evaluate real-world endurance, we used PCMark 10’s Applications Battery Test, which simulates everyday productivity tasks using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

It’s worth noting that only certain PCMark 10 workloads currently support ARM devices under Microsoft’s Prism translation layer, so these results shouldn’t be directly compared with previous laptop reviews that used different battery benchmarks.

Even so, the results were nothing short of remarkable.

Starting from a full charge, the Surface Pro continued running until the battery reached 4%, delivering an impressive:

20 hours and 17 minutes of continuous runtime

For a full Windows PC, this level of endurance is outstanding. It easily covers an entire workday—and even two days of moderate office use—without requiring a charger. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X2 Elite clearly sets a new benchmark for energy efficiency in Windows laptops and tablets.

Thermal Performance

We also conducted a sustained stress test using AIDA64.

Due to current limitations in ARM monitoring software, some utilities were unable to accurately report CPU frequency and temperature during the test. Native ARM versions of HWiNFO and CPU-Z provided only partial monitoring information, so the following figures should be viewed as approximate rather than absolute.

At the beginning of the stress test, the Snapdragon X2 Elite’s SoC briefly reached a power draw of approximately 46.7W before gradually stabilizing at around 16.8W under sustained load.

This behavior suggests that Microsoft allows the processor to boost aggressively for short bursts of demanding work before settling into a highly efficient operating range. Naturally, the tablet’s fanless-like thin chassis imposes some thermal limitations compared to thicker laptops, but sustained performance remains very respectable.

Surface temperatures also remained well controlled.

The aluminum chassis distributed heat evenly across the device, preventing noticeable hotspots. Most warmth was concentrated near the rear exhaust area, while the front display stayed relatively cool, particularly around the center where users are most likely to interact with the touchscreen.

Overall, Microsoft’s thermal design strikes an excellent balance between comfort and performance.

7. Verdict: Windows on ARM Has Finally Reached Maturity

Last year, when we reviewed the Surface Laptop (13-inch), we focused heavily on software compatibility because Windows on ARM was still proving itself. At the time, Microsoft’s Prism translation layer had already reached a point where most everyday applications ran smoothly, with only a handful of professional programs lacking ARM support.

One year later, the situation has improved even further.

Today, nearly all mainstream Windows applications run without issue, and many professional software developers have released native ARM versions of their applications. Software compatibility is no longer the major concern it once was.

The Snapdragon X2 Elite also delivers noticeably better performance when running translated x86 software.

Using CPU-Z as an example, the translated version achieves approximately 77% of the native multi-core performance and 72% of the native single-core performance. While there is still some performance overhead associated with emulation, it has been reduced enough that most users are unlikely to notice it during everyday computing.

Compared with last year’s Snapdragon X Plus platform, the improvements are substantial.

Although the processors belong to different product tiers and aren’t directly comparable, benchmark results clearly show the rapid evolution of Qualcomm’s PC processors:

Around 50% higher multi-core performance in CPU-Z

Approximately 20–30% higher scores in Cinebench R20 and R23

Significant gains in both performance and efficiency

These improvements make the new Surface Pro feel considerably faster than its predecessor across a wide range of workloads.

Perhaps the biggest surprise, however, is the new Adreno X2-85 GPU.

In 3DMark’s Wild Life benchmark, graphics performance has nearly doubled compared to the previous generation. Even more importantly, DirectX 11 and DirectX 12 benchmarks now place Qualcomm’s integrated graphics on par with the latest mainstream integrated GPUs from Intel.

For the first time, an ARM-based Windows PC is capable of handling not only office productivity but also light gaming and multimedia entertainment with confidence.

The Surface Pro (13-inch) ultimately succeeds because it combines several key strengths into one elegant device:

vivo is continuing to build anticipation for its upcoming Vivo X500 series, with the company now highlighting a major upgrade to the phones’ flagship chipset platform.

vivo product manager Han Boxiao shared another teaser today, reiterating the company’s focus on smartphone imaging. He described the X500 series’ goal as pursuing “first-class photography and unmatched video capabilities,” while also revealing that the new lineup will receive a significant chip upgrade.

According to the latest information, the vivo X500 Pro series is set to become the first smartphone lineup to globally debut with a 2nm MediaTek Dimensity flagship processor. The chip is expected to be the Dimensity 9600 Pro, representing a major step forward in semiconductor manufacturing and flagship mobile performance.

The move would give the X500 Pro a notable hardware advantage if the reported specifications materialize. It belongs Vivo flagship smartphones series. Moving to a 2nm process could potentially improve performance and power efficiency, although the actual gains will depend on the chip architecture and vivo’s optimization. Here are details about MediaTek Dimensity processors.

vivo X500 Series Expected to Launch in September

Earlier today, Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station claimed that the vivo X500 series could launch in September with three models introduced at the same time.

The lineup is reportedly expected to arrive among the earliest Chinese flagship smartphone launches of the second half of the year. The X500 Pro is particularly noteworthy because it is rumored to debut the 2nm Dimensity 9600 Pro globally.

If this information proves accurate, vivo would be positioning the X500 Pro as one of the first major smartphones to combine next-generation chip manufacturing with a strong emphasis on mobile photography and video.

Imaging Remains the Core Focus

While the chipset upgrade is attracting attention, vivo’s latest teaser suggests that camera performance will remain the defining feature of the X500 family.

The company’s messaging continues to emphasize photography and video rather than treating the processor as the sole selling point. This suggests that vivo could pair the new Dimensity platform with substantial upgrades to its camera hardware, image-processing capabilities, and computational photography system. Here to check smartphone photography.

More specific details about the camera configuration, sensor selection, video capabilities, and imaging partnership have yet to be officially revealed.

iQOO 16 Series Also Reportedly Coming Later

Digital Chat Station also claims that the iQOO 16 series and an iQOO compact tablet could arrive toward the end of September.

Meanwhile, vivo’s next handheld gimbal product is reportedly being scheduled for a slightly later launch and may be introduced separately.

For now, vivo has not revealed the complete specifications or exact launch date for the X500 series. However, the combination of a 2nm Dimensity flagship chip and a camera-first strategy indicates that the X500 Pro could become one of vivo’s most ambitious flagship smartphones yet.

More official information is expected as vivo continues its pre-launch campaign.

The wireless earbud market has become crowded enough that simply adding another pair of Bluetooth earbuds is no longer interesting. What matters is how well a model balances sound, comfort, connectivity, call quality, gaming performance, and battery life without making the user constantly compromise.

The Monster Airstar A03 takes a fairly ambitious approach. It combines Bluetooth 6.0, coaxial dual-unit drivers, active noise cancellation, ENC microphones, LDAC/Hi-Res audio support, a 38ms low-latency mode, touch controls, and an IPX4 rating into a compact in-ear design.

Rather than competing purely on battery capacity, the A03 is designed around versatility. It is intended to move between music, phone calls, gaming, commuting, and exercise without requiring a different pair of earbuds for each situation.

That makes the more interesting question not whether the specification sheet looks impressive, but whether all these features make the A03 a genuinely useful everyday pair of wireless earbuds.

A Dual-Driver Approach Gives the A03 a Different Starting Point

One of the more interesting details about the Airstar A03 is its coaxial dual-unit driver configuration.

Instead of relying on a single driver to reproduce the entire audible range, the design separates the audio workload between two driver units. In theory, that can give the earbuds more flexibility when reproducing bass, vocals, and higher-frequency detail.

The product is also marketed around deep bass and dynamic sound, suggesting that Monster is aiming for an energetic presentation rather than an aggressively neutral studio-style tuning.

This distinction matters.

A listener who mainly enjoys pop, electronic music, hip-hop, rock, or other bass-oriented genres may appreciate a more powerful low-end presentation. Someone looking for an extremely flat reference sound may have different priorities.

The A03 therefore makes more sense as a consumer-focused listening product than as a specialist monitoring earphone.

Bluetooth 6.0 Is About More Than the Number

Bluetooth 6.0 is one of the headline specifications, but the version number itself should not be treated as a guarantee of dramatically better sound.

Wireless audio performance depends on the complete implementation, including the Bluetooth chipset, codecs, antenna design, source device, and software.

The A03’s listed Bluetooth range is around 10 meters, while its wireless system is designed to provide quick pairing and stable everyday connectivity.

For typical use, that is what matters.

Walking around a room, taking the phone out of your pocket during a commute, or moving between your desk and nearby areas should be more relevant to most users than chasing a theoretical maximum range.

The A03 also supports SBC and AAC according to the available user guide, while some retail listings additionally market the product with LDAC/Hi-Res audio support. Because codec availability can vary by source device and regional configuration, buyers should verify the exact supported codec list for their version before purchasing.

What LDAC Could Mean for Music Quality

The A03 is marketed with LDAC and Hi-Res audio positioning, which gives it a stronger audiophile angle than many inexpensive wireless earbuds.

LDAC is useful because it can transmit considerably more audio data than basic Bluetooth codecs when the phone and earbuds both support it. However, simply having LDAC available does not automatically transform an earbud into a high-end audio product.

The actual result still depends on:

the recording itself

the phone or music player

codec settings

driver quality

tuning

fit inside the ear

listening environment

In other words, LDAC is best regarded as a higher-quality wireless transmission option, not a guarantee of better sound in every situation.

The A03’s coaxial driver design is arguably just as important to its sound character as the codec support.

Active Noise Cancellation Has a Practical Role

The Airstar A03 also includes active noise cancellation, with available documentation listing ANC support and approximately 15–20dB of noise reduction.

That level should be viewed in context.

ANC works best against predictable, continuous low-frequency sounds such as air-conditioning systems, engines, buses, trains, and general background hum. It is less effective against sudden voices, sharp noises, or irregular sounds.

For commuting, working in a café, or traveling, ANC can make the listening experience more comfortable because the user does not need to compete with as much background noise.

The A03 also provides a transparency mode, allowing outside sound to be brought back into the listening experience when situational awareness is more important. The touch controls can be used to switch between the available modes.

That makes the A03 more flexible than earbuds that simply offer ANC with no practical way to quickly return to ambient listening.

ENC Calls Target a Different Problem

Noise cancellation for music and noise reduction for phone calls are not the same thing.

The A03 uses dual microphones and ENC call noise reduction to help separate the user’s voice from surrounding environmental noise.

This is particularly useful in everyday situations such as:

walking beside a road

working in an office

sitting in a café

commuting

making calls outdoors

The goal isn’t to make the surroundings completely silent for the person on the other end. Instead, ENC processing attempts to make the user’s speech easier to understand.

That distinction is worth making because marketing descriptions often use “noise cancellation” to describe several different technologies.

The 38ms Gaming Mode Is One of Its More Interesting Features

For casual gaming, audio delay can be surprisingly distracting.

The A03 advertises a 38ms low-latency gaming mode, designed to reduce the perceived gap between an action on screen and the corresponding sound.

This does not make the A03 a dedicated competitive gaming headset. Competitive players may still prefer wired audio or specialized 2.4GHz gaming systems with even lower and more consistent latency.

For mobile gaming, however, 38ms is a much more relevant proposition. Here is low-latency gaming earbuds.

Footsteps, weapon sounds, button feedback, and other short audio cues can feel more closely synchronized with the image when latency is reduced.

The ability to switch between Game and Music modes also makes the earbuds more versatile for users who alternate between gaming and normal listening.

Bass Is Clearly Part of the A03’s Identity

Monster’s tuning direction is particularly obvious in the product’s emphasis on dynamic deep bass.

The combination of coaxial drivers and the brand’s sound tuning is intended to produce a fuller low-frequency presentation rather than an extremely restrained sound.

That could be particularly enjoyable with music that benefits from rhythm and impact.

However, bass-heavy tuning always involves a trade-off. If the low end becomes too dominant, vocals and upper-frequency detail can feel less prominent.

The A03’s appeal will therefore depend partly on whether the listener prefers energetic consumer tuning or a more neutral presentation.

For everyday entertainment, the former can be considerably more enjoyable.

Touch Controls Make the Earbuds Easier to Use

The A03 uses touch controls rather than requiring users to repeatedly reach for their phone.

The available instructions provide dedicated touch gestures for functions such as:

answering and ending calls

rejecting calls

controlling playback

switching ANC and transparency

changing Game/Music modes

powering the earbuds on and off

clearing pairing information

The controls are comprehensive, although multi-tap commands inevitably require some memorization.

For someone who uses earbuds while walking or exercising, being able to change modes without taking out a phone is a useful advantage.

Battery Life Is the Biggest Reality Check

Battery performance is one area where expectations need to remain realistic.

The available A03 user guide lists approximately 4 hours of music playback at 50% volume, with 28mAh batteries inside the individual earbuds and a 300mAh charging case.

Another retail listing gives an estimated 4–5 hours of playback, depending on usage conditions.

That means the A03 is not designed around exceptionally long single-session listening.

For a normal commute, workout, work session, or gaming session, the runtime can be adequate. But users who regularly listen for many hours without returning the earbuds to the case may want something with a longer per-charge battery.

The case helps extend overall usage by providing additional charges, but the exact total runtime depends on volume, ANC, codec, connection conditions, and other features.

IPX4 Makes Sense for Exercise

The A03 carries an IPX4 rating, giving it protection against water splashes rather than making it waterproof.

For sports earbuds, that is a useful baseline.

Sweat during a workout and light rain during a commute are very different from submerging earbuds in water. The IPX4 rating should therefore be interpreted as everyday splash resistance, not permission to swim with them or expose them to heavy water.

For gym sessions, walking, and casual outdoor exercise, the rating fits the intended use well.

Comfort Matters More Than a Specification Sheet

Sound quality and features are only half of the wireless-earbud experience.

The A03 uses an in-ear design and comes with S, M, and L ear tips, allowing users to adjust the fit.

That matters because ear-tip selection affects much more than comfort.

A good seal can improve bass response and passive isolation while also helping ANC work more effectively. A poor fit can make even technically capable earbuds sound thin.

For that reason, users should spend a few minutes experimenting with the included ear-tip sizes rather than immediately deciding that the sound is wrong.

Where the Airstar A03 Makes the Most Sense

The A03 is particularly interesting for people who don’t want separate headphones for different activities.

For Music

The combination of dual drivers, bass-focused tuning, ANC, and higher-quality codec support gives the A03 a strong entertainment-oriented profile.

For Commuting

ANC can reduce persistent environmental noise, while transparency mode gives users a way to hear more of their surroundings when necessary.

For Calls

Dual microphones and ENC processing are designed to improve voice clarity in noisy environments.

For Mobile Gaming

The 38ms low-latency mode is one of the more compelling features for casual and moderately serious mobile gaming.

For Exercise

The compact in-ear design, touch controls, and IPX4 protection make the A03 suitable for workouts and outdoor activity in light weather.

What Could Be Better?

The A03 isn’t perfect, and its limitations become clearer once the headline features are examined.

Battery Life Is Average

Around four to five hours per charge is acceptable, but not outstanding compared with some modern wireless earbuds.

Bluetooth 6.0 Doesn’t Guarantee Better Sound

The newer Bluetooth version is useful, but sound quality still depends heavily on the codec, source device, drivers, tuning, and fit.

LDAC Support Should Be Verified

Available listings are not completely consistent about the codec specification. The user guide lists SBC/AAC, while retail material promotes LDAC/Hi-Res capability.

If LDAC is an important reason for buying the A03, confirm that the exact version being sold supports it with your phone.

ANC Isn’t a Substitute for Isolation

Even effective ANC cannot remove every type of environmental noise. Proper ear-tip fit remains important.

38ms Is Good for Casual Gaming, Not the Absolute Lowest Latency

Competitive gamers who prioritize every millisecond may still prefer dedicated gaming audio hardware.

Who Should Buy the Monster Airstar A03?

The A03 is most appealing to users who want a multi-purpose pair of wireless earbuds with an emphasis on bass, noise reduction, calls, and low-latency gaming.

It is a sensible candidate for:

commuters

casual gamers

gym users

bass-focused music listeners

people who frequently make calls outdoors

users who want ANC without moving into premium pricing

listeners who want multiple modes in one pair of earbuds

It is less suitable for:

people demanding all-day battery life from a single charge

professional audio monitoring

serious competitive gaming

users who need waterproof rather than splash-resistant earbuds

buyers who require guaranteed LDAC support without checking the exact version

Final Verdict

The Monster Airstar A03 is interesting because it doesn’t rely on one headline feature to justify itself.

Bluetooth 6.0 handles the modern connectivity side, while the coaxial dual-unit design targets a fuller sound presentation. ANC addresses commuting and background noise, ENC focuses on calls, and the 38ms gaming mode gives mobile players a reason to consider it beyond music.

The approximately four-to-five-hour per-charge battery life is less impressive, but the overall feature balance is what makes the A03 worth considering.

Its biggest strength is versatility.

Instead of being designed exclusively as a music-first earbud, gaming earbud, or sports earbud, the A03 attempts to cover all three roles reasonably well.

For listeners who prefer strong bass, everyday ANC, convenient touch controls, low-latency gaming, and a compact sports-friendly design, the Airstar A03 offers a compelling feature set for its category.

Just keep expectations realistic: this is a feature-rich consumer TWS earbud, not a replacement for high-end audiophile monitors or a dedicated competitive gaming headset.

QCY is now a top brand. There aren’t many budge wireless earbuds like AirPods Pro with all the bells and whistles. The cheapest top pick is the Baseus EP10 Pro ANC, The new QCY MeloBuds N70 cost only around 50 euros, and offer features usually found in models three times as expensive. I tested the in-ear headphones for two weeks and in this article I’ll explain whether you should have these earbuds or not. Let’s find out.

Unboxing

So, I finally got the QCY MeloBuds N70 in, and the box it comes in is just your typical small, basic packaging. Once you actually get inside, you’ve got the black case with the buds in it, obviously, but they are also packed in a USB-C cable and a bunch of extra ear tips. I counted four extra pairs, which is kind of a lot, but hey, it’s better than having too few. To be honest, it’s just a relief that the whole setup is ready to use right away. You don’t have to go out and buy anything else or hunt for a spare cable, which is always a plus in my book. Just open it up and you’re basically set.

Design

The earbuds come in purple, gray, and black, although the blue one I tried honestly looks the safest and most normal out of the bunch. Build quality? Basically fine. The case is super light and made of plastic, and the earbuds mix matte and shiny parts together, so yeah, it doesn’t really feel expensive, but I wasn’t expecting luxury here anyway. I noticed the big “QCY” logo on the case might annoy some people though. Kinda depends how picky you are.

What surprised me more was the fit. Usually these in-ear things fall out of my ears after like 10 minutes and it gets annoying fast, but the default tips actually fit me really well this time, which almost never happens, and since they throw in a bunch of extra sizes too, most people should probably find one that works. Short version? They stay put.

So, the IPX5 rating is actually pretty nice to have. Basically, you don’t really have to stress about sweat or a bit of water getting on them, which in my book makes them way more usable for gym sessions or even outdoor runs when the weather suddenly decides to act weird. I noticed a lot of cheaper earbuds skip this kind of thing, so yeah, that’s a plus.

Anyway, getting the earbuds out of the case felt awkward at first. Kinda weird shape. I kept fumbling with them for the first day or two, not gonna lie, and it definitely takes some getting used to, but after a while it’s fine. The case itself is actually pretty useful though because it works like a little power bank too, and honestly I wasn’t expecting wireless charging at this price since most stuff around this range usually just throws in USB-C and calls it a day. Which is nice.

Connectivity

So, before you even pair these things up with your phone or laptop, honestly you should just go download the QCY app first because it’s actually pretty useful and not just a throwaway companion app like you’d expect. It’s got an equalizer, ANC switching (they claim up to 56 dB which is kinda wild), transparency mode, gaming mode, and even a little lost earbuds finder thing, which is a plus if you’re the type who loses stuff constantly.

Anyway, multipoint is here too, so you can be hooked up to your phone and laptop at the same time, which sounds like a small thing but I noticed it genuinely makes day-to-day use way less annoying when you’re juggling calls and music. To be honest the codec situation is where it gets interesting for me because you’ve got SBC and AAC which is whatever, but they also threw in LDAC on earbuds in this price range and in my book that’s not something you see every day. Basically the whole thing also comes with Hi-Res Wireless certification and Bluetooth 6.0. Not bad.

Sound Quality

So, I’ve been messing around with the QCY MeloBuds N70 for a bit and honestly the first thing I noticed is that these things get loud. Like, they’ve got this MEMS tweeter from USound paired with a ring-shaped dynamic driver, which I didn’t really expect at this price point, and at higher volumes the sound actually gets warmer and more detailed instead of just turning into a horrible mess, which is a plus.

Anyway, the sound isn’t trying to be anything it’s not. It’s bass-heavy, the soundstage is kind of narrow, and instrument separation is… fine, I guess? In my case that’s totally acceptable because you can tell it’s tuned for just enjoying music rather than sitting there analyzing every little layer, and to be honest the equalizer in the app gives you enough room to tweak things to your taste so it’s not a dealbreaker. The ANC is basically solid for home or office stuff, fans, AC, that kind of boring background noise, and it holds up on the bus too, though don’t go in expecting it to blow your mind. I’d call it a 3/5 situation. Transparency mode though? Actually, it’s good. And calls are clear enough that nobody’s complained yet, which, honestly, says enough.

Battery

So, battery life on the QCY MeloBuds N70 is honestly one of the things I was most impressed by. At 80% volume with ANC on and LDAC running, you’re getting around 6 hours of listening time, which in my case is pretty solid for having all the good stuff switched on at once. Turn those off though and you’re looking at closer to 12 hours. I couldn’t bring myself to do that, to be honest, because once you’ve heard LDAC audio you kind of don’t want to go back.

Anyway, when the buds run out you just toss them in the case and it’ll charge them up again. The case has enough juice to fully charge both earbuds something like 5-6 times before it needs a top-up itself, which is a plus. Charging the case is pretty flexible too, it has USB-C or you can just drop it on a wireless pad, whatever’s easier. I noticed the case goes from dead to full in about 90 minutes, and the earbuds themselves only take around 20 minutes inside the case. Pretty quick. Basically no excuses for running out of battery on a commute. I use it for my gym session and also late night movies or music. I charged it once a week maybe or more. I never saw that type of battery life in any earbuds before.

So, each earbud’s actually got three mics in it, which honestly surprised me a bit when I found out. Anyway, I did a phone call test and the person on the other end said they could hear me just fine, like, no complaints, no “wait what did you say,” nothing. Just clear audio. Which, in my book, is really all you need from a mic setup.

Verdict

So, I’ve been using the QCY MeloBuds N70 for a bit now and honestly? Pretty impressed with what you’re paying. The sound is just… good. Like genuinely good, not “good for the price” good, I’m talking clear, full, punchy audio that I’d put up against stuff costing way more without even flinching, and the bass especially caught me off guard because it actually hits without turning into a muddy mess which, in my case, is the hardest thing to get right at this price point.

Anyway, the ANC works. I noticed it holds up even when I’ve got the volume cranked, which is a plus. The mics are kinda meh though, to be honest. Not gonna lie. But I mean, these are earbuds, you’re buying them to listen to stuff, not to record a podcast, so it’s not really a dealbreaker for me. If you’re just looking for a solid pair of earbuds that don’t cost a fortune and get the basics right, these are basically it.
