Design
The POWKIDDY X18 is relatively compact at 14.5 x 8.7 x 2.7 cm and weighs approximately 300 g. The handheld has a 5.5-inch touchscreen display that operates at 720p, although you can connect it to an external display via its HDMI out.
Hardware
The POWKIDDY has equipped the X18 with a MediaTek MT8163 V/B SoC, a now four-year-old chip that integrates four ARM Cortex-A53 processors that can clock up to 1.5 GHz. The SoC also integrates an ARM Mali-T720 MP2 GPU and is complemented by 2 GB DDR3 RAM and 16 GB of eMMC flash storage. You can also expand its storage with a microSD card should you need to do so. The X18 supports up to IEEE 802.11 n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0.
Features
The clamshell games console has two joysticks, a d-pad and numerous other buttons including Y, B, A and X that mimic the colors of corresponding Xbox controller buttons. The X18 has four shoulder buttons too, a headphone jack and a micro USB port for charging its 5,000 mAh battery. The device comes with a customized version of Android 7.0 pre-installed, although we doubt that POWKIDDY plans to update it to a newer version of Android.
