Review of the Godox Thinklite TT600 Camera Flash – A professional flash suitable for all DSLR cameras (Flash sales + coupon included)

Every professional photographer knows very well that he might be using the most perfect camera with trillions of MP and tons of features, if your subjects are not lit properly the whole picture will turn out to be a mess. CamFere, a company expert in cameras, comes in to save the day, proposing for these cases the latest model from Godox, the Godox Thinklite TT600 Camera Flash. Godox Thinklite TT600 features the Godox wireless X system using the 2.4G ratio transmission. The flash can be used from DSLR cameras like  AD360II-C, AD360II-N, TT685C, TT685N, X1T-C, X1T-N, etc. Due to the standard hot shoe, can be also used from DSLR cameras from Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, etc. ThinkLite TT660 flash is an upgrade to the ThinkLite TT560, with a new design, higher guide number and a flash head that zooms to different focal lengths.

    01

    Design

Godox Thinklite TT600 Camera Flash as we said before, because it has standard hot shoe, can be also used DSLR cameras from Canon, Nikon, Pentax, Olympus, etc. The hotshoe foot is made from metal featuring a locking ring, but with no locking pin, so you have only the friction to rely on to keep your flash secure. Now if this doesn’t look very secure for you, there’s a rather unique alternative mounting option on the side, a ¼-inch tripod screw socket. The quality of the construction is good, with no creakiness from the plastic. Gives a feeling of a strong construction with everything from the buttons to the swivel head has a reassuring tactile response. The weakest points I could say that have to be are probably the battery door and the pull-out diffuser. On the top part of the flash, we see markings every 30 degrees for horizontal swivel and at 45, 60 and 75 degrees for vertical tilt (if you point the flash straight forward you count this as 0 and straight up is 90). The movement is easy, with firm clicks at each step but no way of locking the head into any particular position. You can’t tilt the head downwards. For synchronizing there is a not a screw-lock type PC jack. At the back side features a display where you can read info about the flash Item. The flash weights approx. 400g and it’s dimensions are 6.4 x 7.6 x 19cm.

    Features

Godox Thinklite TT600 Camera Flash is practically foolproof, so you wont need to read from before any manual. Filled in with no complicated menus to navigate, no strange named features like TTL or stroboscopic mode. Every button does one single job only and that’s it! While this does mean you sacrifice the level of customization offered by more advanced flashes such as the YN560-III, you’re never at risk of messing up the settings in quite the same way. This means that even an amateur can work with an ease with this flash. As we have said at the back there is a display. There we can see three blue LEDs: one to indicate the operating mode, one the zoom level and one the power. The flash goes to sleep after 30 minutes when in manual mode, or an hour in S1 and S2 mode. If you press any button, you will wake it up. You can’t disable sleep mode, but with intervals as long as this, would you ever need to? Godox Thinklite TT600 Camera Flash as we said at the beginning, uses the Godox wireless X-system, with the built-in 2.4G wireless transmission in order to transmit and receive of course data. It can be used with other flash, like Godox AD360II-C/AD360II-N flash, TT685C/TT685N flash, X1T-C/X1T-N trigger and other devices that have a wireless control system to work with. If you own and the Godox X1 TTL wireless flash trigger you can have remote control, with high speed sync and many more functions, which can make your shooting simpler and easier for you. If you own any camera like Canon, for Nikon, for Pentax, for Olympus, etc. and has a standard hot shoe you can use the Godox Thinklite TT600 Camera Flash as a flash. Power is only adjustable in whole stops, which makes settings easy to read and change, but gives you less precise control over the output. Other flashes offer 1/2 or 1/3-stop precision, but sometimes this is managed in a clunky way, so maybe it is better than Godox omitted the feature rather than implementing it poorly. The slave sensor is hidden away behind the red window on the front of the flash. There are just three modes:

M = manual mode, for use on-camera, with sync cables and radio triggers.
S1 = simple optical slave. The TT660 will trigger when it sees another manual flash go off. A quick way to get into off-camera lighting.
S2 = clever optical slave. The TT660 will trigger when it sees a TTL flash go off, ignoring the pre-flashes.

    03 04

    Battery

Godox Thinklite TT600 Camera Flash uses Ni-MH batteries (recommend) or 4 x LR6 alkaline batteries as a power supply. For full power flash times, the flash can operate about 230 times if you are using 2500mA Ni-MH batteries. For recycle time needs about 0.1~2.6 seconds. To use the flash Red LED indicator must light up.

    05 06

    Performance

At the 50mm zoom level, from one meter away, Godox Thinklite TT600 Camera Flash sets f/20, with Iso-100 and 1/125 second with a Sekonic L-358 light meter. These numbers are not the best for a professional, but TT660 has plenty of light for many applications. The flash has an overheat protection feature. If for example you fire 20 full power flashes in quick succession then it’ll automatically increase the recycle time to 10–35 seconds so ThinkLite will have enough time to cool down. If you’re persistent and continue to overwork the TT660 then it will switch it off for about ten minutes, enough time to think it over for the next time not to do it. The ThinkLite won’t fire during recycling. You can shoot only when the LED charging indicator glows red. It’s analogous to focus priority (vs. shutter priority) on your camera — you might miss a few shots but every one you do get will be a “correct” one. So overall the performance is OK, but not about to break any records. It is basic, to match the controls.

    07 08

    Conclusion

The Godox ThinkLite TT660 camera flash is really easy to use with a good set of features suitable for getting anybody up and running with flash photography. The TT660 has all the things you need, if not everything that everybody might want. There is a flash sales at camfere.com and with our coupon Triple8 till the end of December, you will be able to get the flash with a 8% discount at the final price. So now for Christmas holidays, don’t you need a easy to use with good features flash to get the perfect family photos!? Think about it….
