Top 3 Misconceptions Associated with Game Streaming and Gamers

Over the past few years, gaming has gained great traction among people. Technology is thriving day by day and with the emergence of technologies like AR/VR, and gaming consoles have played a vital role in amplifying the gaming trend. Moreover, easy access to gaming through smartphones has given a massive boost to the gaming industry. Without the internet, it would not have been possible for the gaming industry to thrive and grow over the past few decades. Thanks to the internet service providers offering speeds up to 1Gbps without letting gamers to wait for the screens to load.

“In 2020, gamers on immersive gaming will spend approximately $4.5 billion. While during the forecast year 2020-2025, the global gaming industry is expected to record a CAGR of 12%”.

In this era, when online gaming has gained massive traction among common households, few misconceptions are misleading the masses. We are writing this post to unveil the myths and misconceptions that are prevailing in the minds of masses especially those who are not involved in gaming. Let’s dive in without waiting.

    1. Gaming is Addictive

In our opinion, being online is addictive in itself. As we look around, we will find ourselves chained in the charismatic online world, whether it be in the form of gaming, socializing, streaming, or browsing.

To some extent, gaming excessively is harmful to mental and physical health for both adults and kids. But there are some positive aspects of gaming. According to research, 6 years old kids should not play more than half an hour. While for kids, aged 3 should play 10 minutes per day. Playing games can be helpful in the mental development of kids and adults. It also teaches about teamwork and enhances the skills of planning, deploying, and leading.

    2. Gaming Consoles don’t Require Streaming

Gaming technology is getting advanced day by day. A gamer who owns an Xbox 360 might face lagging issues in the future. This might not get resolved unless the gamer purchases an upgraded version of the console. When it comes to PC, the lagging issue might be resolved by replacing a graphics card. However, the fact is that there is no choice left for gamers rather than updating the system.

With the advent of time, streaming technology is progressing. The company you may be using owns the hardware. No matter, what PC or gaming console you own irrespective of its power and age; you will be able to stream games at 4K, 8k, and 16K.

Google Stadia as the gamers might know have mishandled its launch. The competitors like Microsoft have stepped up to prepare its streaming project known as xCloud. The project offers a huge collection of games from entire Xbox consoles to be streamed anywhere. Moreover, PlayStation is also working on its streaming service after the release of Google Stadia. In short, the quality of the products will enhance in the future years.

    3. Gaming Leads to Violence

Every time we turn on our television sets, we come to hear about the gun shooting at a public place, some school, or a shopping mall. An investigation held by the crime department associates the reason with a person’s involvement in playing violent games. In recent times, shooting games like Call of Duty, Fortnite, Counter-Strike, and PubG have been played by millions all around the world.

The association of violent games with an individual’s behavior is not relevant. The recent scientific experiment suggests that the association between aggression and games is quite weak. In the study published in Molecular Psychiatry, participants were asked to play games for two months, including violent and non-violent games and no game at all. With the help of questionnaires and social measures to test hostility, mental health issues, and sexist attitudes, the authors found that there were no negative effects, playing violent games on any of these measures.

    Summing Up

Gaming in itself is not bad at all. Some people might think that it is a waste of time, while others might perceive it as anti-social. However, the fact is that these myths are developed over the years without any valid evidence and scientific proofs. Yes, some gamers might have developed some negative habits, but that does not justify the whole community of gamers.
