How to spoof your location on Android?

Brady CottonBy Brady CottonJune 3, 2022

If you use a smartphone, your usage history is tracked and recorded. The phone’s location is one of the key information that smartphones record. However, you may not be comfortable with your Android phone being traced, so you can easily falsify your location to make sure no individual or person is able to check your whereabouts.

The simplest option, in this case, is to turn off the location sensors in your device. However, if you need to fake your location to achieve a particular objective, turning off the location sensors will not be a suitable option. Therefore, location spoofing can be a good alternative.

Location spoofing allows you to deceive applications by modifying your real-time location. The application remains under the impression that you are situated in some other region. This initiative provides you with access to location-restricted applications. For example, you can play games available in a particular area or watch Netflix series that do not have licenses in your country.

If you want to know how you can spoof your location on Android, this guide is for you.

    So, let’s get started!

    Research GPS spoofing apps

The first thing you need to do is research GPS spoofing applications. GPS spoofing is a term used to describe a technology that enables a person to modify data in order to make the device appear to be placed in a different time zone or location. A GPS spoofing application can help you achieve this objective. Since there are several applications available on Google Play Store, you can choose the right app for yourself by reading customer reviews. This way, you can find a reliable application.

However, if you do not want to spoof your GPS location, you can simply rely on a dependable VPN to change your location. By connecting to a VPN you can pretend to be in another location, i.e if you are located in Portugal and want to access content from Chile you can simply connect with a Chile server by using VPN to change your location to Chile.

    Download application

If you have decided to go for GPS spoofing, the next step is to download the application and install the program on your device. Most applications are offered on the Google Play Store for free, but they may come with in-app charges.

Once the application is installed, you can use it easily. Fortunately, Android’s platform does not require you to jailbreak or use third-party app repositories to download these apps. Additionally, you will not even have to root the device to install or use the app. You can simply take advantage of the application on all types of smartphones without requiring much technical knowledge.

    Enable developer options

The next step of the process is to enable “developer’s settings” on your Android device. This is a hidden menu extended by Android that allows users to access numerous customization options to personalize their device. These settings are automatically hidden as making modifications to the settings can cause glitches in the phone’s operating system. Fortunately, some of the settings are reversible, so there is no harm in enabling the developer’s setting tab. That said, it is recommended to stay informed about each setting and the function it performs.

You can enable the developer’s settings by:

    • Go to your phone’s ‘Settings’
    • Scroll down to the “About Phone or System” option
    • Tap on “Software Information”
    • Select “Build Number” and tap on it several times
    • Type in your phone’s passcode
    • You will see the notification that the developer’s mode is turned on

    Activate location faking app

Once the developer’s mode is turned on, you can easily activate the location faking application. To do this, follow the ensuing steps:

    • Go to “Settings”
    • Scroll down to “About phone” and select “Developer’s option”
    • Scroll down and select the “mock location app” option
    • Select the application you previously downloaded
    • Set your desired location

    Spoof your location

Using the GPS spoofing application, you can select any region that you want. All you have to do is position the target over the location you want your phone to appear. Following this, you can click the small Play icon on the bottom right corner of the screen. Often, a quick ad will run on the screen. Once the ad is completed, you can move the location around on the map or disable the joystick feature and allow the application to run in the background.

    The bottom line

Spoofing your location on Android devices is quite simple. You can research and download the right GPS spoofing application and enable the developer’s option on your phone. After that, activate the GPS spoofing app, set your location, and access any media that you want!
