Huepar GF360G Green 3D Laser Level Overview

Brady CottonBy Brady CottonDecember 4, 2024
Facebook Twitter Pinterest LinkedIn Tumblr Email

Huepar GF360G  is a 3D green laser level capable of projecting three 360-degree laser planes. It offers both horizontal and vertical laser lines, forming precise laser plumb points at the intersections, making it ideal for construction, interior design, and precise measurement tasks.

After testing this product, I believe that although it is feature-rich, it may not be the best model in the Huepar laser level series. Let’s go through the product’s features step by step.

    Technical Specifications

    • Accuracy: ±3mm/10m
    • Working Distance: 45m without a receiver (*100 LUX), 60m radius / 120m diameter with a receiver
    • Self-leveling Range: 4°±1°
    • Laser Wavelength: 510 ± 5nm
    • Laser Class: Class 2 (IEC/EN60825-1/2014), ≤1mW
    • Power Supply: 3.7V Li-ion battery, 5200mAh
    • Operating Time: Approx. 5 hours (with all laser planes activated)
    • Dust/Water Protection: IP54
    • Operating Temperature: -10ºC to +50ºC
    • Storage Temperature: -20ºC to +70ºC
    • Dimensions: 12.8×8.5x12cm
    • Weight: 1261g (with accessories)
    • Minimum Height from Ground: 11.2cm
    • Minimum Height from Ceiling: 0.8cm
    • Minimum Distance from Wall: 1cm

    Housing Design

The Huepar GF360G is made of high-quality ABS plastic and covered with durable rubber. The laser towers are also made of plastic and are secured with four screws through rubber gaskets for added protection. Both the top and bottom ends of the glass are protected by rubber gaskets, which is a good design feature. A similar approach is used in Huepar’s new 4D laser level, the LS04CG.

However, there are some design shortcomings. First, the charging port cover is made of either very hard rubber or soft plastic, making it difficult to close tightly, which can be frustrating during use. In contrast, this issue has been fixed in the newer Huepar B03CG model, where the cover is made of softer rubber, sealing the port effectively.

On a related note, the new 4D laser level, Huepar 904DG, has also addressed this issue, with no such problem occurring. Although this might seem like a minor detail, it significantly impacts usability.

At the base of the Huepar GF360G, there is a rectangular metal insert with two threaded holes for mounting it onto tripods and other accessories. This may seem like another minor detail, but compared to models like the Huepar 603CG or Firecore F93T-XG, which have embedded threads, the design of GF360G appears less sleek and refined.

    Battery Compartment and Assembly Design

The battery compartment cover of the Huepar GF360G is non-removable and seems to be made of cheaper plastic, making it inconvenient to open and close. The latch is not very user-friendly and can cause discomfort when opening it. Installing the battery requires careful alignment of the small plastic guide inside the battery compartment with the notch on the battery itself.

Fortunately, the battery itself is a common 18650 model, which can be easily replaced. This means that if the battery fails, users can simply replace the internal cells rather than buying a whole new battery, saving costs.

    Self-Leveling System

The Huepar GF360G uses a standard magnetic-damped pendulum compensator, which completes self-leveling in about 3-4 seconds. The maximum allowable tilt for the compensator is 4°±1°. If the tilt exceeds this range, the pendulum cannot maintain vertical accuracy, and the laser lines will begin to flash as a warning.

It’s important to note that this model only features visual alerts—there are no audio alerts to indicate the out-of-level state, unlike some other models.

    Accuracy Test

In the accuracy test, the Huepar GF360G performed well, especially with its horizontal accuracy. Over a 10-meter distance, the measurement error was less than 4mm, which is well below the allowable tolerance of 6mm.

No critical vertical deviations were found either. However, if you do notice significant deviations in your unit, you can perform calibration at home, as explained in the following section.

    Laser Level Calibration

In some cases, you can calibrate the Huepar GF360G without disassembling the housing, particularly if the horizontal and one vertical plane share a small tilt in the same direction. Simply remove the protective towers and adjust the pendulum’s position using two hex screws.

    • Longitudinal Calibration Screw: Tightening this screw shifts the center of gravity of the pendulum, causing the front part of the horizontal plane to rise and the back part to drop. This adjustment also affects the front vertical line.
    • Lateral Calibration Screw: This screw controls the left-right tilt of the horizontal plane, ensuring the horizontal line remains level and adjusting the perpendicularity of the side vertical line.

If all planes show significant deviation, you may need to disassemble the housing. Afterward, inspect which laser module is more tightly attached to the pendulum and does not have a gap for separate adjustment. You would fully adjust the horizontal plane using the pendulum’s calibration screws, while the other planes are individually calibrated by adjusting the module’s four screws.

    Operation and Controls

The Huepar GF360G’s control interface is simple, though it comes with a few inconveniences. At the bottom of the device, there’s a compensator lock toggle, which is only for locking the pendulum during transport. When activated, no laser lines light up, increasing the risk of forgetting to lock the pendulum, which could lead to damage during transport.

The control interface consists of two buttons. The top power button turns the device on and off and switches between the laser planes, while the “P” button activates the receiver mode. When switching laser planes, simply press the power button multiple times, and to turn off the device, hold the power button for 3-4 seconds.

    Laser Line Thickness Test

In the laser line thickness test, the Huepar GF360G performed exceptionally well, especially over long distances. At a distance of 1 meter, the line width was 1.8mm. At 5 meters, the width reduced to about 1.4mm, and even at 10 meters, the line thickness was only 2mm, showcasing excellent precision.
