According to the official website of UKVIA, the British E-cigarette Industry Association (UKVIA) is preparing to launch the ninth annual VApril event next month. The association stated that this is the largest e-cigarette awareness initiative in the world.
UKVIA stated that over the past decade, VApril has been providing evidence-based information, expert insights, and practical guidance to support adult smokers who wish to quit smoking through the use of e-cigarettes in achieving their goal.
Focus on the impact of the “Tobacco and E-Cigarettes Act”
UKVIA stated that in 2026, April will be launched at a crucial juncture, as the “Tobacco and Vapes Bill” is currently being advanced in the British Parliament.
The association stated that although the government claims that the bill will help address the issue of minors’ exposure to e-cigarettes, which is also the goal that UKVIA supports, the bill will also grant ministers extensive powers to impose restrictions on flavors, packaging, and product displays.

UKVIA stated that these measures could potentially affect both adult e-cigarette users and smokers who are considering switching to less harmful alternatives.
UKVIA will release research, guidelines and encourage users to contact lawmakers.
In April 2026, in addition to continuing to support smokers in quitting smoking, the agency will also raise public awareness of the bill, emphasizing its potential impact on consumers, and encourage e-cigarette users to speak out about the products they choose to help them achieve a smoke-free state.
As part of this event, UKVIA will carry out a comprehensive natural social media campaign, releasing evidence-based guidelines and factual information, providing smoking cessation support resources for smokers, assisting e-cigarette users in writing letters to parliamentarians, and offering a sharing platform for former smokers who have successfully quit smoking through e-cigarettes.
UKVIA also stated that it will provide resources to event supporters to guide consumers in obtaining reliable information about electronic cigarettes, and encourage electronic cigarette retailers to showcase cases of helping smokers quit smoking through the “Switch That Stuck” testimony series.
In April 2026, a new consumer study will be released. The content includes public awareness of the “Tobacco and E-Cigarettes Act”, attitudes towards potential restrictions on electronic cigarette products, and whether e-cigarette users believe that the government truly acts in the interest of public health.
