Igeekphone News: On June 9th, Apple officially unveiled the new iOS 27 operating system at the WWDC 2026 developer conference.
The main focus of this iOS 27 upgrade is the new generation of Apple Intelligence and the brand-new Siri AI.
Apple announced that Apple Intelligence has collaborated with Google to introduce the Gemini large model and adopt a brand-new AI architecture, further enhancing the capabilities of Siri AI, enabling it to play a more significant role in the apps used by users on a daily basis.
Siri AI is the new version of Siri, deeply integrated into devices such as iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple Vision Pro. It has become smarter, more understanding of users, and more practical.
It is introduced that Siri AI can answer questions related to the current screen content, can also search within information, emails, photos and other contents based on the user’s personal situation, and can complete cross-App tasks through more systematic App operations.
In simple terms, the future Siri will no longer merely answer questions; instead, it will be able to truly assist users in “doing things”.
Apple has also launched a standalone Siri App. Users can review past conversations, initiate new ones, and the related conversation history will be privately synchronized across different devices via iCloud.
In terms of performance, iOS 27 also brings several optimizations, covering aspects such as app startup, photo loading, network switching, AirDrop transmission, hard drive reading and writing, as well as CPU scheduler.
Apple stated that after upgrading to iOS 27, the startup speed of apps on iPhone was increased by 30%, the loading speed of photos after taking a picture was improved by 70%, and the transmission speed of AirDrop was enhanced by 80%.
At the same time, when switching between cellular networks and wireless networks, the system performance will also be more smooth.
Furthermore, Apple also responded to users’ feedback regarding the Liquid Glass design and expressed “deep gratitude”.
Apple has made adjustments to the underlying foundation of Liquid Glass. The most significant change is the addition of a control slider, allowing users to adjust the liquid glass effect according to their preferences. Users can freely choose from completely opaque to completely transparent.
It is known that iOS 27 is compatible with 30 models. The iPhone SE (second generation and subsequent models), iPhone 11 series and subsequent models can all be upgraded.
This means that the iPhone 11 series released in 2019 has not been abandoned, and existing users can still receive support from the new system.
