iGEEKPHONE July 1st News: According to a blogger’s revelation, Huawei will release two major flagship devices simultaneously in September – the tri-fold screen Mate XT2 and the straight-plate flagship series Mate 90.
Among them, the Mate XT2 will compete directly with the Apple foldable iPhone Ultra that was launched at the same time. The foldable flagship devices of the two tech giants will have a head-on confrontation in the same month, and undoubtedly will become one of the most talked-about focuses in the mobile phone market in the second half of the year.

In terms of design, the Mate XT2 is the first to feature a U-shaped three-fold form. This device is equipped with two screens – an inner screen and an outer screen. Through a unique hinge structure, the inner screen folds inward on both sides, completely enclosing the main screen. All flexible display panels are stored inside the device body.
The direct benefit brought by this folding design is a significant improvement in the shock resistance and scratch protection of the device body. Users no longer need to worry about the external screen being scratched by hard objects due to its exposure during daily use, and the durability has been greatly enhanced.
In terms of color schemes, the Mate XT2 also offers four classic color options, namely Xuan Black, Rui Red, Zhi Xia, and Hao White. These colors are the same as those of the previous generation, balancing both the business-like elegance and the fashionable individuality.

In terms of hardware configuration, the Mate XT2 will be equipped with the Kirin 9050 series flagship chip. This chip is the first to adopt advanced logic folding technology, achieving a significant leap in transistor density and energy efficiency ratio. It can be regarded as the most powerful mobile phone chip of Huawei to date. Combined with the continuous optimization of Huawei’s imaging system and software ecosystem, the comprehensive experience of the Mate XT2 is expected to reach a new level.
In terms of price, considering the starting price of the previous generation Mate XTs at 17,999 yuan, and taking into account the improvements in hinge technology, screen material, and chip costs of the new generation product, the price of Huawei Mate XT2 is expected to be around 20,000 yuan.
Meanwhile, the Mate 90 series of full-screen flagship phones that are also on display will also be equipped with the Kirin 9050 platform, and will bring new upgrades in terms of imaging and display. As September approaches, this showdown between Huawei and Apple is highly anticipated.
