Honor has officially announced that it will unveil what it describes as the world’s first robot phone on August 12, marking a new step in the company’s AI hardware strategy. The device, known as the Honor Robot Phone, has been jointly developed with Alie, and aims to combine advanced artificial intelligence with an innovative robotic mechanical design.
The announcement follows weeks of teasers and leaks, with Honor positioning the device as more than just another flagship smartphone. Instead, it is being presented as the beginning of a new category that integrates robotics, AI, and mobile computing into a single platform.
Innovative 4DoF Mechanical Gimbal Design
According to previous reports, the Honor Robot Phone has already opened for pre-orders ahead of its official debut.
One of the device’s most distinctive features is a four-degree-of-freedom (4DoF) titanium alloy mechanical gimbal system integrated into the top of the smartphone. Unlike conventional smartphone camera stabilization systems, the robotic module is powered by miniature motors that allow physical movement.

Honor claims the new gimbal solution is 70% smaller than mainstream mechanical designs, enabling the company to integrate robotic movement into a smartphone without significantly increasing its size.
While Honor has yet to fully explain all of the system’s capabilities, the robotic mechanism is expected to improve camera stabilization, AI-assisted tracking, and interactive experiences that go beyond traditional smartphone hardware.

The Honor Robot Phone is expected to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 flagship mobile platform, providing the processing power required for advanced AI workloads, robotic control, and high-end mobile performance.
The flagship chipset will likely support on-device AI processing, advanced imaging capabilities, and next-generation gaming and productivity experiences.
Debut Device for Honor’s AgenticOS Vision
Beyond its hardware innovations, the Honor Robot Phone will also serve as the debut platform for the company’s next-generation AgenticOS ecosystem.
According to earlier reports, the device will be the first smartphone to integrate the core technologies behind Honor’s partner-based multimodal intelligent system, known as AgenticOS.
The preview version of AgenticOS is also expected to arrive on the upcoming Honor Magic9 series, but the Robot Phone will showcase its capabilities first.

AgenticOS is designed to move beyond traditional voice assistants by enabling AI agents that can understand multiple forms of input—including voice, images, text, and contextual information—and proactively assist users with complex tasks.
A New Direction for AI Smartphones
The Honor Robot Phone reflects a growing trend among smartphone manufacturers to integrate artificial intelligence more deeply into both hardware and software.
