The new Intel NUC Crimson Canyon is closer to market. These new mini PCs come with an Intel Cannon Lake processor and a dedicated AMD Radeon 540 graphics card. The store that has put them in pre-sales is within the group Intel’s Platinum Technology Providers, so it can be taken as an official confirmation of the product and its specifications.
These computers are the first NUC to include a completely independent graphics card on its motherboard. The processor used in both is the Intel Core i3-8121U with 2 cores and 4 threads at 2.2 GHz with a maximum speed of 3.2 GHz, an L3 cache of 4MB and 15W of TDP. This processor is accompanied by the AMD Radeon 540 graphics card with 2GB of GDDR5 memory. These NUC Crimson Canyon have 4GB or 8GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM that is sealed to the motherboard. By default, we have a 1TB hard drive and the possibility of adding an M.2 2280 SSD.
The reason why this NUC needs a dedicated graphic is that Intel’s Cannon Lake processors do not currently have an integrated graphics card. They are manufactured in the process of 10 nm that is still in development by the company and have not yet been able to join both chips in one. This can be an advantage in the field of gaming since the Radeon 540 is better and more compatible than the integrated graphics of Intel.

The costs of this Mini PC is $575; shipments will begin in mid-September. The model NUC8i3CYSM contains 8GB of RAM and a hard disk with a capacity of 1TB. The price is $530; shipments will begin in late October. The modification of NUC8i3CYSN has 4GB of RAM and a 1TB hard drive.
