At the event dedicated to the presentation of the new flagship smartphone Mi 11, Xiaomi officially unveiled the new version of the firmware MIUI 12.5. Among the key changes are improved interface smoothness, the ability to remove almost all pre-installed applications, and advanced synchronization with personal computers.
The memory consumption of the main functions could be reduced by 20% and the power consumption of the system applications by an average of 25%. The package also includes new super wallpapers that show different mountains in real-time. More of these background images are to appear in the first half of 2021.
MIUI 12.5 will also improve data protection. This improves the protection of the clipboard so that only certain apps have access to it. Also new is that MIUI 12.5 is the first Android system to fully activate the sandbox function. Thus, accesses are shielded further and better.
For example, downloads from harmful websites and tracking can be blocked. The MIUI can also be run on the computer in the new version. Certainly only with your own laptops. This means that a website can, for example, be opened on a mobile phone on a laptop.
Xiaomi states that MIUI 12.5 is inspired by nature when designing its sounds and adds many natural sounds to the interface, from wind to animal sounds. Accordingly, you will be able to make the notification sound a bird chirp or your alarm a rustle of the wind.
The MIUI 12.5 will initially be distributed as a “closed beta”. In the first round, the following devices are included:
- Xiaomi Mi 10, Mi 10 Pro, 10 Ultra, and Mi 10 Youth Edition
- Redmi K30, K30 5G, K30 Pro 5G, K30i 5Gv, K30S Ultra and K30 Ultra
- Xiaomi Mi 9 and Mi 9 SE
- Xiaomi Mi CC9e and Mi CC9 Pro
- Redmi K20 and K20 Pro
- Redmi 10X 5G and 10X Pro 5G
- Redmi Note 9 5G
- Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro
For now, MIUI 12.5 is in beta ( as we mentioned above ) but it shouldn’t be many weeks before it arrives in a stable form.
