Design
The case of the Beelink SER3 (126x113x50) consists partly of metal with a matt finish, where I suspect a wrought aluminum alloy due to the weight (around 490 g), which certainly also ensures good heat transfer. At least I never felt the case to be hot and rarely warm, which could also have been due to the winter temperatures. The rest of the case is made of plastic. It would have been nice to keep the matte look here, since the front is the only area that attracts fingerprints and it is precisely this part that shines.
Hardware
To move the computer there is an AMD Ryzen 7 3750H processor, a quad-core CPU with 8 threads, and a maximum frequency of 4GHz. This is supported by 16GB of DDR4 RAM memory and 512GB NVMe SSDs. The whole is fully expandable. The RAM memory can be increased to 32GB thanks to the dual-channel configuration.
Features
At the front, we have a few ports like 2x USB 3.0, 1x USB-C, where I would have liked one at the back, a 3.5 mm jack, and the power button. At the back, there are three more mini ventilation shafts with more ports. A Gigabit RJ-45 LAN port, 2x USB 3.0, and 2x HDMI 2.0, which is especially great for dual-screen users. If you have three, you don’t have to do without it either, as the USB-C connection can be used for a third monitor, so that all three can even run smoothly with 4K 60 Hz if you are not gaming. Finally, of course, we have the power supply connector. So despite the mini format, we really have a lot of ports. More than some notebooks. The wireless connections include dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0. Basically, a real alternative to the desktop in an extremely small and versatile format.
Verdict
You just have to see what you want. Do-it-yourself or ready-made, compact or normal housing? If you tinker something yourself in a larger case, then you can certainly get more performance for the money and are also a little better positioned for the future. However, if you are looking for something compact, you are well on your way with such a box – if it is not supposed to be demanding to the game.
