GPD has taken to Twitter to announce the new XP PLUS Android handheld. The device was originally planned to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon G3x Gen1 handheld chip, but ended up using mediatek’s Dimensity 1200 solution, officials said.
Today, GPD has released a new version of its XP PLUS Android handheld, which it says runs on the Active Cooling Dimensity 1200 and Snapdragon 888.
As you can see above, in Geekbench’s core performance test, the XP PLUS’s Active Cooling Dimensity 1200 outperformed the Snapdragon 888.
In addition, the controller has been upgraded to include an innovative hall rocker design with no pole, super linear, dead zone and support for gravity sensing gyroscope, three-axis gravity sensing, three-axis gyroscope, and three-axis compass. XP Plus will support making and receiving incoming calls. It adopts three card slots, which can be double nano-SIM card, or nano-SIM + microSDXC card combination, supporting 4G full netcom [TD-LTE (mobile), FDD-LTE (Unicom, Telecom)].
In terms of interface, this upgrade of XP Plus is fully functional Type C, supporting up to 4K / 60Hz, DP 1.2 specification, and external display.

Mediatek Dimensity 1200, released in early 2021, using TSMC’s 6nm process and uses 1+3+4 flagship triplexus CPU design, including an Arm Cortex-A78 supercore with a dominant frequency up to 3.0GHz. It comes with a nine-core GPU and a six-core MediaTek APU 3.0.
GPD has yet to announce a release date for the console.
