Meizu has released its latest budget smartphone, Meizu M5s with 18W quick charge, so does this smartphone impress you? Meizu M5S is the upgraded version of Meizu M5, it is powered by MT6753 Octa core processor, coming with 5.2 inch HD screen with 1280 x 720 resolution, and Meizu M5S has RAM 3GB ROM 16GB,32GB, and it supports 18W quick charge, equipped with 3,000mAh battery. Today we will tear down Meizu M5S to check if it is worthwhile to buy.

Before tearing down it, just power off your phone first, take SIM card out.

Take the screws off, ready to separate the shell.

There is no FPC connection between the back cover and mainboard,  the antenna’s radiation and metal contacts are posted on the back shell, the mainboard and vice board are separated in common three steps. In the middle is large capacity lithium battery.

The mainboard layout is very neat, over blue PCB is covered with stents and shield.

The stent is connected by screw and mid-frame, the main goal is to fix screen and power and other FPC part, which is helpful to enhance drop resistance. Take the screw of fixed mainboard, and then take the cover on the battery FPC, and then power off first.

Take off battery FPC, and push the battery, it has 3,000mAh battery.

Before separating the mainboard, disconnect the screen FPC, button FPC on the side and antenna line on the right side. The main difference between Meizu M5S and Meizu M5 is in mainboard layout. The receiver and mainboard are connected by soft FPC. The glue is stuck to the upper of main camera, when you tear down, just be careful of unveiling this part of FPC.

The mainboard surface doesn’t use the plastic bracket, on the other side of other card slot, the chipset distributed very sparsely. Uncover the metal shield, find a MT6328V power management chip, which is the common configuration of Mediatek.

Turn to the other side of mainboard, Meizu M5S is powered by MT6753V processor, KMRX1000BM 32GB memory chip, and SKY77916-11, 77645-11 power rate amplifier chip. MT6753 is a low power consumption processor, the surface is not labeled  graphite heat sink.

Meizu M5S adopts 13MP main camera, PDAF focus function, F/2.2, it has 5MP front camera, F/2.0.

Next back off the vice board screw, remove the tail plug protective cover, we can find that the tail is integrated with mTouch FPC socket, connect the soft PFC socket of mainboard, the touch point of mainboard, touch point of speaker.

The tail plug removed, then we can see mTouch button, the fingerprint scanner parts of Meizu M5S are fixed by metal board and two screws.

The vice board part is simple, integrated with Micro-USB port, vibration motor, antenna contact, etc, no 3.5mm earphone port.

Speaker module uses metal contact and tail small connected. Meizu M5S adopts waterproof foam protection for main parts.

mTouch is integrated with fingerprint scanner, back button and back desktop.

    Conclusion

Meizu M5S has not hard tear down procedure, which is easy to maintain. Meanwhile, Meizu M5S has solid craftsmanship.
