Igeekphone reported on January 21st that the technology media MacRumors published a blog post yesterday (January 20th). Based on the current available clues and leaked information, it summarized the relevant information about Apple’s iPhone 17e and believed that Apple might release this phone through a press release in February.
Release date and pricing
Apple plans to launch iPhone 17e in the first half of 2026 (possibly in February).
Given that Apple released the iPhone 16e via a press release on February 19, 2025 (click here to purchase on the Apple website), this media believes that Apple will not hold a dedicated launch event for the iPhone 17e but will continue to adopt this low-key release approach.
In terms of price, Apple aims to consolidate its mid-range market share through high value for money. The iPhone 17e is expected to maintain a starting price of $599 (Note from Igeekphone: the domestic starting price is 4,499 yuan).
Appearance design and screen specifications
The iPhone 17e will retain a 6.1-inch display and a black-and-white dual-color body design, but there may be significant upgrades in the screen form factor.
Although there are rumors suggesting that it still retains the “brow” design, most reports indicate that this device will adopt the “Draped Island” design, thereby achieving a more modern visual experience and interaction functions.

However, to distinguish itself from the high-end product line, the iPhone 17e will continue to use a 60Hz refresh rate display, without supporting ProMotion adaptive refresh rate and Always-On Display features, and its screen brightness and HDR performance are inferior to those of the flagship models. Additionally, the bezels of the new device are expected to be further narrowed to enhance the screen-to-body ratio.
Core performance and network connection
This device will be equipped with an A19 chip based on the N3P 3nm process. However, considering costs and positioning, Apple is very likely to adopt a “reduced-frequency version” of A19 with fewer GPU cores (4 cores), resulting in slightly lower performance compared to the standard iPhone 17.
In terms of memory, the new model is expected to retain the 8GB RAM configuration.
At the network level, the iPhone 17e will be the first to feature Apple’s self-developed C1X baseband. Compared to the C1 baseband used in the previous generation, it has higher energy efficiency and a speed increase of approximately 2 times. However, due to cost control, the latest N1 Wi-Fi chip has not been equipped.
Function completeness and image parameters
In response to the pain point of the iPhone 16e lacking magnetic charging, the iPhone 17e will be compatible with MagSafe, supporting up to 15W wireless charging and a rich ecosystem of magnetic charging accessories.
In terms of camera, the new model still uses a single 48-megapixel wide-angle lens on the rear, and maintains a 12-megapixel specification for the front camera. It has not been upgraded to the 18-megapixel lens of the iPhone 17 series, and there is no information indicating that it will be equipped with a “camera control” button.
