iGEEKPHONE March 16th: According to sources, the engineering sample of Xiaomi 18 has achieved a significant leap in core specifications. Its battery capacity has exceeded 7000mAh, indicating that this device will have extremely strong battery life. At the same time, features such as ultrasonic fingerprint recognition, full-speed wireless charging, and full-level water resistance are all included in the flagship configuration.
In terms of the imaging system, the Xiaomi 18 has achieved a comprehensive leap compared to its predecessor. This device is equipped with a 2-billion-pixel ultra-large sensor main camera and a 2-billion-pixel telephoto lens. Compared to the 50-megapixel main camera + vertical telephoto lens combination of the Xiaomi 17, the Xiaomi 18 not only significantly increases the pixel count but also introduces a telephoto lens for the standard version for the first time.

Compared to the traditional vertical telephoto lens, the periscope-style telephoto structure is more complex and advanced. It ingeniously utilizes the principle of optical reflection, bending the light path through an internal mirror or prism. This design enables the light to form a longer focal length within the thin and lightweight body, thus achieving clearer photography at a greater distance.
Not only that, the telescopic structure can accommodate larger sensors with higher quality, and also incorporate more advanced image stabilization modules. This means that the image quality of the Xiaomi 18 in the telephoto range will be significantly improved. Not only will it be able to capture images from farther away, but the image quality stability and output rate will also reach the top level of the industry.
In terms of performance, the Xiaomi 18 series, following its usual practice, will be the first to launch the new generation of flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen6 platform. However, due to the extremely high manufacturing costs of the 2nm process, there are still some uncertainties regarding the final choice of the processor.

To balance cost and performance, the standard version of Xiaomi 18 may adopt the previous-generation platform Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5, or it may continue to use the latest Gen6 platform. This flexible strategy reflects the trade-off between top-notch technology and market price in the case of top-tier flagship devices.
No matter how the final processor makes its choice, the Xiaomi 18, with its 20-megapixel telephoto lens and 7000mAh ultra-large battery combination, has already demonstrated a strong competitive advantage.
