Igeekphone 3/26: According to Gizmochina on March 25, Xiaomi has officially stopped updating MIUI.
After the release of HyperOS, Xiaomi upgraded millions of devices to the new operating system, while many devices were added to the list of discontinued support.
However, in 2026, two overseas devices continued to receive MIUI updates – Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+. The operating system of these two devices was Android 13, and they continued to receive security patches and minor version updates. Their last update was the firmware version V14.0.44.0.TGOMIXM released in December 2025. The official website mentioned that support would be discontinued on March 24, 2026.
Now, both devices have officially stopped all types of software updates, marking the complete discontinuation of the traditional MIUI.
MIUI was actually the first product of Xiaomi. It was released earlier than any of Xiaomi’s hardware products. It was first launched in August 2010 and was based on the Android 2.2 Froyo system. The early versions of MIUI were distributed as custom ROMs for third-party Android phones.
On October 17, 2023, Xiaomi announced the new operating system, Xiaomi HyperOS, and gradually replaced MIUI.
