Igeekphone News, April 27: Foxconn has begun the trial production of Apple’s first foldable phone, iPhone Fold. This highly anticipated flagship product is expected to make its official debut in the autumn, marking that Apple has officially entered the foldable screen era.
As Apple’s first foldable flagship device, iPhone Fold has made a significant breakthrough in industrial design. Its thickness on one side is only 4.7 millimeters, making it the thinnest mobile device in Apple’s history. Even in the folded state, its thickness of 9.2 millimeters is almost the same as that of a regular iPhone flagship model.

In an effort to achieve an ultra-thin body, Apple made certain trade-offs in the design. This model has dispensed with the iconic Face ID facial recognition feature and instead adopted a side-fingerprint recognition system, and has also removed the Magsafe wireless charging coil to minimize the internal space.
In terms of imaging, the iPhone Fold is equipped with a 48-megapixel main camera and a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens on its rear. To maintain the slim and lightweight feel of the entire device, this model does not feature a large-volume telephoto lens.

In terms of hardware configuration, iPhone Fold has achieved several milestone upgrades. It is equipped with an ultra-large battery with a capacity exceeding 5000 milliampere-hours, setting a new record for the battery capacity of the iPhone series. In terms of the system, it will pre-install iOS 27 and adopts a UI layout similar to that of the iPad.
Thanks to the advantages of the foldable screen, the new system will support the side-by-side split-screen operation of two applications. This feature significantly improves the efficiency of multitasking, making the iPhone Fold more similar to a tablet in terms of productivity and providing users with a more efficient mobile experience.

In terms of pricing, this new foldable screen device still maintains the top level. Its overseas price is approximately $2,000, and the starting price of the domestic version is expected to be between 14,000 and 15,000 yuan. The top-of-the-line version is more likely to exceed the 20,000-yuan mark, becoming the most expensive model in the iPhone product line.
