50K vs 70K vs 100K Disposable Vapes: What Do the Puff Ratings Mean?

Brady CottonBy Brady CottonSeptember 22, 2026
Facebook Twitter Pinterest LinkedIn Tumblr Email

The numbers printed on high-capacity vape devices have become increasingly large. A 50K vape can advertise up to 50,000 puffs, while newer devices may be marketed at 70K, 100K, or even higher ratings. At first glance, the difference seems simple: a 100K device should provide twice as many puffs as a 50K model.

In practice, the comparison is not quite that straightforward.

A puff rating is a manufacturer’s stated maximum or estimated number of draws under particular testing conditions. It is not a universal measurement that guarantees every user will receive exactly 50,000, 70,000, or 100,000 draws. Actual results can change with draw length, frequency of use, power mode, airflow, coil configuration, battery performance, and the amount of e-liquid available.

So, what really separates a 50K disposable vape from a 70K or 100K model? More importantly, does a higher number automatically mean a device will last longer in everyday use?

Here is what the different puff classes actually tell you.

    What Does “50K,” “70K,” or “100K” Mean?

    The “K” stands for thousand.

    Therefore:

    • 50K = up to 50,000 advertised puffs
    • 70K = up to 70,000 advertised puffs
    • 100K = up to 100,000 advertised puffs

These figures should be treated as product ratings rather than precise promises.

For example, RAZ currently describes its VUE 70K system as offering 70,000 puffs across its pods, while its reusable battery base can be recharged through USB-C. The company also specifies different operating modes, showing why the headline puff number is only one part of the product specification.

The same principle applies to 100K products. Current 100K listings describe the figure as an “up to” rating and recommend looking at the complete device design, including liquid capacity, battery and flavor configuration, rather than treating the puff number as a guaranteed count.

Why the Advertised Puff Count Is Not a Guaranteed Number

A puff is not the same length for every person.

One user might take a short draw, while another may take a longer inhale. A longer draw generally uses more e-liquid per activation than a shorter one, which can reduce the number of draws available from the same reservoir.

Operating mode can also make a difference. Some high-capacity devices provide Normal, Boost, Turbo, or similar modes. Higher-output modes can trade some potential longevity for a different vaping experience. Current 50K products, for example, are commonly advertised with a higher puff figure in Normal mode and a lower figure in Boost or Turbo mode.

This means that a device labeled “50K” should not automatically be interpreted as delivering exactly 50,000 identical puffs to every user.

Think of the number as a capacity class, not a stopwatch.

    50K vs 70K vs 100K: What Changes?

The biggest difference is the intended capacity of the device, but increasing the puff rating usually requires other hardware considerations as well.

    Feature 50K Class 70K Class 100K Class
Advertised puff rating Up to 50,000 Up to 70,000 Up to 100,000
    Intended use High-capacity Very high-capacity Ultra-high-capacity
Battery Usually rechargeable Usually rechargeable Usually rechargeable
E-liquid capacity Varies by model Varies by model Varies widely
Power modes Common on many models Common on many models Common on many models
Display Depends on model Depends on model Depends on model
Actual lifespan Depends on usage Depends on usage Depends on usage

The table highlights an important point: the puff rating alone does not tell you the complete hardware specification.

Two devices with the same advertised puff count can have very different batteries, liquid capacities, coil systems, airflow designs and controls.

    50K Vapes: A Major High-Capacity Category

50K devices have become a common reference point for high-capacity rechargeable vape products.

Many current models combine a relatively large e-liquid reservoir with a rechargeable battery, mesh heating technology, USB-C charging and some form of battery or e-liquid display. For example, current 50K product listings include configurations with around 20ml of pre-filled e-liquid, rechargeable batteries, dual-mesh coils, adjustable airflow and multiple power modes.

The advantage of the 50K class is that it provides a substantial advertised capacity without necessarily requiring the largest device architecture available.

However, users should still check the individual specifications. “50K” does not mean every 50K device contains the same amount of e-liquid or uses the same battery.

70K Vapes: More Capacity, But Not Simply “40% Better”

A 70K rating sits between the 50K and 100K classes.

On paper, 70,000 is 40% higher than 50,000. But that does not mean a 70K vape will necessarily last 40% longer for an individual user.

    Why?

Because real-world longevity depends on how the device is used.

A person taking longer draws on a higher-power mode can consume considerably more e-liquid than someone taking short draws in a lower-power mode. Battery efficiency, coil design and the way the manufacturer calculates the puff rating can also affect the result.

The RAZ VUE range illustrates another important development in this category: some high-puff devices are moving away from the traditional all-in-one disposable format and using a reusable battery base with replaceable pods. The VUE 50K, for example, separates its rechargeable battery base from the pre-filled pod.

That kind of architecture makes the system design just as important as the number on the package.

100K Vapes: The Biggest Number Does Not Tell the Whole Story

100K is an even larger advertised capacity, but the same principle applies.

A 100K label does not mean that every user will take 100,000 full-length draws from the device.

When evaluating a 100K product, look beyond the headline figure and check:

    • E-liquid capacity
    • Battery capacity
    • Charging system
    • Coil technology
    • Power modes
    • Airflow adjustment
    • Display information
    • Pod or tank design
    • Whether the stated puff count applies to a particular mode

Some 100K products also use multiple tanks or flavor paths. That means two devices with the same 100K rating can have very different internal designs and user experiences. Current 100K product listings specifically note that single-flavor and multi-flavor configurations can divide liquid capacity and flavor selection in different ways.

Does a Higher Puff Rating Mean a Longer-Lasting Vape?

    Not necessarily.

It indicates a higher advertised capacity, but actual longevity depends on how the device is used.

    Consider two hypothetical users:

    User A

    • Shorter draws
    • Lower-power mode
    • Moderate usage
    • Consistent charging

    User B

    • Longer draws
    • Higher-power mode
    • Frequent usage
    • More open airflow

Even if both users have the same 70K device, their actual experience can be very different.

This is why it is better to treat 50K, 70K and 100K as capacity categories rather than exact predictions of how many days a device will last.

    Battery Capacity Matters

A high puff rating is only useful if the device has enough power to support its intended operating life.

Rechargeable high-capacity devices commonly use USB-C charging, allowing the battery to be replenished instead of relying on a single charge. Current examples include 50K products with rechargeable batteries and USB-C ports.

But battery capacity should still be considered alongside the rest of the hardware.

A larger battery can provide more available energy, but it does not automatically translate into more puffs if the device also operates at higher power.

For this reason, comparing battery capacity + e-liquid capacity + operating modes is more informative than looking at the puff number alone.

E-Liquid Capacity Is Just as Important

The puff rating and e-liquid capacity are closely connected.

A device needs sufficient e-liquid to generate a large number of draws. Current 50K products, for example, can be built around reservoirs in the 20ml range, although specifications vary significantly between models.

    When comparing products, ask:

How much e-liquid does the device actually contain?

A higher puff rating paired with a larger liquid capacity may indicate a different hardware strategy from a device that achieves a similar advertised rating through another design.

This is particularly important when comparing products from different manufacturers.

Coil Design Can Affect the Experience

Mesh coils are widely used in high-capacity vape products because they provide a large heating surface and are commonly paired with devices designed for sustained use.

Some products use dual-mesh configurations. For example, current 50K listings include devices using dual-mesh coils alongside adjustable airflow and multiple power modes.

However, coil type should not be interpreted as a direct guarantee of a specific puff count.

The coil, power output, airflow and e-liquid delivery system all work together.

    Normal Mode vs Boost Mode

This is one of the easiest details to overlook when comparing puff numbers.

    A product might advertise:

    50,000 puffs in Normal Mode

but offer a lower rating in:

    Boost Mode

That does not necessarily indicate a problem with the device. Higher output can consume more e-liquid and battery power per draw.

For example, some current 50K products advertise approximately 50,000 puffs in their standard mode and around 30,000 in Boost mode.

Therefore, when comparing a 50K device with a 70K or 100K model, make sure the advertised figures are based on comparable operating conditions.

What Should You Compare Instead of Puff Count?

If you are comparing high-capacity disposable or pod-style vape devices, consider these specifications together:

    1. E-Liquid Capacity

A larger advertised puff count should be considered alongside the amount of e-liquid available.

    2. Battery Capacity

Check whether the battery is rechargeable and how it is charged.

    3. Coil Configuration

Look for the heating technology used by the device, including single or dual-mesh configurations where specified.

    4. Power Modes

Normal, Boost and Turbo modes can change power consumption and the advertised puff rating.

    5. Airflow

Adjustable airflow can change the draw characteristics and vapor production.

    6. Display

Some high-capacity devices provide battery, e-liquid, mode or puff information through a screen.

    7. Pod or Tank Architecture

A traditional integrated design is different from a device with a replaceable pod or reusable battery base.

    8. Actual Product Specifications

Always check the manufacturer’s or seller’s specifications for the exact model rather than assuming every product in the same puff category is identical.

50K, 70K or 100K: Which Number Should You Pay Attention To?

The answer depends on what you are trying to understand.

If you want to compare advertised capacity, the numbers provide a quick way to separate different product classes.

If you want to estimate real-world longevity, the puff number alone is not enough.

If you want to compare hardware, look at the battery, e-liquid capacity, coil, airflow, power modes and pod design.

And if you are comparing two devices with similar advertised puff ratings, those hardware differences may be much more meaningful than the difference between the numbers on the box.

    The Bottom Line

The move from 50K to 70K and 100K puff ratings shows how high-capacity vape hardware has evolved, but a bigger number should not be treated as a guaranteed number of real-world draws.

A 50K device is marketed for up to 50,000 puffs, a 70K model for up to 70,000, and a 100K model for up to 100,000. These are manufacturer-rated figures, and actual results vary according to factors such as draw length, usage frequency, operating mode and device configuration.

The more useful way to compare high-capacity devices is to look at the entire system: puff rating, e-liquid capacity, battery, coil, airflow, power modes and pod design.

In other words, 50K vs 70K vs 100K is not simply a bigger-number competition. The hardware behind the number matters just as much.

    Nicotine Warning

Nicotine is addictive. Vape products containing nicotine are intended only for adults of legal purchasing age in markets where their sale and use are permitted. Always check local regulations and follow the manufacturer’s instructions for charging, storage and use.
