Although LG has OLED screen, the production is not so large, many smartphone manufacturers have decided to use Samsung screen, even Apple has also chosen them. After all they have accounted for 90% OLED screen market share.
Yesterday Korean media has leaked the news that Xiaomi and Samsung have signed the agreement secretly that Samsung will offer Xiaomi 6.01 inch OLED screen, the availability time will be December, 2017, the first batch of stock will be 1 million, and then in January, 2017, the stock will be 2.2 millions.
So which phone will use such screen? According to other media, it should be the upgraded version of Xiaomi MI6, Xiaomi MI7, using Samsung screen instead of LG, due to OLED screen production. Xiaomi next flagship is planning to use 5.49 inch LG OLED display, but it is lack of stock due to production, so Xiaomi finally chooses Samsung. Because currently Samsung OLED screen has big needs, Xiaomi has to place order in advance to keep enough stock for its screen.
Meanwhile, the product line inside leaks Xiaomi MI7 will use 6 inch Samsung screen with very narrow forehead and chin, and it uses bezel-less frame, so the screen to body ratio will be improved largely.
For Xiaomi, next year will be their developing one, because Lei Jun has made promise that Xiaomi smartphones will sell 0.1 billion units as next year’s goal, which means they will have different kinds of smartphone, and enough stock, but screen, camera, processor are the most popular ones in shortage.
