The WeChip V5 is a new Chinese TV Box that is trying to make it to an already crowded market of cheap Android TV Boxes. First off, I heard good things about WeChip. I was surprised there aren’t many reviews on this box. But, let me be the first to say that this box is worth the purchase. It may not be the fastest but it gets the job done far as for watch movies and TV show. It great playing music. It also played the retro games with no hiccup. If you’re looking for a budget box to purchase don’t sleep on this smart TV Box.
Design
On the left side of the device, there is a slot for an SD card and one of the two USB Ports. Since the box is running Android 6.0.1 we can easily install an SD card as internal storage. On the back, we have the 2nd USB port, the port for the power adapter, HDMI & AV out and the Optical Audio. DTS & Dolby Digital sound works great with KODI.
Hardware
The Wechip V5 is powered by the Amlogic S905X CPU paired with 2GB of Ram and 16GB of Internal Storage. There is also Android 6.0.1 running on this device. This TV Box is trying to be different by having a cool looking LED light at the front. (see review video below) This light can be controlled by the remote control that comes with it.
Features
Software-wise, as I mentioned before we have Android 6.0.1 running on it with a custom launcher. Software optimization is average and I have seen other tv boxes with the same CPU that seem to be a bit faster. The Google Play Store, Netflix, Modero are among many applications that come pre-installed.
