While being interviewed recently Xiaomi co-founder and Senior Vice-President, Liwan Jiang reaffirmed the commitment for Xiaomi’s plans to released a cost effective high end device this year. The Co-founder also stated that Xiaomi’s plan to release high end products throughout the second half of 2016, is still proceeding as planned, including launching a high-end smartphone. He also hinted at a possible brand name change for the high-end device. This is a risky strategy given Xiaomi’s brand is synonymous with their quality of their smartphones. Xiaomi have set down a news conference for August, where it is expected all will be revealed, particularly all details about the new High end device. It is also expected that this press conference will also be used as a launch pad for the release of Mi Note 2, which has been anticipated for a long time now.Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon 821 processor is expected to be the engine room of the Mi Note 2 and it is expected to come with , 4GB / 6GB RAM options and a 5.7-inch screen. We also expect a fingerprint sensor, dual camera setup and loads more, we are only guessing what the price will be but it is expected that the Mi Note 2 base model will come in at around $450. We can only await the announcement of what other high end products Xiaomi have in store for us, being that Xiaomi are venturing into a wide variety of markets, including household goods.
