MGCOOL band 4 SmartBand Real Fitness Tracker Full Review

With the sports watch MGCOOL Band 4 you can keep track of the improvements achieved thanks to your workouts. This sports watch features a wide range of smart health and fitness features that will help you achieve your fitness goals. This watch has been made with soft TPU material which makes it comfortable to wear. Also, it’s waterproof, so you do not have to worry about accidentally getting wet.

Many people now have an intelligent bracelet. Why have these gadgets become so popular? Because they are small, they have a sporty look and offer many useful functions from day to day. While the Xiaomi Mi Band 2 smart bracelet has been on the podium for a long time because no other device has managed to beat it, now MGCOOL Band 4 tries to win this challenge. The previous models were not very successful, but let’s see what happens with this new release of MGCOOL. If you want to know more about our opinion About it, keep reading our full review!

The MGCOOL smartband comes in a very simple black cardboard box with the logo of the company. Inside is only the smart band and an instruction manual. However, you do not need anything more, since the tape is charged via a built-in USB connector.

    Design

At first glance, the band 4 of MGCOOL reminiscent of a mix of the Mi Band 2 and the Makibes G03. This is because the 0.96 “OLED display stands out very much, but the actual fitness tracker, as in the case of volume 2, can be removed from the wristband. The size of the display allows a simultaneous display of the time, the day of the week, the number of steps, the date, the Bluetooth connection and the battery level. The Fitness Tracker (including band) is a total of 25.5 cm long, 2.2 cm wide and 1.12 cm thick. As a result, he brings 26.3 g on the scales. This confirms the assumption that it is a mix of both fitness bracelets.

By specifying the time and date, you can wear the MGCOOL Band 4 Fitness Tracker simply as a watch replacement. Practical is that both watch faces with the analog and digital clock are available. Less convenient is that the watch face is changed by long pressing the button. If one rolls over his arms and presses the button for a long time, the menu for changing the watch faces open. A problem that happened to me in everyday life too often and would be solved with an app control. It gets very ugly, for example, if you reach 1000 steps and the numbers no longer fit into the line. Smaller digits would have been sufficient here and should actually be noticed in the development.

    Features & Functions

    Home Screens

By specifying the time and date, you can wear the MGCOOL Band 4 Fitness Tracker simply as a watch replacement. Practical is that both watch faces with the analog and digital clock are available. Less convenient is that the watchface is changed by long pressing the button.

    Notification

Another practical feature in everyday life is the notification function. If you have an active Bluetooth connection to your smartphone, you will be notified of incoming messages & calls. So the pure notification by vibration works well, the possibility to display messages is not optimal. Since the display is quite small, most messages cannot be displayed correctly. In addition, it must be navigated to a specific menu item on the tape, so the handle is simply faster to the smartphone.

    Pedometer & Heart Rate Monitor

If you want to exploit the full potential, there are clearly several options. The many different menu items can be reached by pressing the button. Since there is a heart rate monitor on the underside of the tracker, continuous pulse measurement is possible. The pulse can be read off the tape and every 5 minutes a value is transferred to the app. In addition, there is, of course, a pedometer, probably the most popular feature in these gadgets.

    Sleep Monitor

If you want to rest from your efforts, the bracelet also tracks sleep. There, the built-in G-sensor and the pulse measurement are used, which recognize whether and how you sleep. Most of the time the tape recognizes, even if you fall asleep. Sometimes, however, there are small deviations at the time of falling asleep. Incidentally, the G-sensor also allows the wake-up feature, which turns the display on as soon as you turn your arm to look at it. Again, the function is not very mature and I’ve often seen my wrist shake because the display was not on.

    Stopwatch

There is not much to say about the stopwatch. You switch to the option and can then start the stopwatch. A long press with stopped stopwatch resets the time. Another feature that is possible directly on the tape is the ability to search your smartphone. If you activate it, your phone will start to ring. Handy for those who often lose their mobile phone.

    Connectivity

To access all functions, you should connect your tracker with the associated app. This is the WearFit 2.0 app for which Android 4.4 or iOS 8.0 and up is the minimum requirement. With Bluetooth 4.0, you can connect to the smartphone. If the smartphone is successfully connected, the tape vibrates briefly and shows a Bluetooth symbol on the display. First, not a big problem, but a helpful notification. But if you go just outside the range, so that there is only a weak connection, the band vibrates without pause. Yet another point that causes unnecessary frustration.

Fortunately, if you want to recharge the built-in 90 mAh battery inside the tracker, you are not dependent on an extra USB cable. the USB port is located on the tracker and can thus be plugged directly into a suitable USB port.

    WearFit 2.0 App

To access many of the features you need to connect the smart bracelet to the app. In the case of the MGCOOL Band 4, the app presents an elegant and modern design. A point in favor is the possibility of integrating Apple’s Apple App on iOS and Google Fit on Android. The only flaw of the application is the combination with the smart band itself. During my test, I detected connection difficulties from the beginning because the smart band was connected but the data was not synchronized. This problem was solved by removing the connection and reconnecting the bracelet to the phone. There are many possibilities to analyze the data in the WearFit 2.0 application. You can create tables with daily, weekly and monthly data. In addition, the application calculates a depletion value. However, I believe that it is not a representative value, but that it is measured on the basis of the steps taken. The “search smartphone” function is also present in the application. Since the smart band does not have a speaker, vibration is used. Finally, the smart band offers the possibility to start the camera and take pictures with an arm movement.

    Verdict & Conclusion

The MGCOOL Band 4 Fitness Tracker sounded pretty good overall, but in the test, the band is weakening at almost every corner. So there are problems with some features and even the essential connection with the smartphone is not mature. Simple things like the size of the digits on the display, but are simply things you can not afford with the current competition. if you are interested to buy this amazing fitness tracker so the MGCOOL Band 4 Fitness Tracker is now available on Gearbest just at $18.99 using Coupon Code: MGCOOL.
