Xiaomi is prepping up to launch the Redmi Note 5 in China. It will be the very same handset that was launched in India as Redmi Note 5 Pro in India in the previous month. Today, the Chinese manufacturer has released a new teaser that confirms that the Snapdragon 636 chipset will be powering the phone along with 6 GB of RAM.
The Snapdragon 636 chipset is said to be as powerful as Snapdragon 820 SoC that powered flagship phones from 2016. The Redmi Note 5 is the first smartphone ever to feature the Snapdragon 636 chipset. It is speculated that Xiaomi may use the same SoC to power its forthcoming phones. The newly unveiled Asus ZenFone 5 also features the SD636 chipset. The Redmi Note 5 will also become the first Redmi Note series phone to come with 6 GB of RAM.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is confirmed to debut in China on March 16. It will be sporting a metallic chassis and coming with an 18:9 aspect ratio screen of 5.99 inches. The display will carry support for FHD+ resolution. The handset will be fueled by 4,000mAh battery. It is expected to arrive with selfie flash enable 20-megapixel front camera. It is speculated that vertical dual rear cameras of the Redmi Note 5 will be different from Pro variant that is available in India.
The 4 GB and 6 GB RAM versions of the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is selling in India for Rs. 13,999 (1,400 Yuan) and Rs. 16,999 (1,700 Yuan). In China, it may arrive with similar pricing, but it won’t be too expensive.
