Igeekphone News, December 15th: According to the South Korean media Dealsite’s report today, Apple will launch the iPhone 20 in 2027, skipping the name iPhone 19 directly to pay tribute to the 20th anniversary of the first-generation iPhone.
It is reported that this mobile phone is expected to be released in the third quarter of 2027, featuring a “true full-screen” design with no visible openings on the front of the body.
The latest news indicates that Apple may take it a step further and adopt a four-curved curved design for the iPhone 20. All four corners of the body are bent, meaning that the panel circuits originally located in the frame area need to be bent as well, which is fundamentally different from the current industry solutions.

At the same time, Apple also needs to improve the thin-film packaging technology (TFE) that prevents OLED panels from getting damp, making this layer of film thinner. Moreover, it has to place components such as the front camera and truedepth camera under the screen to achieve a “true full-screen” design.
Industry insiders disclosed that LG Display has recently begun to prepare mass production panels for the iPhone 20 and is placing orders with some equipment manufacturers. IT is also rumored in the market that LG Display will invest 400 billion won in the research and development of this mobile phone. (Note: Igeekphone) The current exchange rate is approximately 1.917 billion yuan.
Due to the significant differences between the “four-curved folding screen” and the existing manufacturing process, LG Display needs to make major adjustments to its production line. There are also reports in the market that LG Display has obtained more than ten production line quotas from Apple. At the same time, as early as 2023, Apple asked Samsung and LG Display to develop panel technology for true full-screen iphones.

Compared with LG Display’s aggressive layout, Samsung’s layout for the iPhone 20 is relatively low-key. An industry insider said, “It’s almost unheard of among device manufacturers that Samsung has invested in the iPhone 20. Although it’s not clear whether there is an investment or not, the overall impression given by Samsung is that it is quite conservative.”
Industry analysts believe that Samsung’s cautious attitude is mainly due to the consideration of exclusively supplying the iPhone Fold panel.
