Asus has already confirmed that the second generation of its gaming smartphone, RoG Phone 2, will arrive next month, but now the Digitimes website in Taiwan has given us a day for that to happen: July 23. According to the publication, the manufacturer will hold an event and will launch the device in China in partnership with Tencent Games, which develops the popular PUBG Mobile.
According to the Phone Radar, the date was not chosen at random: the launch event is expected to take place a few days before Chinajoy, China’s largest gaming fair, which will take place between August 2-5. With that, it may be that Asus also takes the smartphone to the exhibition.
As long as we’ve been waiting for RoG Phone 2 since last year, Asus still has not given much information about its new smartphone gamer. In a publication made in partnership with Tencent Games, however, the manufacturer has confirmed that the device will feature a display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, which ensures more fluid images during the gameplay.
In addition, the device is expected to have software that enhances the gameplay experience with Tencent games, after all, the two companies are working together on the smartphone, at least in the Chinese market. Regarding hardware, the device should come with the powerful Snapdragon 855, the top-of-the-line processor from Qualcomm, and versions with up to 12GB of RAM.
According to Phone Arena, the device can be launched in two variants, with the cheapest edition coming out for an approximate value of $635. If the device follows the standards of its predecessor, Asus must also present a series of accessories along with RoG Phone 2.
The first generation RoG Phone was introduced at Computex last year and hit the market with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 90 Hz display and 4000mAh battery. In China, the device was sold in variants that came to cost almost $800 at the time. More information on the launch of RoG Phone 2 should be revealed soon by Asus.
