Asus ROG Phone 6 / Pro Phone Starts to Push Android 13 Overseas

Asus’s high-end gaming phones, ROG Phone 6 and the ROG Phone 6 Pro, launched in July last year, are getting a new boost with Android 13 updates. The phones are powered by a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip.

Previously, Asus’ non-gaming phones, the Zenfone 9, Zenfone 8 and Zenfone 8 Flip, have all received the Android 13 update, in line with the company’s update schedule promise announced in November. The Zenfone 9 got its first taste of Android 13 in December, followed by its predecessor in mid-January and the ROG Phone line in February.

The new firmware update brings the Android 13 update to version 33.0610.2810.72. It could take a few days to cover all devices. In the meantime, users can check the new software manually by going to Settings > System > System Update.

If you want to go back to Android 12, you’ll need to delete all your data, so IT’s best to back it up before you upgrade to Android 13, just in case, It Home warns.

    Here is the update log:

    Upgrade to Android 13

Introduced a new ROG UI design

Improved phone manager, contacts, telephones, emergency dialer, file manager, calculator, clock, Gallery, weather, recorder, Settings, data transfer, Local backup, Armoury Crate, Game Wizard, and more.

The Quick Settings panel, notification tray, and volume panel have been adjusted to match Android 13’s design.

Added the notification permission function. The permissions for each application can be adjusted in the application and notification Settings.

System clipboard added automatic deletion and editing functions.

Added a QR code scanner option to the lock screen shortcut feature, and added a slave lock device control to the security and lock screen Settings.

With the Digital Wellbeing setting, the system colour scheme can be set to switch automatically according to bedtime options.

    Added application language Settings.

Adjusted the vibration and tactile intensity Settings, display and font size Settings, and the width/length of the navigation white bar when selecting gesture navigation.

Change the blocking number Settings on the phone to default. Users will not receive calls or text messages from blocked numbers.

The call time Settings were deleted.

Added theme icon options to wallpaper and style Settings. Support for more color combinations.

Added link quick sharing in ASUS Launcher.

Tweaked the dial and contact details page design in the phone application to display information more clearly.

Some third-party apps are not compatible with Android 13.

Added Asus customization preferences. Allows a collection of commonly used custom Settings to be applied with one click.

Removed the “Calm” and “Elegant” options from the Power Button menu style Settings.

Added display item management options that allow users to control the number of buttons in the menu.
