Budget Vs. Premium Smartphones – Does It Matter?

Brady CottonBy Brady CottonSeptember 1, 2020

Smartphones can range in price from under £100 to up to well over £1,000, but price does not necessarily mean everything. It completely depends on what you want to get out of your smartphone and how much you are planning to use it.

    Knowing Your Budget

The best place to start when looking for a smartphone is knowing your budget. If you know a maximum amount (and potentially a minimum amount) you are looking to spend on a smartphone, then it will become much easier to narrow down your options. Be realistic about how much you are looking to spend. On the one hand, there is no point in buying an expensive smartphone if you are just going to use it to call and text – it is probably better to go for a cheaper option with not as many functions. On the other hand, a smartphone for many people is quite an important investment. After all, it is a key item that you bring essentially everywhere with you, so it is important that your smartphone suits your wants and needs.

Criteria to Consider When Looking for a Smartphone

It is good to work out what your priorities are before buying a smartphone. For example, do you want a smartphone with a good camera? Are you in need of a smartphone with long battery life if you know that you will be using it a lot during the day? Do you need a smartphone with a large screen so you can use it for games and watching films? Or would you prefer a smaller smartphone that could easily fit in a small handbag or pocket? These are all the kinds of questions you need to ask yourself before splashing out. There is no one answer to any of these questions and, ultimately, it cannot be said whether a budget or premium smartphone is ‘better’ since this is entirely subjective.

    Thinking About Smartphone Brands

If you do not know much about technology, you may not know about the wide variety of brands out there, aside from the few most ‘well known’ brands. The TCL 10 Pro UK is a great option if you are looking to spend between £300 to £400 on a quality smartphone. This particular smartphone has an impressive camera that produces great pictures and its large screen with amazing colour resolution makes it great to play games or watch films on. For a very reasonable price, the 10 Pro has everything you would want or need from a mid-budget smartphone.

It is definitely worth looking at some reviews for smartphones before purchasing or even asking around your friends and family to see what kinds of smartphones they have. Popping into a store to have a play on some of the smartphones is also a great way to make your decision – this way, you are able to test out a phone and decide if you like using it before making a commitment.
