Although smartphones dedicated to gaming are not renowned for their ergonomics, Black Shark 4 Pro maintains a rather compact body: it measures 163.83 x 76.35 x 9.9 mm and weighs only 220 grams. Its display is an E4 AMOLED Full HD + (2400 x 1080 pixels), with a 6.67-inch diagonal, HDR10 +, 144Hz refresh rate, and touch sampling rate up to 720Hz. Despite a panel of this type, which would allow the fingerprint sensor to be integrated under the screen, the company has still decided to place it laterally.
Black Shark 4 Pro adopts Qualcomm’s top-of-the-range processor from 2021, the Snapdragon 888, which allows it to keep the price low and, at the same time, offer high-level performance. To ensure smooth multitasking and ample storage space, Xiaomi has opted for two memory configurations: 8 and 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, with 128 and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 internal memory respectively.
On the other hand, the 4500 mAh battery takes care of the discreet autonomy, which recharges very quickly thanks to the 120 Watt HyperCharge technology. In fact, it is possible to reach 100% in just 15 minutes. Everything is accompanied by a “Sandwich” liquid cooling system, which allows you to dissipate heat even more effectively during the most intense gaming sessions and reduce the CPU temperature by 18 degrees. As for connectivity, there is no need to fear interruptions either at home or outdoors, thanks to WiFi 6E, 5G, and antenna with an X design, specially designed to never be obstructed by the hands.
Moving on to the photographic sector, Black Shark 4 Pro relies on a triple camera consisting of a primary sensor from 64MP, 8MP wide-angle, and 5MP macro. On the display, on the other hand, there is the 20MP selfie camera. For an optimal gaming experience, the device makes use of mechanical magnetic lift triggers arranged along the edges, which offer precise controls and are customizable. We had already liked the solution on the Black Shark 3 Pro, but the buttons have been further improved in haptic feedback. Furthermore, when not in use, a simple click is enough to make them disappear inside the frame.
To make everything even more immersive there are the Shark Eye RGB lighting effects and the double symmetrical speakers with the super-wide sound chamber, which allowed Black Shark 4 Pro to earn the first position of the DxOMark charts in terms of audio. The contribution of the software cannot be missing, with the operating system dedicated to gaming based on MIUI 12.5 which takes the name of JoyUI 12.5. Finally, to improve network settings, increase performance, silence notifications, and much more, Shark Space 4.0 intervenes.
