Igeekphone reported on January 28th that the technology media 9to5Google posted a blog post yesterday (January 27th) stating that in the error report for the incognito mode of Chrome browser on Google Chromium Issue Tracker, the accompanying video accidentally leaked the entire layout of the Android desktop interface.
Based on the video description, the demonstration device is an HP Elite Dragonfly 13.5 Chromebook equipped with the 12th generation Intel Core processor. The system build version number is “ZL1A.260119.001.A1”, and it is confirmed that this system is based on Android 16. This version is internally referred to as “ALOS”, which is the abbreviation of “Aluminum OS”.
Compared with the existing tablet mode or mobile screen projection mode, the new Android desktop layout logic has been optimized for large screens. The top left side displays detailed time and date with seconds; on the right side, there are arranged the battery icons, Wi-Fi signal, notification bell, and input method language identifiers (such as “EN”) in the style of Android 16.
In addition, a Gemini icon also appears in the status bar, indicating that Google’s AI assistant will be integrated deeply into the desktop experience as a core system-level function.
Regarding the browser, this Android desktop runs Chrome version 145.0.7587.4 (before upgrade) and 146.0.7634.0 (after upgrade) from the Dev channel. The interface displays the “Extensions” button, indicating that it supports a complete plugin ecosystem.
