How to create the perfect logo for Instagram

The social network instagram has over a billion active users. An impressive figure, isn’t it? Most of the people you know are probably registered on it. Instagram is not only an entertainment platform, it’s also a great place to do business. Since there are a huge number of potential customers in this network, it is advisable for you to have a page in it as well.

All well-known brands have their own personal page in this social network, conduct advertising campaigns through it and promote their products or services.

Instagram is great for promoting all kinds of goods and services. Many entrepreneurs manage to earn only from sales through this platform, being unrepresented on other platforms and not having their own website.

But to create a successful online shop on Instagram, you need to get it right. The key design element of any Instagram page is the profile picture. It appears next to the username in the search box and at the top of the profile itself.

If you represent an online shop or promote your services through Instagram, it’s a big plus to have a logo to adorn your profile. It’s a great way to make your profile stand out from the countless competition.

In this article, we’ll look at how to make a logo for instagram, what you need to consider and what you shouldn’t do when designing one.

If you are interested in having a logo designed by a professional designer, you can find out the cost and order the logo on the respective service page by clicking on the button below:

So how do you make a logo for instagram? The process of designing a logo for instagram is similar to any other logo design and consists of several steps:

    Step 1

Making a logo always starts with positioning yourself or your company. You need to be clear about what you are as a brand, what your goals are, what your mission is.

    Step 2

The second step is to analyse your competitors. Before you create a logo, you need to carefully analyse your competitors. What logos do they use? What style are they presented in? What colour palette?

This will help you avoid any overlap of your logo with any other and create a unique logo that accurately conveys your brand message.

    Step 3

Next, search for as much material online as possible related to your field. Create an inspiration board, bringing all the collected material together in one place.

    Step 4

In step four, come up with a logo by brainstorming. We looked at how to come up with a company logo in this article.

    Step 5

After coming up with several suitable ideas for the future logo, you choose the most promising one and make a pencil sketch of the logo.

    Step 6

In the last step, you should draw the logo for Instagram in Adobe illustrator, following the rules discussed later in this article.

Basic requirements for the logo for instagram

    author: Mahjabin Afrin

Since instagram is primarily a mobile application and the profile picture takes up only a small part of the screen, the logo will always be quite small. Its size is only 110×110 pixels.

    First requirement

From this follows the first requirement for logos – The logo for Instagram should be as simple as possible.

Not all logos are suitable for posting as a profile picture. If you have a logo and it’s fairly simple, it will be very easy to upload to your instagram profile. The McDonald s logo, for example, easily does the trick.

But if your logo has a lot of detail, chances are most of it will get lost and you’ll have to create a more simplified version of the logo. To determine if your logo is suitable for instagram, upload it to your profile now. If it’s missing important details, you’ll need to refine it.

If your logo is a stylised lettering of your company name, one way to make it simpler and smaller is to replace it with a letter mark.

Another good technique to simplify your logo would be to isolate a key element in your logo design and make it a separate icon. In the Walt Disney Company logo, for example, a unique feature is the special font. When the company needed a smaller version of the logo, they turned the “D” into a separate logo. The ‘D’ is well stylised and perfectly recognisable, even when used separately from the original logo.

What to avoid when creating a logo for instagram

In addition to the requirements for a logo for instagram, you also need to know what to avoid. You don’t want your slogan to appear in the logo.

Since the size of the logo for instagram is only 110×110 pixels, your slogan will be too small and very difficult to read, if at all. It’s best to include it in your profile info.

    Don’t use similar colours

When choosing a colour palette for your future logo to be posted on instagram, emphasise colours with great contrast. For example, black and white, blue and orange, green and gold. But that doesn’t mean that colours from the same  rustburgpharmacy.com family won’t work together. If you do decide to use similar colours, make sure there is sufficient visual difference between them and they don’t blur each other.

Don’t create a logo in too much detail

Ideally, of course, it’s better to create a logo in the resolution we want, but you can do it in any resolution, because the logo is designed as a vector and it will be able to reduce and enlarge without loss of quality. And then create another file with the required dimensions and paste the logo into it.

When you shrink a jpg-format image it can often get distorted. In case of png it’s not so bad. In any case, make sure your logo will look good in a small format. If it doesn’t, it’s better to redo it. If your logo looks sloppy, distorted or shows pixels, it could put customers off.
