On this week’s Recycle Bin podcast, source Jon Prosser revealed that Apple’s thinnest flagship iPhone, the 17 Air, will have a 6.7-inch screen instead of the previously rumored 6.6-inch screen.
Display industry analyst Ross Young reported in 2024 that iPhone 17 Air will have a 6.55-inch display, which is equivalent to 6.6 inches. It is unclear whether the 6.6-inch or 6.7-inch rumor is more accurate.
Prosser also revealed that the body of the iPhone 17 Air is 5.64mm thick, not including the thickness of the rear camera module. Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Guo Guo has previously said that the iPhone 17 Air measures 5.5 at its thinnest point If Prosser’s claim is accurate, there is not much difference between 5.64mm and 5.5mm.
Igeekphone Note: Prosser is a well-known Tech YouTuber who runs the Front Page Tech channel. Like most sources, he has a mixed record of predicting Apple rumors. In 2020, he was the first source to reveal the AirTag design, months ahead of the official release; Also shared many accurate details about the iPad mini 6, again months ahead of the official launch.
On the other hand, he and others incorrectly predicted that the Apple Watch Series 7 would feature a flat edge design, although Apple may have tested this design.
Prosser has leaked a number of Apple-related details in recent weeks, including all-new designs for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Air, and he also claimed that iOS 19 will feature a redesigned camera app with an interface similar to visionOS.
