Igeekphone reported on May 27th that Dutch technology media GalaxyClub posted a blog post yesterday (May 26th) stating that Samsung is planning to launch a Bluetooth/Wi-Fi version of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 smartwatch in an effort to lower the usage threshold for smartwatches.
The current model of Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra is equipped with the Exynos W1000 chip and supports 4G LTE cellular network, but it does not have a Bluetooth/Wi-Fi version.
The news reports that Samsung, in order to further meet the diverse needs of consumers, plans to launch a 5G cellular network version (SM-L716) and a Bluetooth/Wi-Fi version on the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 smartwatch.
In terms of configuration, the current Galaxy Watch Ultra was initially launched with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. However, in 2025, the storage was upgraded to 64GB. It is currently unclear about the storage configuration of the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
The media interpretation suggests that due to the continuous increase in the prices of key components, the Bluetooth version typically has a lower price compared to the version with independent mobile data connection. Therefore, in an environment of price hikes, it is easier to maintain the product’s appeal.
Regarding the release date, Igeekphone News quoted the blog post as saying that Samsung is expected to hold the Galaxy Unpacked event in July this year. Besides launching the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 foldable phones, it will also introduce the Galaxy Watch Series 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 smartwatches.
