While we hope that Samsung, Huawei and other manufacturers such as Xiaomi, put on the market their first folding smartphones, there are other manufacturers who are preparing the machinery to do the same. The cake of folding is still to be cut and everyone wants a piece without knowing for sure if it will be a technology that comes to stay. Now just we know a little more detail how the future might look foldable smartphone from Motorola.
It has been thanks to a patent filed by Lenovo (parent company after the Motorola brand) in the Global Design Database of the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Office), that we have been able to know what the company has in hand. According to the sketches of this patent, the design of the future folding Motorola could give a new twist to what has been seen so far, since it has a shell-like design with a different flexible hinge.
As we see in the patent and in the design elaborated by LetsGoDigital having in the gutter this, the gutter device with an elongated screen, that reminds us of the 21: 9 format of the new Sony Xperia and that allows a better grip on only one hand. We see how the camera for selfies has been placed on the edge of the screen.
The folding terminal has a screen on the back that becomes visible when folding. However, the great difference is that the fold is not located in the center, but when bending the lower part is smaller than the upper. In the back there is a camera and a gap can be seen when the phone is folded, so it will not be completely flat. The large hinge also allows the terminal to be bent at several different points.
It seems that Lenovo’s plans do go through trying to try their luck with folding technology in their future smartphones. What we do not know is whether they will use the Motorola brand the rumored resurgence of the “RAZR” family or it will be announced under the Lenovo brand itself. The latest rumors in this regard suggest that Lenovo is planning to introduce a new folding Motorola RAZR sometime this summer. Its price could reach $1500.
