LETSHUOER has announced the release of the long-awaited S12 Pro headphones with a planar magnetic driver. The pair is equipped with a large 14.8mm planar driver that has been specifically designed to deliver unparalleled sound with a spacious soundstage, powerful low end, and great vocals. Design
Although more affordable, the LETSHUOER S12 Pro is well built and made for everyday use. It has CNC-ground aluminum earcups and a thick, plastic-coated cable with metal terminations. It doesn’t have the sleek look of other IEMs and focuses instead on minimalism. There are no logos or stampings of any kind on the faces of the earphones, just polished metal. The inner half that touches the ear is deformed and has no sharp edges to press on it. The earphones are also quite small and must fit in each ear. The Letshuoer S12 enclosures are ergonomically shaped so they rest comfortably in the channel and the pinna. The domes also have two vents to regulate the pressure in the interior, which makes it even more comfortable to wear.

Inside its minimalist cases, the LETSHUOER S12 Pro uses a large 14.8mm planar magnetic driver. Flat magnets are popular in the on-ear world due to their low distortion and high levels of detail. A well-tuned planar can provide an excellent listening experience, which is why there has been an almost eternal demand for high-quality planar magnetic options to enter the IEM space at affordable prices. Even though on characteristic bass is basically even higher level than mids and highs (7kHz peak matches the bass) you don’t hear it that way. For me, it is slightly behind mids in its amount. What you get on the other hand is very nice. Detailed, controlled, refined, and even.
Connectivity
Listening tests for this review were conducted using a combination iFi Go Blu DAC/Wireless Amplifier with LDAC and the Xduoo XD-05 Plus. Music was played from Spotify in very high quality and from a mix of streamed games, shows and movies, and local video files with uncompressed audio.

Verdict & Buy
As you can probably see in the frequency department, the LETSHUOER S12 is pretty similar to the 7Hz Timeless. It offers a little more warmth in the low end and brightness in the high end, while the mids are probably the closest among the three registers. However, to my personal taste, I find that the S12’s frequency adjustments and improved resolution make it overkill and generally make listening more comfortable.
