Maxim Krippa became the new owner of GSC Game World – details

Maxim Krippa, a prominent Ukrainian entrepreneur, has made waves in the gaming industry by acquiring GSC Game World, the renowned studio behind iconic titles like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Cossacks. This unexpected change in ownership has sparked significant interest among fans of Ukrainian computer games.

We found all the detailed information on theCYBER WORLD portal.

Formerly owned by Sergey Grigorovich, whose vision and talent propelled GSC Game World to success, the studio’s transition to Krippa’s ownership raises questions about the motivations behind the shift. While Grigorovich cited external factors and accumulated tensions as reasons for the studio’s closure, Krippa’s entrance into the picture signals a new chapter for the company.

Krippa, with interests spanning Ukraine and the Emirates, was drawn to GSC Game World by the unparalleled popularity of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series and the studio’s innovative approach to game development. With ambitious plans to rejuvenate the company, Krippa wasted no time investing resources and implementing changes. Under his leadership, the studio is set to continue the development of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.2 and strengthen its position in the industry.

Already, Krippa has initiated reorganization efforts, injected funds into ongoing projects, and revamped the management and development teams. The future looks promising for GSC Game World under its new CEO’s guidance, promising exciting developments for fans and the gaming community.

    Why did the management change

The transition of ownership at GSC Game World stirred up quite a buzz among fans, given the company’s legacy of crafting beloved computer games. Sergey Grigorovich, the company’s longstanding founder and CEO, surprised many by stepping down and passing the torch to Maxim Krippa, a relatively lesser-known figure in the gaming industry but notable as theowner of Natus Vincere (Na’Vi) and Maincast, prominent entities in Ukrainian esports.

This shift prompted speculation and concern among fans regarding the potential impact on the company’s future and projects. However, efforts were made to reassure the community and elucidate the reasons behind the change. Maxim Tkachenko, the studio’s community manager, provided the following:

    • Official statements delving into the intricacies of intellectual property.
    • The Grigorovich brothers’ role.
    • The implications of the upheaval on the company’s trajectory.

Tkachenko illuminated Krippa’s longstanding involvement with the studio as an investor and co-owner since 2020. He hinted at undisclosed details within the investor agreement while affirming that alterations in the registers of Ukraine and the Czech Republic were integral components of this arrangement.

Grigorovich’s decision to cede control to Maxim Krippa was driven by the envisioned prospects for GSC Game World’s advancement. The infusion of capital from the new owner was anticipated to fuel ongoing development efforts and pave the way for exciting new projects.

Krippa articulated his commitment to nurturing the creative ingenuity of GSC Game World’s developers and fostering the growth of the Ukrainian gaming industry at large.

In essence, the change in ownership at GSC Game World was a meticulously planned strategy aimed at ushering in fresh avenues for expansion and innovation. Fans eagerly anticipate the unveiling of new projects and the continuation of cherished game series.

    The history of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

GSC Game World, established in 1995 by Sergey Grigorovich, has a notable history of successful game releases, including the renowned titles Cossacks and S.T.A.L.K.E.R.

One of their significant achievements was the release of Cossacks: European Wars on Steam in 2001, garnering global recognition. Following its success, the developers swiftly followed up with the expansion, The Last Argument of Kings, and a subsequent release, Cossacks: Back to War, on Steam a year later.

Their next endeavor was the sequel to the acclaimed Cossacks game, titled Cossacks II: Napoleonic Wars, which hit the shelves in 2005. The subsequent year saw the release of an equally captivating expansion, the Battle for Europe.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series, set in the aftermath of the Chornobyl disaster, blends elements of first/third-person shooters with a post-apocalyptic setting and intriguing mysticism. Inspired by the works of the Strugatsky brothers and the enigmatic culture of the Chornobyl Zone, the series comprises three installments: “Shadows of Chernobyl” (2007), “Clear Sky” (2008), and “Call of Pripyat” (2009).

Despite its success, the development of the second installment of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. faced setbacks in 2010 due to financial issues, leading to a temporary suspension in 2011.

In 2014, Yevhen Grigorovich, brother of the company’s founder, spearheaded a new venture, overseeing the release of the third iteration of Cossacks. “Cossacks 3” hit the market in 2016, followed by the expansion pack, “Days of Splendor,” later the same year, and four additional add-ons in 2017.

Resuming their work in 2018, GSC Game World rekindled efforts on S.T.A.L.K.E.R.2 after a hiatus of three years, eventually shifting the project team to Prague in 2022, enabling the continuation of their endeavors.

More information about the new owner

Maksym Krippa, a Ukrainian entrepreneur and investor with interests in computer games, esports, IT, and real estate, is the proprietor of the renowned Ukrainian esports team Navi and Maincast, a company specializing in broadcasting esports events.

Die-hard Navi fans are aware of a pivotal moment in 2018 when the club’s founder, O. Kokhanovsky, opted to sell due to significant financial requirements. In the same year, Maksym Krippa assumed the primary ownership role, drawing attention to his accomplishments in the IT sector and prosperous real estate ventures.

Navi stands as Ukraine’s most prominent esports team, particularly revered in CS: GO and Dota 2 circles. Maksym Krippa’s involvement as an investor dates back to 2018.

With the new proprietor’s evident dedication and expertise, GSC Game World can be assured that it will persist in crafting exhilarating games that captivate players worldwide.

GSC Game World remains committed to game development, with anticipation building for the imminent release of the second installment of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, slated for the early months of 2024.
