A month ago, MediaTek officially announced the Helio P70 chip and a couple of days ago the first smartphone with it on board, the Realme U1, was introduced. We have already heard that the company is preparing for the release of the Helio P80, which in its intellectual capabilities will be one of the best on the market. But the chip maker has another surprise.
Today, MediaTek published a new article on social networking site Twitter, which announced the name of the next chipset model that the company will launch as well as a few features of the chip. MediaTek is quite confident about the Helio P90, even saying that it will change things: stronger, better energy-saving and more innovative AI performance.

MediaTek is positioning the new system on a chip as efficient, productive, and with innovative artificial intelligence, and promises that it will “change everything.” What kind of unique or superpowers does the Helio P90 possess, we learn only in two weeks. At this stage, the company limited itself to loud statements and the promise that the first smartphones based on the Helio P90 will appear no earlier than the second quarter of 2019.
At the level of rumors, they say that the new chip uses the big-LITTLE architecture, its configuration includes 8 cores, four of which can be Cortex-A75 or Cortex-A76. They do not promise the transition to the new process technology, it, like its predecessors, is manufactured using 12nm technology. Here, as before, the Mali-G72 accelerator will be used as a graphics subsystem and will offer a multi-core APU unit, sharpened to perform operations with AI.
