Yesterday, Qualcomm announced the highly anticipated Snapdragon 888 chipset, and many manufacturers have already confirmed that they will release smartphones based on this SoC next year. And today, Meizu Technology CTO Liang Dongming took to Weibo to announce that the first Meizu smartphones to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888 will be released next spring.
Moreover, Liang Dongmin added that for a long time, Qualcomm and Meizu Technology have worked together to continuously bring more extreme user experience to meet the core needs of users.
He said also, this time the flagship mobile platform of Snapdragon 888 brings brand-new breakthroughs and innovations in AI, games, and cameras, which further meets the various needs of users in terms of software.
Considering that Meizu’s flagship model was named Meizu 17 series in 2020, so the new flagship that will be listed next year is likely to be Meizu 18 series., which will be the first to be equipped with Snapdragon 888 processors.
The Snapdragon 888 SoC comes as the successor to last year’s Snapdragon 865. It comes with the Snapdragon X60 5G modem and includes a sixth-generation Qualcomm AI Engine. The chipset was previously rumored as the Snapdragon 875.
In addition to Meizu, Xiaomi, Oppo, Realme, Vivo, ZTE, Asus, Black Shark, LG, Motorola, Nubia, Sharp, and other companies will release their Snapdragon 888-based smartphones. In addition, Qualcomm has confirmed its willingness to work with Honor.
