Oppo introduced the Reno 3 and Reno 3 Pro phones in the last days of 2019. Now it seems that another smartphone is expected to join the family. Recently, the brand itself has sent a device to TENAA for certification before the official launch, something normal before officially presenting it. BBK Electronics is clear about one thing, wants to surprise with a new device and will do so after having announced at least two models of the same series.
The model number is the Oppo PCLM50, many details become known after passing through the FCC. The new Oppo will be faster than the Reno 3 and will have a 48MP sensor as standard, the same mounted by the Pro and inferior to the Reno 3.
The SoC — most likely to be a Snapdragon 765G 5G — is clocked at 2.4 GHz, with a 5G modem baked into it. The modem supports SA and NSA networks but it doesn’t support the band 79.
The chipset carries 8 GB of memory (but you don’t get a 12GB RAM option) and 128GB/ 256GB of onboard non-expandable storage. Powering this hardware is a 3935mAh (which is the rated capacity, by the way) battery and an Android-10-based ColorOS 7. The new Variant will be carrying higher Oppo Prices than the standard Reno Variants.
That covers the upgrade bit, now for the cutbacks. Unlike the 64MP primary camera on the Reno 3 variant, Oppo PCLM50 features a 48MP unit and combines it with an 8MP ultra-wide angle shooter, and a pair of 2MP depth and microsensors. While we don’t know where it’s housed, the front-selfie-cam maxes out at 32MP– same as the standard Oppo Reno 3.
The 6.4-inch AMOLED display produces a 2400X1080 resolution and embeds an in-display fingerprint reader. But again, the listing doesn’t confirm whether the screen sports a punch-hole or a notch. The rear panel will be offered in Yellow, Black, and White hues. The release date and price of this new Oppo Smartphone that would see the light from the second quarter of this year is unknown.
