According to Samsung, the 7nm Exynos 990 chip used in the Galaxy S20 series was criticized by the industry for its high power consumption. For this reason, Samsung plans to improve Exynos 990. The Samsung Exynos 5G is built on a 5nm process. And Samsung ’s semiconductor division is preparing to mass-produce 5nm Exynos chips in August.

Samsung quoted a source as saying that Samsung has completed preparations for the mass production of the next generation of Exynos chips. The chip is built on a 5nm process and Samsung ’s semiconductor division is preparing to mass-produce 5nm Exynos chips in August.

The report pointed out that the next-generation Exynos chip is named Exynos 992. And it may be the first to be used on the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series Korean version. The National Bank version and the US version are expected to be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 flagship platform.

Exynos is worth mentioning that Samsung is rumored to be creating a custom Soc for Google. It uses two Cortex A78 cores, two Cortex A76 cores, and four Cortex A55 cores. The GPU is Mali-G78 MP20 and integrates Google Visual Core ISP and NPU.

There have been rumors that Google intends to develop Soc on its own. And it will be used on its own Pixel models. For now. Google Pixel may have to wait until next year to use the self-developed Soc.

On the other hand, Samsung Exynos 5G abandoned its self-developed core and adopted ARM. It is expected that the Exynos chip in 2021 will use Cortex A78 and may integrate AMD GPU. Which is worth looking forward to.
