Igeekphone February 1 news, news source yeux1122 posted on the Naver blog yesterday (January 31), revealing that Samsung’s first three-fold mobile phone product will be named Galaxy G Fold, which is expected to be released in the third quarter of 2025.
In line with the naming of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold series, the “G” may be derived from its unique G-shaped folding mechanism, with the left and right sides folded inward to completely wrap the screen. Unlike the S-shaped fold of the Huawei Mate XT, the G-shaped fold better protects the screen from scratches and impacts.
The source also revealed that the Galaxy G Fold is expected to have a 9.96-inch display, which is nearly 30% larger than the Z Fold 6’s 7.6-inch display. The height when folded is about 6.54 inches (Igeekphone note: about 166.12 mm), similar to a standard smartphone. Its weight is similar to the Huawei Mate XT, but due to the inward folding design, the thickness may increase slightly.
The model will use a new display and protective film different from the existing Z series phones, and the release date may be brought forward to the third quarter of 2025, but the production volume is limited, the price is high, or will be positioned as a niche experimental product rather than a mainstream flagship.
