Igeekphone reported on February 25th that the technology media Android Authority published a blog post yesterday (February 24th), stating that during the demonstration of the “foreign object detection” feature of the early test firmware of One UI 9, a schematic diagram of Samsung’s ultra-large foldable device Fold Wide was discovered.

Igeekphone reported that through analyzing the early test version of One UI 9.0, the media discovered that Samsung is developing an “object detection” function for foldable phones. Through system-level pop-up notifications, it alerts users if there are any debris or particles at the fold area of the device, effectively preventing the flexible screen from being physically squeezed and damaged when closed.
If the phone is not fully closed, the system will immediately trigger an alarm and display a prompt on the screen instructing the user to reopen the phone and carefully check if there are any foreign objects on the screen surface.

In addition to this core protection feature, the code file also revealed the placeholder images of three foldable phone models that are expected to be released in 2026. They are Galaxy Z Fold 8, Galaxy Z Flip 8, and the newly launched product line Galaxy Z Fold Wide. Among them, the most notable one is the wide-foldable Galaxy Z Fold Wide, which has a wider overall shape and visually resembles a passport very closely.
