Igeekphone News, August 27th: The technology media Android Authority published a blog post yesterday (August 26th), exposing a suspected iPhone 17 Pro Max phone case from the accessory manufacturer Thinborne. And put it on the iPhone 16 Pro Max for testing.
The test results show that the protective case fits extremely well on the iPhone 16 Pro Max. Whether it is the body size, the position of the buttons or the openings of the speaker and the USB-C interface, they are highly consistent with the existing models. Even the position of the rear camera is completely matched. The housing can tightly wrap the lens module, which means that the overall size and button layout of the new generation of models are not much different from the previous generation.

The key change occurred on the camera module. Leaked information indicates that Apple may adopt a new module design on the iPhone 17 Pro series, moving the LiDAR sensor, rear microphone and flash to the right side of the back of the device. Although this adjustment does not affect the overall shape, it will cause the sensor and the opening position to be inconsistent with the previous generation.

Even though the size of the iPhone 17 Pro Max is similar to that of the iPhone 16 Pro Max, the protective cases of the two generations of models still cannot be interchanged. For some third-party cases with relatively large openings in the camera module, they might still be usable with difficulty, but the overall compatibility is not reliable. On the contrary, it is even more impossible to use the iPhone 16 Pro Max case for new models.
