This Will be the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 With Snapdragon 660, Wireless Charging, 5500mAh Battery

Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is part of the Chinese manufacturer’s smartphones that have recently received the attention of the XDA community. Thanks to the work of independent developers, engaged in examining the leaked firmware of not yet announced smartphones, it is possible to obtain useful clues about the technical characteristics. The same treatment took place at Mi Max 3, already the subject of a fair number of rumors in December and at the end of January.

XDA emphasizes that it can not fully confirm the previous rumors, but adds details taken directly from the firmware obtained by the user @FunkyHuawei. Firstly, the SoC would be the Snapdragon 660 – a variant with the Snapdragon 630 is also assumed, which, however, is not present in the firmware examined by XDA. The battery has a capacity of 5500mAh, while the display adopts the 18: 9 format – the firmware does not provide an indication of the resolution of the same.

The particularly interesting element is represented by references to the wireless charging function. Xiaomi has not yet produced any smartphone with support for this technology, the first model could be the Xiaomi Mi 7, but also the new Mi Max 3 could adopt it, as suggested by the various clues in the code. XDA also managed to get a video tutorial and an image that shows how to place the terminal on the charging base (unfortunately the image is that of a generic smartphone and not the Mi Max 3).

Further details outline the camera compartment: the rear camera could use either a single Sony IMX363 sensor or a dual module with Samsung S5K217 + S5K5E8 sensors; on the front, there is a Samsung S5K4H7 sensor and, apparently, a second OmniVision 2281 sensor that could be used to support iris scanning functionality.

According to the official page, in fact, this sensor, made up of 1.12-micron pixels and based on PureCel technology, is able to offer accurate and reliable iris recognition for smartphones, tablets, and laptops “The code suggests that iris recognition functionality has not yet been completed, but is under development.

Close the picture on the software, already based on Android 8.1 Oreo, and on additional technical features of Xiaomi Mi Max 3: Dual SIM slot, dual SD card support, IR sensor, notification LEDs, and aptX and aptX HD Bluetooth audio codec from Qualcomm. Absent the NFC module, and perhaps a dual speaker present – but at this point, the firmware is not yet completely clear. Information not yet official, but tendentially more reliable than those spread by simple rumors, since in this case, the feedback has a more solid basis, ie the firmware of the terminal.
